LFG: Mongoose Traveller, Eclipse Phase, Cthonion Stars, Fading Suns... you know, good sci-fi. I would run a game but am currently GMing two face to face games. I really want to play. Any takers?
oh... I want to play Fading Suns again too.
Can you run it? Or help recruit someone?
Here is how I can help you recruit someone I can keep bumping this topic by talking to you about it.
I LOVE traveller...alas, I'm currently overwhelmed by other gaming commitments.
Eric, you might want to post when you're available for gaming along with your time zone.
Dave D. said: Eric, you might want to post when you're available for gaming along with your time zone. Good idea. Monday through Friday, 1 pm to 8 pm PT, or 9:30 pm on into the night Pacific Time. So I can play within any of those times.
I can run Fading Sus (2nd edition), but before we start we will need set some details
Im in. What do you need?
Hey Eavatar! I do wish to join a mutants and masterminds third edition game. As far as fading suns, I'm willing to learn (again) As far as character type... I do not remember the setting or system. I would prefer to play a front line tough melee guy, not a face, not a caster, please. And I do not mind playing as something inhuman. I live in North American Central Time Zone and am currently observing Daylight Savings Time. That said I am available seven days a week starting at 5:00AM GMT. I am also available many other times throughout the week.
Interested in Fading Suns as well if time is doable for me. I will let you all decide so I dont hinder anyone.
I might be interested, if the game can about exploration, alien-hunting and prospecting.
Okay guys, let's do the basics: Fading Suns is the Dark Ages at the Space. The mankind which once which conquered the space and proudly colonized all the possible planets (and some not that colonized) fell at the long and dark age where the Celestial Sun church had more power than anything and the brand new Noble Houses were the guardians of the faith and keepers of mankind. Here is the file with the basic background: http://www.mediafire.com/view/?9p8cson7szdgiq3 About the day, well, I really would like set a game at fridays 2pm PST, but I am open for negotiations
Time is fine for me. I have the Fading Suns 2nd Edition book.
For the ones wich have and know the system I am letting you chose military background as well from the Legions of Empire book
Don't have Legions of Empire. I was thinking that if we have an emphasis on lost world exploration which might fit with Mark C's vision of the game, I could be a Questing Night which would fit in real good.
Before I start the game place and all I want to know what is everybody character ideas. An off world exploration is fine, but by what he displayed he probably would feel frustrated when he notice all his equip is one step away to be broken because they are about millenia old or because his escort are using plain swords and some very old energy blasters which they would take a ship back to know worlds to refuel the energy cells

I am really interested in playing Fading Suns. I had the 1st ed. when it came out but my group never wanted to play it. I currently don't have the any of the books nor have role played in a long time but I´m ready to learn. I'm GMT+1. I think the time is good for me also, 2PM PST = GMT 9PM (I´m GMT+1). Let me know if I fit in and if I can play without having the books.
The game sounds exiting! I would love to join and the time is almost good to me (I would be around half or 1 hour late in each session though - work - and Mondays and Tuesdays are not good). To join to the brainstorming of the group, lets talk about more details. There is highly unlikely we would have our own spaceship, more likely the group has been loaned one in the exchange of certain services. So to keep Matt's desire of prospecting, exploring and/or hunting aliens; here is some idea that in my mind: Questing Knights and their retinue, The Company of Phoenix All of the characters serves in one way or another directly the new Emperor Alexious, nobles swear a term of fealty to him while other members from the Church, the Merchant League, or freeman (or even certain aliens) would either serve the Emperor directly (as the Company open to none nobles too) or some of the nobles. This choice would let the player to select a wide variety of backgrounds, though all of the players should have similar "benefices" (advantages) of some short, representing the fealty to the Emperor. Also to be part of the Company could give a wide variety of missions too, from exploring lost worlds from battling alien threats to confrontation with rebellious nobles. Members of the Merchant League Nobles? Who cares about them? All of the characters are member of the Guilds. Obviously everyone needs the pilots from the Guild of Charioteers in a ship, ship engineers, and generally the ones who are most close to the high technology. Maybe the ship is the base of a mercenary team having mostly Musters around, or the ship is owned by the Guild of Scravers, specializing to recover lost technologies and dig in archaeological sites. Or the Giuld of Charioteers supports the team of smugglers. Oath of Fealty of a Noble House Instead of serving the Emperor directly the team could be in service of a noble house, either having it's support from an NPC noble or one of the characters are a noble and having an access to some resources of it's house. Obviously the most important decision here would be the question of which house? But otherwise the team could be more free with missions, a wide range of goals could serve a house interests. The Universal Church's ship How about a team that serves the Universal Church? Could be a very interesting situation... Maybe it is a team of Inquisitors, exploring heretics and banned technologies across the known worlds. Or maybe it is a missionary ships sent to new worlds and lost worlds to spread the influence of the Universal Church and save the souls. Or perhaps they are a fleeing heretics, seeking a new world to settle?
@Eavatar, I have found the resource you uploaded and am reading it. I will be creating a character today or tomorrow. I like the idea of a brother battle which I think could fit in with any of the scenarios Karasu suggested above and many more. Regarding Krasu's suggestions I like Oath of Fealty of a Noble House best.
Out of Karasu's suggestions, I like Questing Knights and their retinue, The Company of Phoenix and Oath of Fealty of a Noble House equally best.
Where should we send the character histories? Here or to you via e-mail? What other tech will we use in addition to Roll20? Google Hangout? Skype? Will I need a camera? Etc.
We should coordinate with the character creation a bit: The Fading Suns' ships does not need a large crew, generally a smaller pilot can be run 2-3 crew and it does not even need to player characters: but if so a Pilot, an Engineer and perhaps a Co-pilot, Gunner could be a good characters. If we going with the Questing Knights or Nobles we should agree who runs nobles and who would play the noble's retinue. The in-game social standing won't be an equal as in a modern democratic society, the FS social systems are feudalistic and thus unbalanced So any of you would love to play a noble? If those players who would love to play nobles come from the same house, go with the concept of the team serving the same house, if different ones the best resolution would be the Questing Knights. I do have an idea both to commoners and a noble..
I was thinking of a member of the Charioteers. I have an interesting back story for him.
Great Eric, if no one else wants to take a noble I will fill a Decados or if anyone would like to run a noble I can make the ship's engineer.
Sounds good. Anyone else have any ideas?
As I said I was building a Brother Battle character that could basically hire out to any noble, or guild driven group. Anyone know when Eavatar is planning on starting the campaign? It looks as if he is on easter vacation now or something ...
Okay, it seems we are building a court entourage. My questions are: 1) Are you going to start already as a court? It means the other nobles knows about the court, the local guildmaster knows you are under some noble tutelage and so on 2) What is the purpose to create the court? 3) Which benefict a court brings to your character?
I'm ok to start as part of an already formed court entourage. It depends more on the noble why we formed around him, it depends on his/her goals. In terms of benefic I guess it could mean gaining rank for my brother battle as he is a soldier.

I know a lot of time had past, but I am back with a good news. I am going to run this game, it is the called The Shadow and the Sun. It is an Epic with a pretty good plot. (I try to give 110% of myself at every plot I create) And you can meet join the game at this link . The day is Mondays and the time frame is 2 PM PDT. Tell me when you can start the game and if the time frame fits to everybody
Well I guess things are slow right now, I still want to play but it will be a squeez for time. Mondays are not so good, to tell the truth.
Mondays aren't perfect for me either :(
Fridays?
Better :)
