External Journal Items Missing

Hello all! So I was faffing around in my campaigns external journal and I noticed that there were only about half or less of the items that should be there! The list goes on, but most of these tokens are from when we were playing Curse of Strahd. Since then I've changed the lobby to contain far  more handouts and tokens than what comes with CoS. Right now there are no  handouts and like 1/3 of the tokens in my lobby. Have I done anything, or is Roll20 doing a goof again?

On another note, recently a bunch of empty character sheets just started appearing in my journal and I can't delete them or archive them. They just reappear once I rejoin the lobby.
It struck me that my lobby is still a Curse of Strahd lobby, even though pretty much everything from CoS has been archived. I recently updated the lobby, but I think now that it may be that update that broke my external journal.

Not sure what you mean when you say "lobby". Also, when you say "archive" are you referring to the "Archive" option in your journal tab? That doesn't actually remove anything from the game, just hides it from the list for cosmetic purposes. It's much better to use a  Library Campaign  for that purpose.

You should only use archive to get things out of the way in a live session.  Once you are done with something permenantly or for a while, create a session that you can offload all of your handouts, sheets, and maps and throw them in there with transmogrifier.  Archive does not improve performance or remove things, it just hides it from your lists or more accurately combines them into an obscure entry at the bottom.  Your creation characters are probably a bug or bad JS of an introduction api you have running.  Otherwise I'm clueless.  It could also be the result of a really bad third party extension setup.   Think of your live session as a singular page and your accountwide session list as the book its from.  Keep as little on that page as you need so that the players are not lagging and your not cluttered and lost in mess.  I personally do improv livesessions where I let the dice decide where things go so I have a massive battlemap session with hundreds of maps made, a session with 2k npcs presetup with multisided tokens, and a ton of handouts related to where the party has been in the world and I only keep the stuff I need right away in the live session and transmog over everything else, and when I am done with something during a live session I archive them, not because thats useful, but because I don't want to move or delete them, I want to review the changes to things afterwards for notes so the archive is a great place to store that stuff temporarily till the notes are done.   Finally, the external journal will fail to load the first time you try to view it often.  Hitting refresh on that page usually fixes it for me.  Direct links to journal entries works and you need to have permissions to the journal entries in order for them to visible to you(the owner of the session does not but the GM powered player does).  I don't think they are aware of that journal bug, its probably just unfixable.

When I say lobby I suppose I mean the campaign/game. (I thought it called it lobby somewhere, my bad.) I am referring to the archiving option in my journal, and thanks to both DM Eddie and Keith for explaining how that option actually works. I genuinely thought that it would relieve my game of things to load. However, my main issue still persists. A lot of handouts and character tokens are still missing from my external journal, and I am the creator and gm, so that shouldn't be the issue. I tried reloading it multiple times before my first post, however I am now home from work and will try again. If reloading won't work I guess I'll just have to transmog everything over to a new game and get to resorting everything.. Regarding the odd empty characters, the only API I can think of that would make empty characters for some reason would be Combat Master and even that feels unlikely. (I am quite the novice when it comes to API scripts and the like, so that part baffles me.) The game was in the beginning a curse of Strahd game, and when I saw that it wanted to update I didn't think much of it. It was after the update that I ran into trouble. The update came far after I remade the game into a homebrew one by archiving all the CoS tokens and handouts. I suppose I should have deleted them, but the game would still be considered a CoS game as Roll20 is concerned right?

It might be worth testing to see if archived content results in blank pages and sheets written to the game during a patch.

I don't run module games but I could have sworn it was common practice not to update a live session of a module due to the fact that they are now attaching DL to it and that the patches could dramaticallly break your session.  Oh, and I think sometimes the patches will delete or change custom additions to the module.

This is apparently happening for some users. I have not been able to reproduce a data loss in numerous tests under varied settings. My advice would be to copy the game first and test the patch on the copy.
