I've searched and searched and searched and searched and searched and searched and searched and searched searched and searched and searched and searched searched and searched and searched and searched searched and searched and searched and searched searched and searched and searched and searched searched and searched and searched and searched searched and searched and searched and searched ... looking for how to change the in game icon for my character and can not find it anywhere. WHY MAKE THIS SO HARD? Serious question. None of the instructions I've found on the internet via google searching come even close to solving the problem. So again I ask - WHY MAKE THIS SO HARD? I don't get it.

Hi Brad, If you are a player, you can't do it. Control of the graphics on the board is the province of the game's GM. You can send the GM the token image you want to use and they can set it up for you. This is assuming you mean the token image. If you mean the image as seen in the player area, that is the same as the image you use elsewhere on Roll20. It is not unique to each game (though it would be nice, like how you can set the in-game name. If you are the GM and are trying to change the image of a token, that's a matter of uploading new token art and assigning it toe be represented by a given character, getting all the settings as you want them and then saving it to the sheet as the default token as the final step. If none of these is answering the question properly, give us some more detail and I'm sure we can give you a hand. If you are vaulting a character in from a game you have made, you can change it there and then vault in a new copy, assuming the game has vault privileges turned on.

As Keith said, players are limited to what they can do in a game: https://wiki.roll20.net/Player

You can do this, but it's limited...if you change the "Speaking As" drop down (under the chat window) to your character, it'll use the Token (or Profile Pic) for your in-game avatar. Notice the "As" shows "Haldir (Finderski)" - that's my Display Name for the game. But If I change As to my character, I get this:

Ah, I had been using the built-in video for so long (yes, it works fine) that I had forgotten that had been added.
