Looking for Superhero Game(s), GMTish

Hey, guys, gals, and assorted other beings! I'll cut to the chase. I would absolutely adore getting in on a superhero game, of some shape, make or form, be it an existing one, new, or whichever. At this stage I don't even care what system you use, as long as you bear with me while I get to grips with it, and I don't at all mind being in more than one at a time. I've been looking to get in on one for a while now, and it just hasn't really happened. I've tried getting my local group to play, but they're not interested. So here I am! If you're even slightly inclined, please drop me a line! If you're interested in playing, feel free to say so and if we get enough people we can advertise as a group looking for a GM, which might make it easier. Heck, it would even be nice to network with people that are into the superhero thing to chitchat about it with, or have as contacts in case something crops up, so feel free to shoot me a PM and ask for my skype! Don't be shy, folks!

Hello Hugh. I've been grappling with the desire to run or been a superhero game alot lately. Having spent the last 10 years being involved with fantasy games left me wanting something else. Let's talk shop some and see if we can piece something together. I prefer a more story driven game with very little or minimum crunch in other words rule lite system which puts most of the game systems out of the running. What limits things even more is that it needs to be free and I don't mean pirated free either. I know of one system but maybe you know more.
If you have any luck setting a game up, I'd be interested in playing, depending on the actual timeframe of the game (I'm four hours off of standard GMT) and if you'll be using voice (I don't).

I'm open to a play by post at first then transiting to a text based session. I find play by post games usually allow people to learn the system easier for there is less time pressure. plus I do text only due to hearing problems.

I have been looking for a Marvel Heroic RPG game for a whilenow, but wouldn't mind Another superhero game too if that's what you'll end up going with. I'd love to try to play, depending on date and time, of course
Hmm that would be fun. If we want a "simple" system then we could use BESM since it allows for quite nice custimization. But are you after roleplaying or rollplaying? As in do you want to focus just on combat or actually playing a role?

Getting a hold of the besm system legally would be a problem because GOO went out of business and they didnt release it as ogl. Add in the fact I dont have the money to spend on the book/pdf limits me also. It pretty much boils down to classic marvel or icons as they both are OGL and free.
"Classic" marvel being the FASERIP system? I never new it was OGL. Depending on what edition of BESM, I think there are online resources for the earlier ones. I've been running a 2e BESM game, and at least a couple of my players have been using online material.

The faserip one was released to be free and all the pdfs are hosted on a site for free. A classic marvel game would be ok but what type of game session are we wanting? I need text due to a variety of reasons for a game. Would it be play by post, live sessions, or a blend of them?
Mutants and Masterminds gets my vote for what to recommend to you Hugh. You can check out the rules at www.d20herosrd.com You can check out what games are actively looking at https://app.roll20.net/lfg/search/?playingstructured=mutantsandmasterminds And there are also Google+ communities about it and somewhat official looking forum boards . So read up, talk it over and happy hunting!

Thanks for the info John but not a big fan of M&M3e. If the others wish to go that route, more power to them but I would bow out.
I would absolutely love to join a superhero style campaign, and have been looking for one as well. Depending on the particular day I may not be able to participate but we can figure that out when the full group is assembled. I myself have played mutants and masterminds, and know of the Four Colors system (which is free).
..Remind me to turn on email notifications for this thread, hah. Hey, guys! Good to see a nice amount of interest here. System wise, I have the Mutants and Masterminds 3E book, FATE is supposed to be pretty good and I think the rules are floating around in free form, somewhere. Other than that, I don't have much experience with other superheroic systems, or free ones in general. Personally, while I do love some forum roleplay, I have found that play by post RPGs just..Don't work. They're incredibly slow and are almost guaranteed to die off without going much of anywhere. I'd prefer voice-based, myself, but if a blend could be done in a way that worked well, I could be tempted. I certainly don't mind fleshing out the roleplay aspcts via writing in some form. As for roleplaying versus rollplaying, and combat vs a role, I am very, very much a roleplayer over a rollplayer. I don't particularly care about the mechanics or the crunch, so long as I can play the character in a way I find enjoyable. I read a lot, and I write a bit as well, so it'd be lovely if we could get a group going that is actually invested in their characters, the story, and everything that comes with a proper dedication to the roleplay aspects. But, failing that, if I absolutely can't get that, sure, I'll settle for some light-hearted, spandex-clad punching of evildoers. So, to tally, so far we have; Myself, Hurgleman, Megan (Possibly, depending on the voice/text situation) Dartanous The Riddler Pat S
i might be down for some superheros

I fall under the above as well, and I would definitely be up for a super hero RPG! I too have been wanting to get back into one. The most recent I played was Villains & Vigilantes, but that was about 3 years ago. It has been all fantasy, comedy, and horror since. Also, I'm not one for the text thing either. No problem at all using Skype/voice chat.
I am interested in play this game too, but I have problem with voice gaming
I would be interested as well.
