[LFP][5e][Free] Second Spellplague Wednesday Evenings 7:30 PM EST

Game:  D&D 5e Group type:  Online / Roll20 + Discord (DnDBeyond optional) Experience:  4 months minimum Location/Timezone:  EST (GMT -5:00) Schedule:  Wednesday nights 7:30 p.m EST - 11:00 p.m EST  Roles sought:  1-2 players Game style:  HEAVILY RP-Driven. One combat every three sessions on average. Party level:  5 World Lore:  AU Forgotten Realms over two hundred years following a massive cataclysm restructuring the world's geography and the availability of magic. Most cultures worldwide lost all of their magic during this cataclysm, and again two years prior to the current date in the campaign. Very few cultures maintained strong magics, and while magic is taught to many adept students in more modernized civilizations, very few learn more than a cantrip or two. Only the most remote regions of the world lay untouched by the spellplagues, and a massive magic-driven organization stands in every corner of the world, with its heads in each nation working towards a different goal restructuring magic in its entirety. The strongest magi in the world are little stronger than fifth level casters, and magic items are near impossible to find outside of extremely limited regions, Eight nations and eight different storylines to follow, the party is only a few sessions in exploring the first.  World history for every nation has been generated out two hundred years prior to this campaign's start date. Much of this will be made available to your and your character during character creation. Disclaimer  -  I've put a lot of time and effort not only into this campaign but into this post in order to successfully provide a fun environment come game day. You are expected to read the entire post and reasonably meet every expectation listed below in order to prove to me that you are willing to put forth the effort to make this game fun for everyone. If it's blatantly clear to me that you don't intend to take this seriously in either your application or my meeting with you via discord, you will not be invited to this game. Thank you for reading, and I hope the below piques your interest. Character creation - I allow homebrew races (though they are subject to my tampering) but only official classes. Changelings and gnomes are disallowed. - Evil characters, brooders, loners, and characters that are disinclined to help the party are discouraged and are unlikely to receive the okay from me. - Select your stats any way you'd like. If you want all 18s, feel free. This is not a combat-oriented campaign, so if you want to break combat, I don't care. Understand that your stat selection method may influence your chances of being selected. - Play a character that you want to play; not one that the party is lacking. Again, you will rarely see combat. I cannot stress that enough. - If you want to retexture or rename anything without changing the mechanics to better suit your character, run it by me and I'll almost definitely say yes. Game Rules - Be fun to play with. If you're stepping on other peoples' toes and cowing party members, you're not gonna last. - If you disagree with a ruling, you are encouraged to bring it up via whispers or DMs. I will try to be fair, but that being said, if you rules lawyer or complain, you may be asked to leave. - Do not initiate party conflict without first asking other players publicly. If you attempt to do so, other players will be given the opportunity to veto your action. You may use deception and stealth rolls against other players by asking me privately if you'd like, but you may not attempt to steal from other players or influence them with persuasion or intimidation rolls without their consent. - Be respectful, and exercise good judgment.  - "It's what my character would do," is not a sufficient excuse for anything. If you're ruining the fun for other players, you're gone. - Enable others to speak, and do not speak over others. If you are domineering the session, you will be asked to stop privately, and then publicly. House Rules - You can cast two spells in a turn if one takes an action and the other takes a bonus action without either one being a cantrip. - If you use your action to ready a spell and the condition is not met before the start of your turn, you do not expend the spell slot. - If you use your action to ready an attack and you have multiattack, you may make multiple attacks as a reaction. - We use flanking rules. - Any effect that allows a reroll can be used after the die is rolled but must be used before the outcome is determined. I.e fighting style: protection - If a creature falls 20 feet or less, fall damage isn't calculated. - Haste allows you to take any main action, but the attack action only allows one weapon attack. Who we're looking for - Players who are genuinely fun to play with - People who can engage with other players and the world/story around them. - RP Heavy players Current Party Way of the Ascendant Dragon Order of the Mutant Trickery Domain Gunslinger Apply with the format below 5e/RP experience: Character Info      Name:      Race:      Class:      Personality + Alignment:      Backstory (4 sentences maximum, please): What you're looking for in a group: Discord name and ID number: If I like what I see, I'll pull you into a brief discord call; get to know you, little exposition for your character, etc. Cheers. ~Glor
Apply with the format below 5e/RP experience: 5e, 4 months DM and playing.  Character Info      Name: Rie Nirotsk      Race: Human      Class: Monk      Personality + Alignment: Wary with new people in new places but becomes chatty as time goes on.       Backstory (4 sentences maximum, please): Hermit; deposited at monastery  as an infant after parents died. Learned all she could learn there, although reluctantly at times as she was always itching for adventure to use the skills learned. Loved going to town to chat with the locals though was cautious to keep the face of a monk. Was encouraged to set out on an adventure after a prank went wrong.  What you're looking for in a group: The group I DM is very combat heavy so I am looking for chatty and an opportunity to practice my RP skills which are admittedly lacking right now but I learn fast.  Discord name and ID number: Krista#7975

5e/RP experience: Over a decade and easily 10k+ hours. About half as GM. Character Info: I'd much prefer to know more about the setting and other PCs (and I don't mean their class - I mean their personality, goals, and values) so that I can setup interesting personality dynamics. In general, I love to play as a sibling, child, parent, or childhood friend of other PCs because doing so immediately creates care and concern for others. I also strongly prefer to create a character that is tied into the story so that integration is as seamless and plausible as possible. In short, I don't have < insert character concept>  that I'm dying to plug-and-play it into whatever campaign I join and would rather build a character with the other players and DM.  There's my 4 sentences of non-answer. I could copy/paste other character concepts I have custom-built for other campaigns as a sample but instead I'll keep this short. What you're looking for in a group: I love a group that is descriptive in their play and stays in characters the strong majority of the time. I prefer when play stays in the fiction (instead of in rules), e.g. I make it plainly obvious that I'm eyeballing and scrutinizing this guy - I want to put him off-balance and see if he sweats or panics. Then I say, "Is that really your story? You're going to stick with that horseshit tale? Because it sounds all wrong." vs Can I get an insight roll on this guy to see if he's lying? Both in my mind should prompt the DM to call for an insight check but IMO that 'fluff' of 'what it looks like' is delightful. I'm not demanding that play be that way but I find it's just much more engrossing when it is. I'm also looking for real collaboration in the storytelling - with players and DM. Our characters should compliment each other and the general themes of the game. Players should know when it's their moment to shine and when it's their moment to shine the light upon others. Discord name and ID number:  Jay#2098 Note: I really appreciate your Game Rules: no loners, no Nuremberg defense for bad behavior, no rules debates, and no powergaming. I'm happy to see that these behaviors are frowned upon.
