Massive lag again tonight

Several of our players tonight are experiencing massive lag using the site. GM resorted to rolling physical dice and referencing a paper book to run the campaign. Ended up having to quit early because the connection was too bad to play.

When something like that happens and you are not seeing a board full of similar reports at the same time, there is likely a problem with the game, a particular player's setup, or a connectivity issue with an ISP. The best thing to do is to capture a Console Log ( Chrome ,  Firefox ) and file a  Help Center Request .

Thanks Keith, I checked my console but I wasn't really seeing the issue others were, and everyone was frustrated. I'm the only developer in the group, trying to talk them through the process in the middle of it didn't seem likely to help anyone have a better time in the moment. I'll follow up with them to make sure they know how to do that for the future. We've had fairly consistent lag issues playing on Friday nights across multiple games with multiple GMs. I'm sure some of it is down to individual users' connectivity, but we did run some speedtest checks and no one was that slow.

There are some usual suspects that contribute to lag that might be worth watching out for. They don't consistently happen, but some players have anecdotally reported a connection: FX Animations Characters with an inordinate number of spells on their sheet (like clerics who want every spell they could prepare) Huuuge maps with complex dynamic lighting Some folks are still reporting lag with UDL in general, but since this is not universal there may be some specific undiagnosed cause. One or more players playing from a bad or restrictive ISP/national "firewall" An inefficient API script, or one which interacts with one of the "suspects" above. Evil faeries.
Don't know if this will help, but in multiple games, we had  large lags for dice rolls, We disabled " Enable advanced dice (dice icons, drag and drop, etc.)" in the "my settings" and have not had laggy dice rolls in any of our games since.
