Explorer Mode makes tokens look "Washed out"

Hey, so I've been tinkering with Dynamix Lighting and I have noticed that if I turn on Explorer Mode, the Tokens' colors start looking REALLY washed out. Is there any way to fix it other than to turn off explorer mode?

Hello! Did you work this out? The one time I've seen this is that I was setting up a new page and I had the tokens on the GM layer by accident. I'm hoping it's something as simple as that for you.

There's too much else broken with UDL right now to be able to really troubleshoot and isolate this and figure out if it's working as designed yet, but you're probably experiencing whatever is going on in this thread: All New Tokens Behind GM Layer

Hi, Bianca. There are two posts in the Updated Dynamic Lighting Feedback thread describing this issue, one with reproduction steps, as well as an additional report on the Roll20 subreddit. Users confirm that the tokens are on the token layer, although the washout effect makes it difficult to distinguish these tokens from ones on the GM layer. Here are the relevant posts from the UDL 1.0 feedback thread: John said: I'm having this exact same issue. It's very frustrating - I was looking forward to finally using explorer mode, but it makes it very difficult for me to keep track of what's on the GM layer and what isn't, and is just very visually messy. Carnage Mantis said: When Explorer mode and Dynamic Lighting is active, tokens on the Token Layer appear slightly transparent to the GM. The amount of translucence seems linked to the "GM Darkness Opacity" Slider. How to replicate : - Activate Dynamic Lighting and Explorer mode on a Page - Drop or Draw something on the background layer - Drop a token on the token layer - When the token, hover the drawing or the background and you will be able to see through lightly. - Adjusting the "GM Darkness Opacity" slider will increase or reduce this effect, when at 100% the tokens do not appear transparent. If the token has vision and the GM has been expressly declared as controlling the token (by putting the GM's name in the "Controlled by" field of the token), the particular token will not appear transparent regardless of the "GM Darkness Opacity" level. Tokens in sight from the token will still appear transparent. When seeing through a token's sight (CTRL-L), no tokens appear transparent, regardless of the "Controlled by" field or the "GM Darkness Opacity" level. The combination of these two particular effects make it so no player see this transparency. Here is a link to the few tests I've made (the black lines and text have been added in paint) : https://i.imgur.com/aZljkMi.png

Are you new? This seems to indicate a total lack of understanding of the issue. Sure this might explain it for some new users, but given the extra detail provided it should have been easy enough to realize it was a more complex issue. If the OP has found something that hints at where to look for the fault, it should be treated as such. Sadly there are so many issues with UDL that I see these faded tokens and just ignore the problem... I just do not have the patience to try and dig deeper .. especially with new releases causing new and returning issues. Anyway, welcome. You'll soon learn the ropes and I hope you can make a useful contribution.

And yeah - I've unfortunately been dealing with this issue by just generally avoiding explorer mode, because I like switch maps occasionally without me or my players randomly losing vision when they move their tokens afterwards - which is a thing that happens. Plus - my map looks somewhere between these two depending on how many of my characters I'm willing to turn on darkvision for at a time. Looks fine to the players. But it has tended to thus far make me not overly worried about the tokens looking a bit washed out. Hopefully this issue gets sorted out at some point.

Thanks for jumping in, y'all! I am new and I wanted to respond in case it was something simple; I didn't know that it was mentioned elsewhere. Best!
