Game start time is usually 5-6 PM CST. Sessions typically last 4-6 hours. Howdy folks, I’m looking for an extra 1-2 players to fill out my group of 3 on Saturday nights. This game is very RP centric with a focus on the zero to hero journey, where the small fish in a big pond must find a way to navigate a world that focuses a lot on verisimilitude and internal consistency and thus features NPCs with their personalities, strengths, flaws, and ambitions. Where titans walk the world and players can feel the quakes of their decisions, it is up to them to determine their own path and what they value most. There are few paths that are purely black and white, and what is good often depends on who is telling the story. Players who enjoy high drama, political intrigue, character development and growth, lore discovery, and out of the box problem solving are going to enjoy this campaign. The campaign setting takes place in the spiritual and mystical lands of Hanoi, a setting that has been created out of my desire to add some variety to the endless campaign settings that take place in “vaguely Western European country” by running my own campaign in a “vaguely Southeast Asian country” instead! The setting itself will be set in my own unique homebrew world where the campaign will be focused on a region that is inspired heavily by southeast Asian cultures, specifically Vietnam, and the fantasy created nation of Hanoi relies on a premise that asks a hypothetical scenario of, "What if the Trung Sisters won, permanently, against China?" Expect ancient matriarchies, dynasty feuds, royal family drama and incest, and a complex web of lies to play out before your eyes. The party plays as foreign missionaries sent from the newly established Kalmor to the ancient lands of Hanoi. These missionaries strive to not only court their people, but also their ladies of court and blood to marry into something far greater than blood: The Covenant of Tomorrow. An agreement between states of sovereignty to cooperation and collective security, to foster a world where the benefits of peace outweighs war, and to enforce a series of codified treaties governing standards to be upheld in wartime regarding civilians and soldiers alike so that what occurred under the mad emperor could never repeat itself. A very unconventional idea, especially in the feudal lands of Hanoi, where concepts of divine right and the monarchy are very real. War is a natural state to the war torn people of Hanoi who have had to defend themselves against numerous threats over the past thousands of years, and long grudges are held in stubborn beliefs and cultural divides. While the missionaries have made some headway into Hanoi, they have encountered threats and revealed some secrets that threaten to turn not only their lives, but their journey upside down. It is far harder to advocate for the covenant than they had thought, and now they’ve caught the attention of some notable individuals. It is this background that you will find yourselves in. Are you a fellow missionary who joins them in their mission? Or are you a loyal denizen of Hanoi seeking to spy on these foreigners? A revolutionary wanting to take advantage of these newspread ideals? A mercenary who owes them a favor? The possibilities are yours, and I always help every player integrate their character’s lives into the campaign and story to be as seamless as possible. As a homebrew game, this campaign will have homebrew rules as well as some restrictions to race and books as these things might not exist in the world.
