Black screen when viewed as player

I have created a new campaign and started adding maps.  Once I was done I wanted to see how the players would see it (naturally) but when I do the map is completely black.  I have tokens that I've dropped that I control that have sight and there's still nothing.  If I turn off DL the map is STILL black. You can see here that the screen with the token is just a black box and my DL settings.  I've gone through the troubleshooting steps  here  to no avail.

Here's a "why can't my players see anything?" checklist. The important thing is to verify . Don't assume. This list is written with GMs in mind, but can help players work through issues with their GM. The token is on the VTT It is assigned to the character The player has control over the character The token is on the Token/Object layer It is not blocked off by DL lines from seeing the immediate surroundings Make sure the player is looking at their token's immediate area. Shift-Click and hold on the token to pull the player's view to that area. If Fog of War is being used, that the area the token is in has been cleared The player has not been Split from the Party (Check the Help Center if this is unfamiliar) If Dynamic Lighting of any kind is being used: The token has sight turned on The token has a light source, or Nightvision (UDL) or personal light (LDL) In UDL it may be necessary to move the token one square to get everything working, or in extreme cases, refresh the (user's) page.

Thank you for the reply.  I've inserted answers into your suggestions below. The token is on the VTT   I've put the token on the VTT from the GM screen and from the Player screen, always just a black map. It is assigned to the character It's assigned to be edited or controlled by all players. The player has control over the character It's assigned to be edited or controlled by all players. The token is on the Token/Object layer It is. It is not blocked off by DL lines from seeing the immediate surroundings I've removed the DL lines and even turned off DL, same issue. Make sure the player is looking at their token's immediate area. Shift-Click and hold on the token to pull the player's view to that area. The only player right now is me.  I'm not ready to publish and I'm just testing by clicking on Re-Join as Player. If Fog of War is being used, that the area the token is in has been cleared No Fog of War The player has not been Split from the Party (Check the Help Center if this is unfamiliar) Not applicable in this case, I'm the only one testing as a player. If Dynamic Lighting of any kind is being used: The token has sight turned on It is. The token has a light source, or Nightvision (UDL) or personal light (LDL) I have set up the token to emit light (Bright 15ft, low 30ft). In UDL it may be necessary to move the token one square to get everything working, or in extreme cases, refresh the (user's) page. Not applicable in this case. I've also turned off explorer mode as suggested in this thread to no avail.

Hi LJ, I' be willing to take a look around and see if I can find the issue if you want to PM me an invite and bump me up to GM status. If you decided to do so, make sure the invite is in a PM, since an open invite can lead to potential vandalism.

Sorry to necro the thread, but I've been having similar problems and gone through a similar chain of attempts to fix the issue. However, the one difference is I don't have dynamic lighting turned on. Was there a resolution found? I've got a bunch of custom maps that I've made and would hate for them to go to waste.

The resolution was pretty straightforward. Mostly just due to relative inexperience with the system. In this particular case, nothing was broken. Could you go into a bit more detail with your problem? Describe what you are trying to accomplish, give reproduction steps, what you expected to happen and what did happen?

I did some more experimentation and discovered that when I was creating brand-new maps, Roll20 was automatically turning on dynamic lighting even though I thought I had it turned off system-wide. Without light sources, the whole screen was black for players. Turning it off via the individual page solved the problem. Thought others might want to know for reference in case they've had the same problem and are searching for a solution in the forums like I did! For reference: Click the gear symbol on the corner of the page. Check both dynamic AND legacy lighting to make sure both are turned off.
