Welcome new and experienced
players, I am looking for cooperative, supportive, enthusiastic people who are excited
about having some epic adventures!
Hi all, I’m Sherlock and I am
putting together a group to play D&D5e on Roll20 and Discord
during Saturday evenings around 6 or 7pm to 10 or 11pm EST . The
goal is to have a group of 5-6, with 2 (or more) people who can DM. Ideally, the
two DMs would alternate running an official campaign (long-term) or game
every couple of weeks, or whenever the natural break would be. So, 5-6 people,
2 games with 2 different DMs, 2 characters (1 for each game-if you’re not a
DM). I will be one of the DMs and I am leaning towards running The Curse of
Strahd (2 nd run) or Storm King’s Thunder.
My
D&D background includes over 15 years of TTRPG experience, although mostly
in 1st & 2nd ed. and many years ago. For the last 4 years I've been playing
5e and gaming on Roll20, almost exclusively as DM. I have an old-school influence, so I tend to
run a challenging game (e.g., creatures use tactics according to their
abilities, some may try to kill and eat you, etc.). Players who know or learn
the importance or planning, strategy, and knowing thine enemy will fare better.
I invest heavily in my games, spending a good amount of effort setting up
encounters, weaving storylines, making custom handouts, and setting up killer
themed soundtracks.
Please do not apply if you
are a rules lawyer , i.e. someone who:
Can't understand that a DM will overrule the rules
when necessary. Will meticulously follow any poorly worded loophole
in the written rules to get away with total BS. Will meticulously follow any written rule in order to
shut down a character that isn't their own. Will conveniently forget the above when it benefits them. Argues often about rules interpretation. Objects to any actions not specifically supported by
the rules. Is a metagamer at the table (e.g., upset when a
monster isn't exactly as it appears in the book).
