Hey what's up guys? I had an idea for a fallout homebrew campaign, set in the very early years after the Great War. We'll say about 2095, where there's really little to no civilization. The perks is that the world is full of ruins to explore, nicknacks to obtain, ancient discoveries to be made, and every friendly NPC matters. I have a lot of ideas for this campaign, but my typical imagination only gets about half way. I have somewhat ideas for a BBG, but nothing concrete. It would have something a bit similar to Pathfinder Kingmaker where crafting (mainly just all skills) will have significance, meaning allowing players to build, craft, or construct what they please, where they please. Probably a long-running (hopefully) campaign where if the players decide to build a village they can, and roaming traders might discover it, then making a way for other settlements to be discovered. The world is mainly dead and barren. The only other life is primarily mutated wildlife. Now this isn't forest or 7 days to die where at some point eventually they come to attack and pillage you. No, animal behavior is significant. If you're in a creatures den or territory, or the wrong place at the wrong time, you will be hunted. I keep thinking back to the bear from Annihilation, except it's predatorial and territorial. Safety in numbers is important. Every NPC has a potential to be a "companion", but not every NPC is friendly. Most are not. The only other sentient life initially being Ghouls, but they are few and far between, either hunkered down in old cities, or living on some private, out of the way ranch. With perhaps an occasional human trader if the players come across a pitstop or trade junction. I'm going with vault dwellers, and the reason they (or these few) leave the vault is not yet determined, but the location would definitely be up in Washington. I don't live in Washington, but a dark, forested land with radiation clouds and creatures lurking in the shadows really goes hand in hand with horror. I with Washington State is the most that has to be planned, with the extreme being Shady Sands of NCR, but I have a few ideas on that. There's some conflicting lore with the inception and founding of the town, and I think that can be incorporated into some sort of theme. Now, with it being 2095, Shady Sands isn't really a town. It could be a trade hub, a village, or some sort of ranch. North California Republic doesn't exist yet, and the vault dwellers for its inception haven't left their vault yet. Anyway, I really want a hopeless, barren wasteland, with mutated wildlife and danger at literally every corner. Not 24/7 battles, but trying to incorporate stealth more, utilizing exploration, specifically seeking out special ruins for the special goodies. Trade is limited, most traders deal in junk or broken equipment, so if you want something good you have to find it. Crafting will only get you so far, especially if you don't know how to craft anything decent. I suppose it has potential to become a "Living World" or, I forget the D&D term, but where it's a big universe with multiple DMs. But I'm here for the horror. No one is here to save you, and if you turn the wrong corner, you could die. I'm not saying we're going to bog the DM with city building, or hiring a billion NPCs, but I do want these mechanics. But just as there is safety in numbers, the bigger you are the more attention you get. I surely want the Enclave involved in some form, potentially messing with history, doing Enclave things, stereotypical (and also not typical, let's have a balance of some genocidal, and some not) things, but also sneakily getting involved in things. Drop a virus bomb or Deathclaw swarm somewhere. And for sure, some BOS interaction might be cool, but I'll likely leave that up to the DM. Let me make it clear, I am willing to drop some money for this for an experienced DM and especially one well-versed in Fallout lore. I only know post-Bethesda lore, and not 100% either, but it's an enjoyable universe. However, I would prefer a free to play game so that we can gauge others to join. Please let me know should you be interested! But, just as an FYI if you didn't already notice, I 100% want to play a character, and not a DM. Edit: I forgot some juicy technical jumbo I am EST. I am primarily available all day on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Tuesdays and Thursdays I'm free very early or very late. I know the Pathfinder system, I don't think D&D3.5 is hard to learn for me especially if it's homebrewed, but I don't think I'd be hyped for the simple system of 5E. With a long-term campaign I definitely want the expansion of Pathfinder, being indepth. No simple pick up, grab and go games. Voice, price is negotiable.
