Twenty years ago, the world survived by a thread. In an event known as the Tearing, Demons, devils, and Outsiders from beyond the Material Sphere invaded the world as it is known and caused calamity unlike anything ever previously known. The powers of the continent of Loness couldn't have been less prepared. Embroiled in multiple wars that spanned across the entirety of the land, no country was at peace, and all of them were exhausted from the constant melee. The powers of Old that survived are withering, and change is inevitable. The only questions that matter now, is who will survive, and who will stand at the top? In the southern Kingdom of Artain, once known for its heroic demeanor, adventurous spirit, and national pride what was once a united human nation under the leadership of Noble House Vermilia has split into separate factions like in the ancient warring periods, all due to the assassination of King Erasmus. Each Noble house competes for power, and new alliances are written in blood and ink with each passing day. Political intrigue has taken the mantle of heroism, and tales of the noble Knights of old are now a passing memory. In the North-West, the war ravaged lands of of the Halflings know the bitter taste of defeat. Having been invaded in the south by the previously united Artain, and in the north by the Felhesti Empire, the Untoro Halffolk must pick up the pieces as their former government has completely collapsed. A weak, fledgling constitutional monarchy has formed, but the already hostile lands they had tamed so long ago are now nearly uninhabitable due to the damage from the conflict. The survival of the Halfling Race is not guaranteed, as Hill and Stone giants march to meet their walls with bestial fury. In the Farthest North, the last bastion of order, the Felhesti Magocratic Empire fights a losing battle against foreign invaders who ride into battle on magically altered dragons. These Reavers show no mercy, and let out a savage war cry to please their Golden Dragon God, Bethop. As the fighting escalates, the Empire cannot afford to protect the lands they had conquered in the once proud High Elf nation of Loenst Aefla. The beaten and weary elven homeland has been abandoned by one set of conquerors only to face another, and yet their pride still like a flame against the wind has yet to flicker out. -Game Info- Hello! You can call me Dapper or Weevil. This game is intended to be a long term campaign set in a setting of my own design. I've been DMing for more than 6 years, and during that time I have continually built this setting from the ground up. I run a very roleplay heavy game where player choices and actions have lasting impact on the state of the world, and each character is free to chase their ambitions, no matter what they may be. I run a game in which I heavily invest my time and efforts into. Each NPC is a fleshed out character with wants, needs, dreams and fears. Every PCs backstory will be integrated into the story, and each PC will have an arch developed around them as the game goes, based off of their backstories and personality traits. I try to give absolute freedom to my players, so long as it does not impede the fun of another player too greatly. If you want your character to take over some particular faction, or even found their own, I will provide you opportunities and challenges so that your character can truly and actively seek those ambitions. As a DM, I consider myself to be a cooperative storyteller. Ultimately my goal is to help the party tell a story in the setting that I put before them, a story which they can all enjoy engaging in and telling with me. While I put much emphasis on roleplay, I also make a point to run a mechanically sound and complex game. Combat encounters will typically be around the Deadly difficulty, and death is always close if you don't plan ahead or put yourself at an advantage before the battle even begins. That is not to say however, that I want my players to feel that their characters are insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Even a level 1 character in my games is very powerful compared to a commoner or guard. People will treat you with respect and awe, and possibly even fear when your character demonstrates what they are capable of. I run a dangerous setting where heroes and mercenaries regularly face threats that can wipe out entire communities in a matter of days if left unchecked.
