[LFP][5E][FREE] New RP-Focused Homebrew Campaign Sundays at 7 EST (Maybe streamed)

Hey Roll20, I’m looking to start a long term story-focused campaign with about 5-6 dedicated players. I'm looking for players that like to RP/emote in character and treat the game like a co-operative story. Further, I’m considering streaming this game; it won't start that way but be sure to be comfortable with that idea. Also, have a good mic. The game would be from 7-11 PM EST Sundays. The first game is planned to be June 27th. Games that I run are more focused on role-play than combat. Without role-playing and emoting in character, combat loses stakes because nobody really empathizes with each others characters. As such, I try to run a game where everyone gets most of their enjoyment out of the other players’ characters, rather than mostly from their own. This style comes with the expectation the players emphasize character development and reduce the importance of game mechanics to the bare minimum. The campaign itself will be built around a foundation of episodic storytelling. However, as the campaign progresses the goal of the game will be to transition to more character defined arcs as well as a unified party narrative. This requires active involvement of all of the party members and GM. Expectation for Players: Additionally to the regular expectation of coming to the table with the intent to engage with the game, this game also comes with the expectation that each player takes on an additional job or jobs. This can be any number of things. For example, if you were a really good note taker, you could post your notes to the group discord. Disclaimer on Streaming: Currently, my intention of streaming is, after getting the group established, starting a small time stream. What I hope to get out of this is the experience of streaming with other people who are also dedicated to a game. I am not concerned about how many people watch it. However, I do want it to be more than just a record of my games, but an actual quality stream. This campaign will explore mature themes, such as discrimination, horror, slavery, speciesism, torture, etc. Before the start of the campaign, I will have each of the party members fill out the RPG Consent Checklist: https://thetrove.is/Resources/_GM%20Books/Adventure%20prep%20and%20inspiration/Consent-in-Gaming-Form-Fillable-Checklist-2019-09-13.pdf It is important to note, most things on the checklist are contained in the campaign world. However, this will help me push the campaign in certain directions and away from certain things. Importantly, this has to be cooperative; I don’t know your exact boundaries. So, still be sure to self-advocate. If you are interested in the campaign, please comment here or PM me including answering the following questions: What is your name? What pronouns do you use? What is your age? Are you comfortable talking around other people? How about being on camera? Are you comfortable with this being viewed by strangers on the internet? How consistently can you make the 7 PM game time? What is your experience with TTRPGs? What is your experience with 5e? What types of campaigns do you enjoy? What types of stories do you enjoy? What are the things in D&D that really get you energized? How are you going to make your character unique and entertaining in your role-play? What character are you excited about playing in this campaign? What are you excited to find out about the other players’ characters? What is a potential task you could do out-of-character to help the game?
Hello!, My name is David, I use male pronouns and I am 24 I am comfortable taking to other people and I have been on camera before. Assuming that the 7 pm EST is 6 pm CST then I can make it consistently. I have never played any TTRPGs besides D&D and i only got into it a year ago. I have played through about half of a curse of strahd campaign and some one-shots. The campaign was a mostly role-paying one, which I enjoyed, there was not that much combat but the role-playing made the times there was combat more enjoyable. I enjoy nearly every type of story, ranging from comedy to sci-fi and fantasy to mystery to even stories written in poetry. The things that make me energized in D&D is telling and worldbuillding a good story though interactions and role-play. I made two characters last time, one from a normally chaotic race that was lawful and the opposite. I gave the character a backstory about how he used to be the stereotype for his race and how that changed and how that change lead him to eventually choose his class. I left the backstory vague engouth so the DM could change it however they wished. This was the first concept: "Name:Mairon (that is not the name he was born with but one he chose after the Incident) ., Male, Race: Water Genasi, Order Domain Cleric(Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything), worships Primus, has two personality traits that I am still figuring out:2 Personality traits: Loyalty and Duty to the forces of order Some trait that conflicts with this Backstory: Mairon was once a chaotic and hedonistic individual but a Incident or a series of Incidents of whatever nature the DM decides, He left the place that he called home to search for a purpose in life. What happened after that is up to the DM but he eventually became obsessed with a Lawful Philosophy that goes like this: "well-crafted laws establish legitimate hierarchies, and those selected by law to lead must be obeyed. Those who obey must do so to the best of their ability, and if those who lead fail to protect the law, they must be replaced. In this manner, law weaves a web of obligations that create order and security in a chaotic multiverse." He also started worshiping Primus and the other inhabitants of Mechanus, believing that the order they bring will make some sort of better future." How do you like or dislike this concept? Should I reuse this character or make a new one and what concept should they be based around? I am excited to learn about other characters backstory and what the thought process behind them was. I think I could take notes or do anything else required of me but I need to know what tasks there are before picking one. Overall, I can handle streaming and whatever else you can how at me. I hope to play with you soon!
Howdy Mates, I’m Wonder (He/Him) and I’m 19 I’m comfortable talking to folk and being on camera, while being completely okay with random strangers viewing me on the internet. Assuming that 7pm is 6pm CST, I’ll be there consistently unless there’s a scheduling conflict with my work. Over the years I’ve played a handful of 5e campaigns, but I’ve only had one that saw it’s ending. I also played a few chronicles in the World of Darkness, VtM and Changelings to be a litte specific. But in the end my favorite parts of Tabletops and other forms of Roleplay is Lore and Character Development. I’m a sucker for collectibles and random knowledge, plus it’s an amazing way to expand a normal campaign to something fabulous. I’m your casual authority disliking magic user, perfect for any story line. This time around I really want to create and develop a character that doesn’t go from a traumatic backstory to a chaotic older brother figure. Completely okay if that happens, but not my intention. When playing VtM, I was able to develop my character in many different aspects since the system is extremely heavy on roleplay and player interactions. My current idea for a character is a Halfling Artificer, currently named Montero or Monti for short. I really wanted to look into the Artificer class after finding some cute art of a solid metal dog. Monti would have really dark humor if you can call it that, his main joke is that his dad is a Quarter-ling because he lost his legs. Don’t worry the dad loves the joke, Monti probably got the idea from him in the first place. He didn’t have a mom when he was going up, but his “Uncle” was always around to help out. I’m open to playing other classes, especially since Artificer is still largely home brew and in the works. Might consider being a Bard with a Rogue multi class, since I’ve never played Bard and Rogues are fun. Who’ll prevail: a farmer’s son turned Magical Inventor or a Sneaky Songbird. I love making connections and creating headcanons. Have an Elf character, make them the guild mom medic and keeper of the melatonin. Playing a Barbarian, make them mildly allergic to everything cyan. Not all connections have to be realistic or wierd, they can be extremely wholesome as well. I’m open to help out anywhere I can. I’m not that very good with drawing, but I was in music classes for about 8 years. If we could transport to a community place I would totally bring the snacks and extra dice.
