In an urban fantasy world with dragons and elves and orcs, but also skyscrapers and cars, you are a newly minted Police Detective in the central ward of Vale City - the largest city in the world. When murderers and thieves have magic, cars, and the shadows of the alleys to aid them, it's on you and your team to pursue justice and truth. As detectives for the Vale City Police Department, you will be investigating Thefts, Murders, Kidnappings, and Hostage Takers. Do your best for the city! An investigation and roleplay character-focused campaign with a focus on police work in a modern urban fantasy, this is inspired by the Unexpectables' Prince Division, and Crime Dramas. ~X~ About Me: I'm a heavy improv DM from Britain England. I love describing things, making characters, and world-building. I'm mid-twenties and have about six to seven years of experience playing D&D and Pathfinder 1e, and I've DMed two campaigns to completion. Work with me and I'll help make complex and interesting characters that will be fun to play. Do note that I occasionally freeze up and require a moment to collect my thoughts. Despite appearances, this is far from professional, and I prefer an improvisational style. Campaign Basics: This will be a hybrid voice/text campaign, hosted on Roll20 and using Discord to communicate. Sessions will take place on Sundays, starting at 8pm UTC+1 (British Summertime) negotiable. The campaign is set in an original modern high fantasy world where most races and classes exist (see character creation guidelines below). Characters will start at level 1 or 3 depending on party consensus and progress using milestone levelling. Playstyle: This is a character-focused roleplay campaign with very occasional combat. Character Backstories will be very important, and it is an all but necessity that your character has something to return home to. This is a rather slow-paced homebrew campaign, where the challenge comes in form of mystery and detective work. I know the police aren't terribly popular at the moment, but this is a fantasy. Please keep references and jokes about real life to a minimum. I just want to pay homage to crime dramas and the Unexpectables' Prince Division - real-life politics don't appeal to me. To wit, this setting has no entirely evil races. Every sentient being has the potential for great good or great evil, and there will be Goblin heroes and Goliath villains. You can play any race or species without fear of them being treated lesser. Depending on your choices, we may or may not use my homebrew guns. Player Qualifications: Enthusiastic about voice roleplay, with consistent availability on Sundays to fully participate in it. Able to play in an environment without too much background interference. Preferably 18+ and LGBT+ friendly, and with a mature attitude. Creative people with interesting characters and good roleplaying skills preferred. Murderhobos not permitted. Application Process: If you're interested, please fill out the short questionnaire found in the Applications thread. Have something in mind by way of a character concept so I can get a feel for what kind of player you are. Please don't be afraid to ask any questions you have. Community Forums: Applications | Roll20: Online virtual tabletop ~X~ Character Creation: No Warforged. Ever. Other than that and similar artificial races, all Races and Classes from most books are fine, though if it's nonstandard or homebrew please run it by me first. If you ask very, very politely I may be willing to homebrew up features for you personally. We will be using my slightly better standard array of; 16, 15, 14, 12, 10, 8 And roll-or-average HP, with max at 1st level. Community Forums: Applications | Roll20: Online virtual tabletop Thank you for your time, I hope that we can have fun playing together!
