[LFP] [Free] [5e] [EST] Looking to add one more to a fresh campaign

Hi there, We recently had a player that needed to drop to take care of things IRL, so we have an open spot that we want to fill to get back to 4 in a fresh campaign.  The campaign will be a mix of homebrew and published content with plenty of opportunities to integrate character backgrounds.  So, interested players should have a vested interest in roleplaying a character that has a deep backstory with motivations, flaws,  etc . that drive their decisions and be okay with inter-PC conflict as long as it stays within character. We typically stick to Wednesdays at 7 PM EST, though our group is typically flexible when needing to change schedule.  We will be using voice & chat through Discord so that is a must.   If you are interested, please fill out the following: Name & Age: Discord: Roles that interest you: What are you looking for in a D&D campaign?  What do you love/hate in your sessions?: What do you expect from other players? The DM?: How do you prefer to balance role play, combat, lore, etc.?: What will keep you coming back each session?: Additional info:

N/A:     Avis.  29    EST     Discord:     Avis#6626 Interested Roles:     Recently, I've become interested in a Dragonborn Cleric with the Twilight Domain.  I just got a copy of Tasha's Cauldron of Everything . It's been very interesting.  The Psi Warrior looks cool among other things.  Before I got Tasha's , I was working on a Half-Elf Warlock with the Archfey.  Depending on who's who in the party as is, I'm open to trying other classes.  What am I looking for?  What do I love/hate?   A grand time, really.  Hair raising adventures, but also moments of levity and tom foolery.  I also enjoy solving mysteries.  I'm also kind of inexperienced in role playing.  I'd say that I'm better at engaging and reacting to a situation, than starting one, if that makes sense.  One of my peeves, my last group whenever we'd find gold and loot, the "leader" held it.  If we wanted some gold to pay for something we had to ask and there was always the potential for them to decline.  Kind of lame, I thought.  We also ended up spending way too much time trying to sell things to vendors instead of exploring and having adventures in towns and cities.  What I do enjoy is the fun of hatching up a crazy plan and it somehow pulling off.  Being able to have cool moments in combat and succeeding ability checks against the odds.   What do I expect from the other players? DM?     Patience, respect, kindness.  It's been over a year since I last played and to be frank my party wasn't the best of players.  My DM wasn't that great either.  It didn't seem like we had a trajectory for the story, and they'd never remembered to include elements of our backstories into gameplay.  I'm hopeful that the bar will be much higher with anyone else I get to play with.  How do I prefer the gameplay balance?     A healthy balance of everything. I enjoy a feeling of an organic gameplay experience. What will keep me coming back?     Along with a fun time, a feeling of welcome from the everybody.
Name & Age: Joseph/Wolf Discord:  WolfPack64#5141 Roles that interest you: I have been wanting to play my kobold ranger of the beastmaster conclave with some of the new features added thanks to Tasha's. They already have quite the backstory written up and I got a pretty good grasp of how I wish to play them. Ranged damage with some minor focus on healing. I also want to offer a homebrew version of the kobold race that I have used for them before but if not wanted I can use customer origin.  I also have plenty of other ideas to offer if something else would be a better fit.  What are you looking for in a D&D campaign?  What do you love/hate in your sessions?: To have a fun time and get along with everyone at the table. I love good roleplay and combat. But will admit that I'm not the greatest under pressure/a time limit.  What do you expect from other players? The DM?:  Players: To respect one another and be friendly. DM: To run a fair game, and be willing to listen to their players, but also know when to put their foot down.  How do you prefer to balance role play, combat, lore, etc.?: I love a combination of it all. And am perfectly fine if some sessions are more focused on one thing than others.  What will keep you coming back each session?: Good suspense, friendly  atmosphere, and players/dm that I would love to play with again.
Name & Age: Triston/24 Discord:  Bagmannn#2197 Roles that interest you: I've been trying to learn Dwarf Druid. Druid is the only class I haven't played. What are you looking for in a D&D campaign?  What do you love/hate in your sessions?: I'm looking for a standard DnD session that is okay with jokes or alternate ways of getting a solution. I love when I can try new things, but if the DM doesn't want me to, will give me a reason that I can't do something. I've had DMs in the past who have shut down any ideas that I had for trying to charm or sneak my way out of a situation just because they didn't feel like trying to go down an alternate avenue that I presented. What do you expect from other players? The DM?:Other players to be civil but interested in the game. Same goes for DM, but if the DM can have fun too. How do you prefer to balance role play, combat, lore, etc.?: I like a lot of RP, some combat, and I try to pay attention to lore and story as much as possible. I often have to take notes on the story though. What will keep you coming back each session?:DnD as a whole will keep me coming back, but having good players and a fun DM wouldn't hurt either.
Name & Age: Duskers (Kevin)/27 Discord:  Duskers#3228 Roles that interest you: In my time playing D&D I've played the front-line heavy, the touch-and-go skirmisher, and the spiky spellcaster. I've enjoyed them all, so I like to consider myself flexible in my preferred roles. The only typical RPG role I have no interest in being is the leader/decision maker. I've never been one to trust my judgement enough to lead others. What are you looking for in a D&D campaign?  What do you love/hate in your sessions?: I'm looking for character relationships, character growth, and interesting plot. While I do enjoy a good combat encounter, they aren't all that important to me that I need them every session. The #1 thing I ask for in a session of D&D is, in some form or another, a level of plot progression . If the story doesn't move forward and we spin our wheels for multiple hours straight, it takes me out of the game. This doesn't necessitate combat, I simply like getting things done and feeling effective. What do you expect from other players? The DM?: From other players I expect a level of kindness and understanding. While I do not expect astounding feats of teamwork or even immediate friendship, I do really appreciate when each of the players involved can take into account each other player's goals and help work towards them as a team. As for the DM, I simply wish for at least a small level of leniency on the written rules of 5E and, as an extension of that, to allow players to at least attempt crazy ideas. How do you prefer to balance role play, combat, lore, etc.?: Roleplay is the #1 reason I play D&D as that is what makes characters come into their own. Plot comes next as I enjoy having a clear goal in mind to work towards, giving purpose to my character and their roleplay. Combat next, then lore. However all these themes can often tie themselves together and that's when D&D truly becomes great. What will keep you coming back each session?: Not knowing what will happen to my favorite NPC! One of the party members is holding back a secret and I need to know what it is! A small gang of trolls have just bursted through the town gates and you're the only ones that can hope to stop them! I love being left on cliffhangers. Additional info: I'm free all day every Wednesday and I'm often awake late into the night, so I won't be in any rush to leave and I'll always be on time for sessions :)
Name & Age: Logan/17 Discord:  An Entity#2040 Roles that interest you: I've been playing with a character concept for a barbarian/bard that has the classic "avenge fallen loved ones" backstory but has already done the avenging before the story begins and continues to adventure for the fun of it. Additionally, the bard part of the character cast bard spells and actions through painting/drawing rather than music. What are you looking for in a D&D campaign?  What do you love/hate in your sessions?: When I play D&D I'm looking to tell a fun and interesting story while hanging out with others looking for the same. If the story is about combat, lore, survival, etc doesn't really matter to me. What I hate to see is unengaged players just going through the motion. What do you expect from other players? The DM?: I expect other players to be engaged with the story (their own, other players, and the dm's) and respectfully to other players and the dm. This isn't me being the no-fun police and saying anything that doesn't drive the story is bad, just that everyone should be willing to be a part of it. I expect the dm to be respectful towards players, not railroad, and be open to player suggestion/wants without letting themself be walked on by those suggestions/wants How do you prefer to balance role play, combat, lore, etc.?: As said before, I like all types of D&D. Any balance of elements is ok with me. What will keep you coming back each session?: The thing that keeps me coming back each session is a narrative I want to be a part of and players I want to hang out with.
