(Party is full! It took hours to get through this during work hours, and I've still yet to respond to everyone. Thank you to everyone that showed interest, and I'm sorry I don't have the energy to run multiple games to include more people.) (New player friendly) Yes, this is an enormous ad. Feel free to skim it, but if you find yourself increasingly curious and interested, please give the entire thing a read. Please reply in Private Message. Comments are welcome, but I'd prefer inquiries be relegated to my message box. I pour my heart into GMing, it's the least you could do if you plan to my group. We will be playing in Roll20, using Discord to talk and coordinate sessions. There is no charge, the only investments are your time and enthusiasm! I have 3 currently and am looking to add ~4 to my table, as I'm interested in having a rather large party. I've run with large groups before and am careful to give everyone their time to speak and act, no action hogs here! I know how to setup encounters for large and small parties, and work to ensure combat runs quickly and smoothly, despite the large crew. While we will absolutely have combat, roleplay is our primary focus! Is my table for you? Let's find out. We play on Thursdays @ 6:00pm CST for 3-4 hour sessions on average. I am open to changing the time slightly, if the entire group can commit. We're looking to start July 15 or 22, although if we find some great players that need an extra week or two to prepare, I'm sure we can handle that. ------ Good afternoon. I'm looking to recruit a couple of players to my group. I have been GMing for many years, and have been an avid fan of roleplaying for most of my life. I am knowledgeable in the 5e rules and fair in how I interpret them. I reward creativity and creative thinking among my players. I'm a big fan of visual and audio aids, so expect colorful pictures, fun battlemaps, fitting music and sound effects. I am always striving to improve my descriptions and storytelling, and am open to feedback of all kinds, positive or otherwise. I do my best to bring characters to life using different voices (I'm not a talented voice actor, but I will attempt many accents, some better than others) and speech styles to give everyone their own unique bit of flavor. I'm open to using non-core material, we can discuss this if you'd like, although for new(ish) players I do highly recommend official material. The world I created for my players is a mix of magic and a bit of technology. Simple firearms, steam engines and even skyships exist, though all very rare and new (even shocking) to most people. Magic is also something that is somewhat rare and special, so ordinary people may only come into direct contact with it a few times in their lives. A whole world is ready to be explored, whether or not the party decides to follow the planned story thread. I am excellent at improvisation, and can always handle a party choosing to venture in a completely different direction. I have a world map with details on every major nation and city ready, for those that love to really immerse themselves in a world during character creation and creating a backstory. Using the resources available, including the GM, a player can also opt to create their own home town/city. It doesn't have to be something that already exists, we can find a place for it if you don't find somewhere that suits your needs. The campaigns I create tend to be fairly serious, with the occasional eccentric or even silly NPC. I tend to incorporate the PCs backstories and goals into the plot of the campaign, so any information provided for your characters may spark personal storylines the party can choose to pursue, or have old acquaintances and such play a role in an ongoing one. I put effort into NPCs, locations and storylines. I do my best to incorporate every member of the party, and will actively try to ensure all players are given equal chance to to act in any given scene. I know how to recognize disruptive and destructive behavior, and will speak with players engaging in such behavior. I'm not afraid of conflict, and will work to keep drama and other problems out of the game. WHO IS WELCOME AND DETAILS ON WHAT TO EXPECT *New players and veterans , who enjoy long format campaigns (sessions will be 1/week, lasting 3-4 hours, and campaigns lasting potentially 1-2+ years). --Understand that there may not be combat every session, and clever playing can avoid combat is many instances. It is preferred players keep the same character throughout the entire campaign, with exception to character death or circumstances that cause a character to part with the party. Create a character you don't just like, but love and also find extremely interesting and fun to play! *All players, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation and religion that want to keep real world politics and drama out of the gaming group. *Anyone interested in a role-play heavy experience , with an emphasis on the social side of roleplaying. Expect people and monsters to act & react realistically. Not everything wants to fight, and not all will desire to fight to the death. --If you aren't very comfortable with roleplaying, ask yourself if it's something you want to get better at. If the answer is 'No' or if you want dungeon crawling and combat every session, this won't be the group for you. Roleplaying is our focus, but the potential for combat will be ever present. Note that if you hate combat, you probably want to skip out as well. I do my best to narrate and encourage roleplaying during combat, but if just being in combat make you disconnect and get bored, I don't want to waste your time. *Players that want to immerse themselves in the setting and experience a unique, new world filled with much original lore, and become part of a living, breathing world...not just actors in a play with a script. Here your decisions matter and actions have consequences, and all players are heavily encouraged to form deep bonds, friendships and rivalries with the many citizens of the world. --If you see NPCs as simply the "quest-givers" who should only say 2 lines of dialogue, definitely steer clear. *Players who prefer having options at every step , including the option to simply step away from the path laid out before them. No rail-roading, no "cut-scenes" you are forced to sit idly by and watch. At any time, you are free to attempt what you wish to do. *Those who enjoy creativity and imagination being rewarded. Are you interested in joining? Then send me a private message and tell me a little about yourself, your experience with tabletop roleplaying games (if any) and what you're looking to get out of playing with us. Do you enjoy a serious game, heavy immersion and no one speaking out of character? Do you enjoy lightheartedly playing while chatting about how your day was, or talking politics while it's someone else's turn? Do you want to just have fun doing crazy and wacky things in the game, or really soak up the atmosphere and get into character for total immersion? Tell me as much as you'd like, especially where gaming is concerned. Personal stuff is up to you. Are you a good fit for my group? Watch this 16 minute youtube video and identify your 1) Play style, 2) Culture, 3) Social fit (if none of the options presented fits you, write your own and explain as best you can). If you message me, include these 3 things at the top and we'll know immediately if you'll have fun with us, assuming the rest of this ad interests you. Yes, I wrote a lot but it is a subject I'm quite passionate about. I hope to hear from you soon.
