Hello All,
First off, I have to say, the first post in this thread sounds nothing like
what I've experienced with this game, so my only guess it that you are all
doing it wrong. :) I mean a friendly, not super competitive, atmosphere just
seems counter-intuitive to every experience I've had at my LGS.
You're willing to make allowances for new guys and not argue every rule
for 30 minutes before telling everyone they are doing it wrong, unheard
of. And where are the new guys hazing rituals? I mean the, oh so
superior attitude that creates a barrier to actually enjoying the game, or
becoming part of the community? Clearly you're communists trying to
indoctrinate the masses and not TRUE 40K players because they just don't
act this way. :D
Yes, as you may have guessed, I'm a beginner at the game, but I've
been reading the game fluff (background stories etc.) for years but have
never read the rules. I did collect an Eldar army but as my satirical opening
paragraph may have pointed out, my first attempts to actually play
weren't well received by the local Wargaming community, at least not the
ones at my local game shop. Thus my army sets forlorn and half painted on a
shelf in the painting room. So count me as a super beginner that would like to
have a chance to actually play the game I’ve already invested so much time and
money into. I don't know much about how to play various armies but given a
choice I'd like to play Eldar or Space Marines. My favorite army concept is the
Tyranids but I understand they take a bit of getting used to in order to play
well, so I’ll just start simple and go from there.
About me: I live in the EST -5GMT and
am free Friday after 8pm Saturday all day and Sunday until 9pm. Please let me
know who is available to teach a newbie how to play and I’ll be there. Thanks
for the invite guys and gals.
Peace
