Fallen Empires: The Remnants of the Magistrata Hello there! Dangerweasel here! I am looking for one experienced 5e player (and then others of any stripe) who would not mind helping a DM/GM new to 5e. I am not new to D&D and D20 in general, but I haven't attempted to run anything since 3.5e and Pathfinder 1e before Occult Classes came out. I haven't played D20 since a Mass Effect coated Starfinder game about two years ago either. I mainly stick to PbtA, Indies, and World of Darkness but have been having a CRAVING for high-fantasy for some time now. I have the 5e books from years ago, at least the ones I feel like using (5e Cores, Volo's, Xanathar's, & UA), and after getting into r/RPGHORRORSTORIES I realized I could do a LOT better than a ton of these people out there. However, there is the obvious flaw: I'm not nearly experienced enough in D&D on the Crunch side and am used to Theatre of the Mind rping where tiles and miniatures are not used or rarely needed. I believe I am good enough to tell tales about the characters that'll be formed, don't get me wrong. But, say, I want to make a necromancer villain who has JUST enough of an undead army to be a threat and not a TPK machine of unfairness and I don't know what that might look like, I'd like someone to lean on and help me prep things while being able to be trusted to stay just enough in the dark to keep having fun. I also figure I'll plan some things which just don't show up or may not be seen through. I don't want to railroad, I don't want to metagame or assist in that, but I do want to run a fun and intriguing game. So, what does this mean? I want one highly experienced player (and/or GM, maybe even a forever GM!) to help me on the crunch side of things. I know enough of the worlds to know what I'd like in them, what I'm going to offer, and the like. In return I will set this game around your schedule . This does NOT mean you will be the Most Important(tm) PC, that you get to be a complete asshat, or anything of that nature. However I have Mondays (all day), Tuesdays (all day), Fridays (11 am - 3 pm CST), Saturdays (11 am - 3 pm CST), and Sundays (11 am - 3 pm CST) free for a slot for a 3 Hour per Session run of D&D. You will get to help shape the world like any other player and also get "first dibs" on Class and Subclass you'd like, and extra consideration that doesn't go into "spoiling other player's fun" territory. You also get a designated slot in the game, of course. What I am NOT looking for: 1. A fully formed group of players looking for a GM. 2. Someone with a set character from another game they are not willing to alter. 3. Someone who can't rp with people of different gender/sex identities, romantic identities, racial identities, or other identities that don't cleave with themselves (aka "Don't be a bigot, plz."). 4. Anyone under the age of 18 (just personal preference, sorry). Does this sound like you? Like it'd be good to you? Let me know in this thread! Wait, what world are you offering? I am wanting to do a homebrew world (yeah, I know, probably should stick to a module but if I did that I'd prefer to stick to Eberron and that schtick and I don't have those books) where there was once a great society of Arcane mages who used their powers to dominate the world and keep "lesser" people in check. A reckoning called The Rending happened, when the God/desses who had been shunned for the luxuries of Arcane Magics, dragons who found their innate talents being siphoned off, fey play grand "tricks" in war, amongst other things which has rent the old way of magic and the world down into a Low-(Arcane)Magic world. Major references include Dying Earth by Jack Vance, the Dark Sun setting & the Red Wizards of Thay, Hyborea, and Shadow of the Colossus. TL;DR I'm looking for one experienced player to have a game planned around their (and my) schedule set in a homebrew world that mimics a "post-apocalyptic" fantasy land. Looking for high fantasy but low(arcane) magic. Schedules open are above and if you have any other questions let me know, along with knowing about you! I don't need a resume that goes on and on but a bit about your history with rpgs and 5e in general would help.
