A ship of explorers, sailors, and researchers set off to the edge of the known world. The researchers had dedicated most of their adult lives to finding the lost city of Murel - a fabled place of wonders from a time before The Four Floods covered half of the known world in water. The sailors have been promised their share and if rumors are to be believed, a sizable sum it would be. Following the researchers' clues, the crew came across partially submerged ruins - surely they were on the right track! The crew disembarked to investigate and found what seemed to be a map written in an unknown language. It depicted undiscovered landmarks and mysterious guardians who protect a glowing sphere which was shown repeatedly and by the drawings, seemed to carry great significance. The researchers took diligent notes, recorded all they could in a logbook before quitting for the day as the rising tide submerged the area until morning. The crew returned to the ship to see black sails on the horizon, heading their way. Moored and unprepared, they were quickly overtaken and boarded. In the ensuing chaos, some were killed, the rest are enslaved, the ship was stripped of its valuables, and the pirate crew sailed away, looking to sell off its prizes at a nearby pirate harbor. You are one of those explorers, sailors, or researchers - imprisoned and awaiting who-knows-what fate. The logbook must be somewhere nearby and the lost city of Murel calls to you. But first, more pressing matters need to be achieved. Like your freedom. A bit about me: I've been RPing for around two decades and have picked up a lot of best-practices from many sources. I go out of my way to incorporate any backgrounds, themes, or character elements that my players mention. I give tremendous leeway in how the story unfolds and enjoy being surprised just as much as you do. A bit about you: I'm looking for creative, mature, respectful, and responsible players who enjoy staying in-character and who can contribute to make the game more satisfying for everyone. A bit about the game: Terms like RP-heavy get thrown around a lot and I find those games still have a sizable amount of rules-talk, grid-based-play, and out-of-character planning. I'd like to limit those things and keep everyone engrossed in the fiction as much as possible. This will not be my story for you to be led through - it is our story to create and I truly do want your creative input. For example, during session 0, I'll be asking everyone for something that their character half-remembers from the ruins - something they wrote down, saw, smelled, or heard. And then that will be true of the place... at least to the best of their knowledge.
