GM LF Playtest Group(s) for Homebrew Game with Cross-genre Setting, Wed. 6:00 p.m. MDT, Saturday 2:00 p.m. MDT

Hi, I'm Jason Wofford, author of the WotC Dungeon Magazine Adventure "Killing Ground". I am looking for players to playtest a game system of my own design entitled The Odyssey Engine. It is a d8 dice pool RPG system made for play in any genre. In fact, Ghost Cell, the first OE setting in development, facilitates and encourages cross-genre storytelling. Check out the Ghost Cell campaign description for more details. This first phase of playtesting will consist of a presentation of game system fundamentals followed by a one-shot adventure played with pre-generated characters. The full play test scenario could conceivably span more than one session. After the playtest, players will be asked to fill out a survey about the game in its current form. That input will affect future development of the game system and setting. An initial "dry run" session is currently scheduled for this Wednesday evening, July 16th at 6:00 p.m. (mountain time). A second session will be scheduled for this Saturday afternoon, July 19th at 2:00 p.m. (mountain time). Each session will last 3-4 hours. More sessions may be scheduled based on player demand, and based on how long the playtest adventure takes each group to complete. Sessions are currently set up to run on the Dev Server. Please contact me if you are interested so that I can invite you to the game! Once this phase of playtesting is concluded, the upcoming second phase of playtesting will allow players to create their own characters and participate in an ongoing playtest campaign. Scheduling will likely change at that point to meet the needs of each playtest group. Tabletop/RPG Newbies and Veterans welcome!
As long as voice chat isn't required, I may be interested in playtesting, though I'd have to doublecheck what those timezones are relative to mine (EST).
I'm kind of interested on trying out this game. I would like to participate in the Wednesday game if possible. Thanks for considering!

Megan, I believe your time zone is two hours ahead of mine. 6 p.m. here is 8 p.m. for you. Does that sound right? As for voice chat, I'm willing to see how it goes with just text, but I would prefer to have the expediency of voice chat. I'm a Roll20 newbie and relatively new to running games online, so I'll already be a bit slow during the first sessions. Ghost DM, I'll definitely keep you in mind! Most likely there will be two or three groups for a while that meet weekly. At the very least, I would like to have one ongoing group that might change schedule to fit the group's needs, and one regularly scheduled session for one-shot scenarios (or workshops) that are open to whichever players are available at that time. Any Mentor input would be great to have during those, especially given how new I am to Roll20 play. I've spent most of my time here building the campaign and making sure my game system is at least somewhat compatible with Roll20 dice codes, etc. I'm not diving into the API until I'm more familiar with the coding process. I did code the character sheets though. Anyway, this Wednesday is kind of a dry run for me to get reacquainted with running online, but I do plan on presenting the game and running the play-test session, or as much of it will fit into four hours. I may need to finish it next Wednesday.

Btw, with the responses I'm getting so far through other channels, it looks like a later session is better for a Monday or a Wednesday. For now, I'm pushing the Wednesday session back to 8pm mountain time / 9pm CST to accommodate players that have kids and otherwise full daytime schedules. Is that too late for you, Ghost DM? Also, Ghost DM, are there any other days that are good for you? The Wednesday session will still be on the Dev Server. I'm also moving the Saturday session to the main server and making that open to a wider player base, but at the moment it's scheduled for the time stated above. I'm just changing the Wednesday due to the demand I'm getting for that session.
I have a fun group of friends that would love to playtest. There are 5 of us in total. The major problem being we work the majority of the day on week days. If there is a test group that could meet on weekends, we would be very interested. We have played a large amount of systems together so we have a lot of different experiences with different rule sets and settings. If a weekend meeting is possible, we can meet at almost any hour. (Except late on Saturday, that is when we play.)

Markos, your group might be a good fit for the Saturday afternoon session. Right now that's scheduled for 2pm MDT/ 3pm CST. I expect three to four hours each session. Would that cut into your regular game? Also, given the interest drummed up so far, I have closed the official LFG listing, but I definitely don't mind working with the people still posting here. :)
That would be fine. We normally start at 10, so we will be long finished. Is there any sort of reading info I should pass around my group/ have them contact you?
I'll PM you the campaign invite link. You should be able to see all the handouts in the journal once you join. Be patient with me though. This is also my first time running on Roll20. I played a little on WotC's tabletop before it went third party, so I have a bit of virtual tabletop experience. Just _really_ rusty. What does your group prefer for comms: just voice, video and voice, text, etc.? I would prefer voice at least, and would be willing to try video. I may have a bandwidth issue with video though. My internet service can be inconsistent.

Btw, when you join the campaign you should see many handouts. Focus on the OE MECHANICS handouts, then Ghost Cell and Nexus setting handouts. The rest can/will be brought up during the session(s). Also, there are a total of twelve sample characters all representing different genres of character. Choose a character so that I can assign permissions. The excess characters will be removed.
