Getting to the age now where I noticed I've been into D&D longer than a lot of present-day players have been alive. I'm a bit of a writer, so I have a good sense of characterization, story, and RP-heavy. Here's what I'm into: Good RP. Combat that is tactical. A home base that means something. Characters with history. NPCs with their own goals. Players who are agreeable, have good characters of their own, and can share the stage with the others, working as part of a team. Here is what I'm NOT into: No role-play. Characters that are just min-maxed to get a few bonuses. Players who do their own thing regardless of the suggestions from me or the other players. Players that can't work together and engage in intra-party conflict. Players who need their egos strokes out of game, are argumentative, or in any other way "that guy." Combat that is brainless and repetitive. Systems I play: Currently, 5th edition D&D seems popular. I've also done 1st and 2nd editions. I used to play Worlds of Darkness in the 1990s. The system I used then is old and outdated, and frankly flawed in my opinion. But I haven't gotten familiar with the new system. If your group is interested in hiring a DM who's been around the block, let me know.
