[LFP] [5e] [Free] DM looking for one additional player

Hey everyone! I am starting a new campaign. I already have two experienced dedicated players and we just need one more. I have played DnD as a player several times before but, I am new to being a DM and still learning. I currently have two members who are experienced players/DMs and am looking for a third to join our new campaign. This campaign will be weekly. We will be starting at level 1 and the adventure will be fresh. If this sounds interesting reply to the topic with your questions below. Game Description: The kingdom is embroiled in a war that has turned to a bitter stalemate. Word of a dark curse present in the village of Pelor's Heart has reached the ears of the Archmage Dunvall. Unable to spare paladins or clerics due to the war effort he sends out a call for any worthy adventurers to investigate the strange news. You are a band of adventures, fresh off the boat in Pelor's Heart. The note from the Archmage has led you all here. Your motivations are your own and upon meeting each other briefly you all head out to see where this adventure takes you. Requirements: Be able to attend the sessions weekly 11 AM AZ Mountain Standard Time on Sundays. 21 and up no exemptions. Have a good attitude. Things you need to be okay with: -New Subsystems that make the game more complex. -Homebrew that might not be balanced perfectly -A GM that prioritizes Story before Rules, most times. -Few guideposts. My games are like the Elder Scrolls. I give you hooks, but you have to set your own Goals. -Grit, Gore and Intrigue. Things can get Grim in my games and contain Adult Themes. -Being a Team. I very much prefer cooperation to a group being (unironically) at odds. Losing an hour to an argument about what to do next is no fun. -Want to learn more about a thing? Figure it out. Want to get into that castle? Figure it out. Anything's Possible, but you have to be clever. -Follow the leader or vote! If this sounds interesting to you please apply below and answer the questions in a reply: What's your knowledge/experience with DnD5e? What's your knowledge/experience with roll20? Tell me a little bit about yourself Give me a rough character idea so I can get a feel for your style/Tell me about your favorite character that you've played in the past We're going to be using voice chat specifically discord to play are you okay with that? We will play regularly at 11 AM AZ Mountain Time on Sundays Weekly. Can you commit to making the sessions? What sort of themes and concepts do you like to see in D&D campaigns? War conflict, political games, intrigue and skullduggery, etc.? What do you like out of D&D? What are some past stories you've played through that you've liked? Do you have any "hard NOs" or things you don't want to see at the table? Either player-wise or plot-wise. Would you ever consider running a game? If not, why not? Have you ever had a shitty Game Master? What did they do that was shitty? If you disagreed with the GM about a ruling, what would you do? What's your opinion of Homebrew? What published DnD settings are you well versed in, if any? Do you have any questions for me?

Hi, my name is William, I've only been playing D&D for a couple of years now, and almost all of it was 5e (aside from the one time we tried playing Testament, which I believe is a 3.5 spinoff.) I've Dmed a one-shot and I tried to DM Phandelver, though my players all ended up getting busy once quarantine was lifted, thus ending that. I'm pretty new to Roll20, though I have one game that some of my friends from school days play. In regards to saying a little about myself, I'm not sure what counts as relevant information. I'm an American, but I grew up overseas due to my parent's work. I'm something of a traditionalist, though as long as people are nice and don't try to force me to accept their beliefs I try to reciprocate. I'd appreciate it if there was a general avoidance of contemporary politics, I get too aggressive and fired up about it. I'm religious, and I'm a college student majoring in history. I like clerics, warlocks, paladins and sorcerers. In regards to a rough character idea, I always have several, one of my recent favorites is Bjorn, son of none, a fighter/darkness sorcerer multi-class. Bjorn never knew his parents, but was raised by one of his village's lumberjacks. Bjorn worked pretty hard and managed to get married and have a child, and when his village was attacked by a strange monster from the shadowfells he proved himself a hero by fighting it alone when all the others in the village either fled or hid. He claimed it's axe as a trophy, and thought to continue his life. He began manifesting strange powers a few weeks after the fight, and an old enemy of his who had been his romantic rival began spreading rumors of a curse upon Bjorn. Bjorn's family was murdered, his house was burned, and he was forced to flee into the wilds. Bjorn is a rough and callous man, who believes that might makes right. He doesn't value human life much, but he thinks that only a coward goes after women and children. He still holds a grudge over his dead family, and secretly wonders of his strange new gift could restore them to life. Discord works for me, but I'm not very tech savvy and am a little hard of hearing, so I apologize in advance if I ever ask for things to be repeated, or talk a bit loud. (Something stupid happened to me while I was overseas, which is why I have a hard time hearing) I should be able to commit to 11 mountain (which is 12 Central, right?) I like it if there's a bit of political intrigue, as long as things don't get to GoT levels of complicated. I'd like to know in advance what sort of morality is expected of the pcs so that I don't stick a super dodgy rogue into an LG/LN paladin party or a prudish cleric into a more morally grey party where he'd cause problems. As long as the setting is clear, I should play well there. I like a lot about D&D, the idea of playing a hero, the general fantasy environment, playing with other humans instead of just being by myself, roleplaying people who are nothing like me, and solving problems without fear of real world repercussions. I liked Phandelver quite a bit, and Curse of Strahd was fun, though I learned to hate my character quite a bit in that one. Rime of the Frostmaiden is one I'm still in, and it's pretty fun. In regards to hard nos, please, please, please no sex. things always get weird and awkward, and with my somewhat anachronistic mindset it's too much for me. I'd also prefer if there was no demon summoning from whichever side my character would find themselves in, its fine for monsters and villains to summon demons, not cool for heroes. Those should be the only major issues for me. I've considered it, and even run a one shot and a short-lived campaign. However, when I DM I go all in and spend hours making things and end up failing at real life things. In regards to shitty DMs, while I've disagreed with rulings and felt that one was a little vindictive, all my DMs have been pretty solid, and we've been able to talk through most issues. When I disagree on a ruling, I go to the phb or relevant material or make an appeal to logic (basic laws of gravity when magic is not a factor etc). If I'm proved wrong, I accept it. If the DM overrules me, I accept it after stating my case, though I may grumble to myself after the session is done. I've played a little in the forgotten realms, I've heard a little bit about Eberron, and I used to read Dragonlance stuff, though that was several years ago. I'm still fairly new to D&D, so I wouldn't call myself an expert by ANY means in any setting. I don't have any questions apart from those already asked yet, though if I become one of your players I will have many questions. My discord name is Kayneth, followed by a #8678
What's your knowledge/experience with DnD5e? Have been playing for half a year. once to twice a week. What's your knowledge/experience with roll20? I have been using roll20 ever since my first campaign. I use beyond20 the D&Dbeyond roll20 integration. Tell me a little bit about yourself 26, Male, Live in Arizona, Fun, Open, Charismatic, Im not going to be offended by small things but Im also not going to try and be offensive either. Im willing to not say or do certain things if it makes someone uncomfortable, I roll play a lot but I dont let it completely side track from the main goal and take up too much time and I try to get very creative when playing. Give me a rough character idea so I can get a feel for your style/Tell me about your favorite character that you've played in the past Im currently playing on Thursdays as a Female Aasimar Celestial Warlock who is the daughter of a Movanic Deva and I roleplay her as a sweet but fierce magic user that is very charismatic and full of life using magic and music to bring joy to those around me. We're going to be using voice chat specifically discord to play are you okay with that? Wouldnt have it any other way. We will play regularly at 11 AM AZ Mountain Time on Sundays Weekly. Can you commit to making the sessions? SOLID!! What sort of themes and concepts do you like to see in D&D campaigns? War conflict, political games, intrigue and skullduggery, etc.? I like them pact full of anything as long as it is sensible and fits the story/moment...I dont want to feel like things are being picked from a hat but I also dont want it to be generic. What do you like out of D&D? What are some past stories you've played through that you've liked? I enjoy the ability to work together with other people and combine items and tactics to get creative results. I have played a few campaigns but have rarely seen the end of full one. I am into horror most of all. Do you have any "hard NOs" or things you don't want to see at the table? Either player-wise or plot-wise. I dont like players who are wanting to steal or hide things from others that halt progression or make things unreasonably difficult. Would you ever consider running a game? If not, why not? Do you mean DM? yeah sure! I DM'd a Honey Heist for my GF and her Daughter. It was VERY fun. Have you ever had a shitty Game Master? What did they do that was shitty? Yes. He really wanted us to die. Also he didnt do well with creative players. Wasn't always sure how to play things out and usually just said "you cant do that" or would just make the situation stale and let me do/attempt it but it would end with no result or completely random results. If you disagreed with the GM about a ruling, what would you do? Ask for their reason but usually its never a problem. What's your opinion of Homebrew? Love it as long as I dont have to learn tons of new things What published DnD settings are you well versed in, if any? If we mean modules than none really. Do you have any questions for me? How long do you like sessions to last? Usually people do 3 hrs but Im always wanting to go at least another hour. Totally cool with sessions atleast 3 hours though. I just love to play lol
What's your knowledge/experience with DnD5e? I am getting back into it! I was a hardcore Advanced DND player! Very experienced role player, not. Noob! 5 E mechanics are simple! What's your knowledge/experience with roll20? Never used it! Tell me a little bit about yourself? I live near STL, Mo. I am a doctoral Candidate in marriage and family therapy! Going into private practice!? I am an army combat vet! I am experienced in tactics and play that way! I don’t play stupidly or take risks without intel! Most players don’t seem to have a grasp of common sense tactics! Give me a rough character idea so I can get a feel for your style/Tell me about your favorite character that you've played in the past! I have a 1st level dragon-born Paladin that I would like to play! We're going to be using voice chat specifically discord to play are you okay with that? will need some guidance on that! We will play regularly at 11 AM AZ Mountain Time on Sundays Weekly. Can you commit to making the sessions? Sure! What sort of themes and concepts do you like to see in D&D campaigns? War conflict, political games, intrigue and skullduggery, etc.? Don’t really want to play with evil characters lol! What do you like out of D&D? What are some past stories you've played through that you've liked? Dungeon crawls and typical Tolkien myth themes of good and evil! Do you have any "hard NOs" or things you don't want to see at the table? Either player-wise or plot-wise.
