Experienced DM interested in sitting in on a session.

I've been playing RPGs for the last 15 years, but spent 12 of those in the DMs chair. As such I've only ever experienced one other person DM. While I consider myself fairly experienced, I've not been able to draw inspiration or ideas from many other DMs so I was wondering if there were any groups that would mind if I listened in on a session they were running? - I'd have myself on mute, so wouldn't interfere or distract anyone. But it'd be great to have a chat to the DM after the session to exchange ideas. Offers for any system or time are all apprciated. Thanks, Stephen.

If you'd like to sit in on tomorrow (sunday 7-13) night's game (In a homebrew world, using Pathfinder rules), send me a PM, I'll be glad to have you visit. Game officially starts at 6pm Central, so if you could show up an hour early we can chat both before and after the game, which usually ends at 10pm. I've been running this campaign for 4-5 months now, all but one of the players has been along the whole time. I've been using Roll20 for about a year, and gaming for, well, longer than some of my players have been alive! I don't claim to be the best GM, but I get by. q;} Lemme know. -Phnord

I've got some AD&D 2E coming up on Sunday (earlier afternoon, hours before Phnord Prephect's stated time), and also on Monday afternoon (USA times), if you are interested in watching that, it is a low key game and I want to ask my players if they would mind first so direct-message me. Some other places to check out other DM's are YouTube, Twitch, and podcasts. Oftentimes you can ask the dungeon master questions later thru their chat-rooms or feedback emails. On youtube or iTunes / Podcasts, search for the term "Actual play", and many games will come up. Add in a term like D&D to narrow it down. Filter the results to sort by-date and check the latest ones, as newer are often better quality recordings. On Twitch TV you can watch live games in progress, and recordings. Many have video, and lots of them are played using Roll20! Hey Stephen, and again, welcome to Roll20. Got your message, sent you a link. You should consider Gold's offer as well... his game would suit your timezone better than mine, as mine tend to run late! His other suggestions are good ones too, I just knew someone else would be along to make them any minute! Variety is definitely important; watching me, you're only gonna see how I run a game... and I'll be the first to admit, it's not the 'proper' way; I skip a lot of rules at times, and make stuff up as I go. Others have different styles, and the players make a difference too. In addition, there are LOTS of great podcasts out there, full of ideas and perspectives about gaming. Here's a few of my favorites: Fear The Boot , the best of the lot. Start with a couple recent episodes that strike your fancy, then go back and listen to the earlier ones. I like this so much I've downloaded them all; great background noise while driving or whatever. Kicked in the Dicebags : as the name implies, a bit raunchier than the previous show. Not downright NSFW, most of the time, but they do drop the occasional F-bomb and topics can sometimes be a bit... unusual? But good stuff, usually pretty funny too. Unfortunately, they haven't been posting much lately. Not sure why. Happy Jack's RPG Podcast : Another one with some F-bombs and a lot of burping (it's a running gag thing). Usually hilarious, plus they have a lot of actual play sessions recorded that you can listen to, which is nice. Dungeonsmaster : more of a gaming blog, pretty much D&D specific, but they have a lot of recorded games. Sometimes the same campaign run by two different groups, for extra perspective on things. Dungeons & Randomness : A live-play series in it's third? I think? campaign with many of the same players. Another good group of gamers, fun to listen to, unfortunately I haven't kept up much lately. I should do that. Nerd Poker : an aptly named show, featuring Brian Posehn (you'll know him when you see him!) Hilarious to listen to. I personally dislike the GMs game style, I'm not sure why. I think he is a little too free-form for my tastes, it seems like maybe he doesn't really have things as planned out as I like, or something. But listening to him spin his story, and listening to the players play along, is still a lot of fun. This is my favorite live-play podcast by far.
