You are walking down an unfamiliar forest path at night. Above, the full moon shines through the branches of the trees that reach over the path. Often, you hear something moving through the darkness on either side of the road, but you cannot see what is making the noise. You come to a bend in the path and suddenly you hear a flute being played. The tune is beautiful and filled with a longing for a time or place you sense is now forever lost. As you round the bend, a beautiful woman stands in the path, clad entirely in white, she plays a silver flute. Her eyes are closed as she plays and gently sways in time to the music. You stand still, afraid to even breath lest it interrupt her playing.   The tune repeats a phrase and then ends. The woman’s eyes open, they are crystal blue, almost colorless. She smiles and says, “Come to me in the Swavain Islands. Find the sign of the Shield of Stars. The need is great – come to me, hero, and prove your destiny.”   And again, you awaken suddenly, almost positive that those last words were heard after you already awoke.   Welcome to Wildemount, Hero! You have been summoned by mysterious forces to the Swavain Islands. It has been said by many that everything lost in the ocean eventually washes up on the shores of the Swavain Islands. Fugitives, pirates, criminals, victims, and opportunists flock to the islands, which welcome those who do not wish to discuss their past. Adventure awaits!   This adventure will have a balance of role play and combat play.  It will begin at level 3 and the first “section” will take the characters to level 7, with additional adventures possible. Characters may be created on D&D and Beyond (the DM will share resources with players). Play will take place on Roll20. All core options and Critical Role content is allowed. Otherwise, if you have an idea, let’s talk. You may wish to consider that pirates and the ocean in general will be playing a role in this adventure. Or not. The sea always can use a good meal.   Characters should be able to play well in a team – as this will be an adventure that will require party cooperation to survive combat, discover clues to mysteries, and generally cause havoc across the seas.   The DM, David, has been playing and DMing various roleplaying games since at least that time he was elected Vice President of his middle-school D&D Club     What you can expect from me:   - I like to keep this short and sweet: I am DM David, I have been playing and DMing various role-playing games since the time was elected Vice President of his middle-school D&D Club, this was back in the 1980’s. Since then, I have discovered the passion for storytelling and derive enjoyment from leading others through fantastic and memorable adventures. I am here to have as much fun and provide you an escape from reality and through you I took escape! I really do want to put you in that world, in that moment and help you bring out that inner bad ass that is your character!! Conversely, actions do have consequences, so things can go sideways if you go around murdering and stealing! I love providing an immersive experience, I try to give each NPC their own remarkable, but I am not a voice actor! This will of course vary with each group, but I am for a 30% RP, 10-15% exploration and the rest combat. I will by no means will ever make you RP if you do not want to, but I do reward good RP and inventive thinking more than combat XP. I run a mix of XP and milestone type system, that account for attendance, so if you miss a whole bunch of games, you might be a level or two behind the rest of the party, which is totally fine! Life happens, it is what it is. May the Dice every fall in your favor!!     -I have an expectation for players new and old to be respectful to the lowest common denominator; this game has always been a collaborative tabletop game, if you cannot be inclusive, kind, and patient in the gaming experience of others, you may be playing the wrong game. You are an adventuring “Party” and in my table that means if player characters have differences, it is highly encouraged to put them aside in order for players to solve things together. From my experience, PVP has always been a game killer, breaking the trust of character and party alike. I discourage it at my table and hope that you respect the actions of each party member. If you have to cheat and metagame to enjoy the game, I don’t recommend being in one of my campaigns. Let’s work together to have an amazing time.
