Dim tokens on player layer

So since being 'forced' into new dynamic lightning I have noticed that tokens on the player layer are like half translucent and see through to a really annoying extend, something that they didn't use to be with old dynamic lightning. Also the entire layer seems to be 'washed' out having this higher brightness level on it, that old lightning did not have. See examples below. New lightning: Old lightning: I 100 times more like the old lightning as things stand out a lot more crips and clean on the layer than the new washed out lightning. Is this just how the new lightning is? or is there an option that I'm simply missing?
FYI if you're using any DL tinting, it is definitely bugged right now, so I would turn that off.
