Ch. 78: A Trip to Thundertree and Neverwinter City Before Returning to the Dragon Barrow

Sirus: Heya.   Roqar: Morning   Dungeon Master (GM): Hello!   Roqar: Hey   Dungeon Master (GM): We can get started here if you guys want to, Buddy and Dan are supposed to show up   Roqar: Do we want to in and fight the Witchfires?   Sirus: That's entirely dependent on whether Juan can successfully fight. Because really, this is wholly dependent on magic weapon users. Which would be Juan with the Lightbringer Mace, and maybe Marshall, if he can make his weapon be considered magical?   Roqar: So Juan Roqar and?   Sirus: Roqar has a good magic weapon on-hand?   Dungeon Master (GM): Marshall has a +1 two-handed greatsword, rolo a +1 dagger   Roqar: +1 sword   Dungeon Master (GM): so 4 people can hit with physical magical weapons   Sirus: 3. Oh. Right. Rolo technically can, but honestly he'd have better luck just using Firebolt. Squishy mage and all   Sirus: Although actually, wisps resist elemental damage right?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok yea, looks like it, you could test that of course   Sirus: "test that"   Roqar: Plus all the traps in there   Sirus: Yeah i'm going to just presume what the official text says in these cases. The most Marcy can do is try to reveal/deal with any traps coming up ahead And leave the fighting to the others, unless they end up needing to be rescued. The other option is to just leave it be, and wait until level 6 ofc :X Then marcy can at least deal full damage.   Roqar: Well I'm leaning towards waiting   Dungeon Master (GM): don't forgot that Roqar has the collaspe-able pole   Sirus: Mmmh.   Sirus: It's fine, i'll fill in for him   Dungeon Master (GM): Marshall had gone back down the spiral stairwell and even though he feels the Will-O-Wisps presence they are not visible to him at the moment. so you can have him come back up for now or follow him down after he gives an all clear or something.   Sirus: Come back up. We need a plan if we're going to go back in there. The wisps really are no joke   Dungeon Master (GM): Dan messaged me, he will be coming in   Roqar: Heres another thing, if we decide to come back later, do we seal it back up?   Dungeon Master (GM): Dia offered the idea of attacking them at night when they come out of the barrow.   Sirus: ....I think that's a bad idea, because it could turn into  all  the wisps attacking us at once. Which sounds like a good way to TPK   Dungeon Master (GM): They are incorporeal, so they could just do that in the burrow.   Sirus: Yes but they don't leave the barrow during the daytime, so we have that safety net there. At night, nope.   Sirus: I'll hold onto Dia for a bit then. The way I see it, we have three decisions we can go for. 1. We go back in there, with Roqar, Rolo, Juan and Marshall leading the charge and hope they can tear apart all the wisps.   Sirus: 2. We wait until night, and then do basically the same thing, hoping that we don't get TPK'd. 3. We abandon the barrow until we can hit level 6.   Roqar: I vote #3   Juan : 3   Dungeon Master (GM): You would be at a disadvantage due to the narrow 5 ft wide passage, you can really only thrust with your weapons, no swings   Sirus: Marcy's tail would be great for that, as it is basically a pole-arm attatched to her backside.   Dungeon Master (GM): There's Rolo!   Sirus: But, it's mundane atm   ROLO: morning   Sirus: Yeah, voting we just come back to the barrow later   Roqar: Hey Morning   Marshall : 3   Sirus: Yeah ok sounds like it's decided. Moving on.   Roqar: So Neverwinter and or Thundertree? Thundertree to let Druid know Dragon is dead   ROLO: we started early today   Sirus: Yes but we spent the whole extra hour bickering and accomplishing nothing :P And yeah I guess Thundertree. brb, bathroom   Juan : thundertree   Sirus: I forget if we even had business in Neverwinter Ah yes wait no that's right A bit of selling The gem Roqar got her hands on   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so basically a daylong trip up to Thundertree with a few hours of daylight left when you get there   ROLO: thunder tree is whrere the green dragon is from   Sirus: We can hit up Neverwinter on the way back   Roqar: Also to get the music box fixed or was it fixed already?   Dungeon Master (GM): it was fixed in Axeholm when a tinkerer lent you the tools so you have one box that calms everyone down the other puts you to sleep   Roqar: Ah ok For the gem  I know people  :P
Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so let's see if there is a wandering encounter, only doing 1 check:  6 nope so you are in Thudertree now   Roqar: Looking for the Druid Watching for Twig Blights   Dungeon Master (GM): see the map????   Roqar: Yes   Juan : yes   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Hey Reldoth! You home?"   Reidoth the Druid Says: "Yes, yes, one moment!" the door opens   Says: "Ah, Roqar, how good to see a pretty face in this deserted place!"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "We killed the dragons, both of them, with some help from Tymora"   Reidoth the Druid Says: "What brings you all back to Thundertree?"   Says: "Oh Wow!, That's good to hear, I did notice the green dragon has not been around as usual for him. The Cultist are still here though, hoping he'll return i'm sure."   ROLO: can u tell us where his lair is? or cultist?   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "If you need any more help with the cultists, just let us know. We'd be glad to lend a hand."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "I think the tower was his lair"   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "we wouldnt mind taking care of them as marcy has stated"   ROLO: did we get a long rest before we got here spell slots?   Reidoth the Druid Says: "Yes, yes, the dragon killed those big spiders and moved into the tower himself. The cultist are still on the east side of the village."   Says: "You may rest here in my place over night if you want to wait until morning to do anything."   ROLO: do the cultists bother u   Reidoth the Druid Says: "No they currently do not."   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "No concerns about what they're doing?"   ROLO: how many cultists?   Sirus: If I had to guess... 10-12   ROLO: do u know there leader?   Reidoth the Druid Says: "Not now that he's dead but they'll likely just eventually give up and go look for another one to worship and be henchmen for."   Says: "Their Leader is Favric."   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Alright. If anything comes up, let us know. Might...be worth checking out the tower sometime soon, though."   Juan Denero the Human Cleric Says: "those cultist are a bunch of shit birds following this and that. We would love to take care of them. if they want to follow something that can follow my xbow bolt to hell"   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "I concur....although, if they aren't causing trouble at the moment..."   Dungeon Master (GM): you currently have enough daylight to go look at the tower or simply wait until morning up to you all.   Roqar: Go check the tower   ROLO: check tower   Juan : OOC What time are we finishing today?   Dungeon Master (GM): around Noon   Juan : ok   Dungeon Master (GM): See the map?   ROLO: ok   Juan : yes sir   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Roqar: Giant spiders   Dungeon Master (GM): move your tokens where you want to go for all that Roqar can tell they are still the same dead spiders from before   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Gives one of the dead spiders a light kick just to be sure, before moving on.   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Walks up to the main door of the tower and tries it.   Dungeon Master (GM): At the top of the hill stands a round tower with a cottage attached. Both are in good condition, although half of the tower’s roof is gone. A door leads into the cottage, and several arrow-slit windows are visible in the tower. You can’t help but notice an eerie quiet in the area and a strange, acrid smell in the air. The corpses of two hideous giant spiders are sprawled near the edge of the pathway, apparently dragged there. Their bloated bodies are puckered and blistered, and appear to have been mauled by a large animal.   Roqar: Door open?   ROLO: do the spiders look like a fresh kill or old
Sirus: Can a good perception check give a better idea what exactly is making the smell?   Dungeon Master (GM): Old, as the spiders have been here during the party’s first visit. the door comes right open for Roqar   Sirus: Marcy was in front of the door first but ok   Dungeon Master (GM): The cottage contains dusty furniture draped in webbing, but nothing of value.   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "That...is far too many spider webs."   Sirus: but the dragon is dead right? lol   Juan : lol   Roqar: Hope so   Dungeon Master (GM): yes, dead but no one has yet cleaned up the mess   Juan : we could burn then webs   Sirus: Not much point to do so.   Roqar the Elf Rogue Lights a torch to burn away the webbing   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Sirus: : x Okay then. Marcy will just stay in the center then. To not get a wee bit burnt by combusting webbing   Dungeon Master (GM): I assume you put it out before it catches anything else on fire?   Roqar: Yes just want to clear out the webs makes searching easier   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   ROLO: i cast mage armor   Dungeon Master (GM): so if searching now give me rolls and tell me where you are looking   ROLO: if ididnt alredy   Dungeon Master (GM): ok rolo   Marcuria Violezi: 22 | 5 PERCEPTION  (3) Marcuria Violezi   Roqar: 13 | 10 PERCEPTION  (2) Roqar NE corner   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, Marcuria looks in the south west corner and did not find anything of value or hidden. Roqar did not find anything in the north west corner   Sirus: Avery is going to try the eastern door. Pretty certain there's actually nothing here.   Juan : 11 | 11 PERCEPTION  (2) Juan Denero   Dungeon Master (GM): juan did not find anything in the north east corner   ROLO: may itry too   Dungeon Master (GM): the eastern door comes open yes Rolo   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "Should i go first avery?"   ROLO: rolling 1d20 + 4( 12 )+4 = 16   Scout: where did you search rolo?   ROLO: preception   Avery the Half-Elf Bard Says: "....Alright. Go on. I'll be behind you."   Scout: north west and he found nothing there   ROLO: k   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Behind Avery..."   Marshall the Human Paladin takes a few weary steps into this room   sword at the ready 14 | 20 PERCEPTION  (1) Marshall   Dungeon Master (GM): The tower—a single room with a 40-foot-high ceiling. A 5-foot-wide staircase circles the interior, rising to the now-opened rooftop that allows the dragon easy access to its new home. Heavy wooden beams and stair supports crisscross the tower interior. There is an old wooden chest broken open on the tower floor.   Juan : 12 | 6 INVESTIGATION  (2) Juan Denero   Dungeon Master (GM): from the looks of it, the flooring for the upper roof floor was ripped out. ok, Juan is looking at the treasure, let's see what he finds   ROLO: 24 | 5 PERCEPTION  (4) Rolo   Marshall : ah so those stairs just end halfway up   Dungeon Master (GM): silver pieces, gold pieces, four silver goblets set with moonstones and two scroll cases stick out of the coins. Rolo did not find anything in the north east corner of the cottage   ROLO: ty   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Nice find...."
Dungeon Master (GM): The stairs end where a second floor would be, from the looks of the map it was ripped out   Sirus: Ok so let's see. What are the scrolls in the cases?   ROLO: did someone say scrolls may i see them?   Dungeon Master (GM): and cleared since there is no debris from it other than protruding beams   Juan : brb bathroom   Roqar: 18 | 13 Thieves' Tools  (2+0+6) Roqar checking the cases for traps   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, No trap found on the first scroll so Rolo opens it and sees it holds a scroll of misty step   Roqar: 9 | 13 Thieves' Tools  (2+0+6) Roqar No traps here   Dungeon Master (GM): Roqar did not find a trap on the 2nd scroll case so Rolo opens it to find a scroll of Lightning Bolt   Sirus: oooo   Roqar: 10 | 17 INVESTIGATION  (0) Roqar Anything else besides coins and scrolls?   Sirus: DM, Rolo and Dia can learn spells from scrolls here, right?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, Roqar digs through the chest and actually comes across another item hidden under the pile of coins!   ROLO: may i have the lighting bolt   Sirus: I was gonna suggest giving it to Dia... You already have Chromatic Orb and Fireball, jeez   ROLO: i have missty step already   Dungeon Master (GM): a rusty old battleaxe of dwarven manufacture. Runes in Dwarvish on the axe head. you can still cast from the scroll like an extra spell Rolo, however once you do that it will disappear off the parchment   Sirus: Yes but can the spell be learned permanently from the scroll? Or is it just a single-cast deal   ROLO: i was gonna copy it to my spell book then dia may have it   Dungeon Master (GM): he can copy from the scroll yes   Sirus: Alright.   ROLO: ty just to copy   Sirus: So they both get to add Lightning Bolt to their spell list.   ROLO: yes i hope   Sirus: cool. As for the misty step scroll, Rolo already has Misty Step, and Dia doesn't need it as she already has thunder-step I think?   Dungeon Master (GM): well rolo already has the spell in his book like i said you would be carrying it around as an extra spell to cast in an emergency Dia has thunder step yes, she may want to copy the scroll so don't cast it yet   Marshall : ill grab the four goblets out from the chest and ask   Sirus: We won't.   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "anybody want these?"   Scout: though she could just copy from rolo's book anyways   ROLO: yep   Marcuria the Human Barbarian Says: "Nice pieces. I think we'll probably just sell those in town, though."   (To Lady Roqar):  the goblets look to be worth about 60 gp each to you   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "sounds good to me"   ROLO: i always try to copy i am a sage scribe by the way   Scout: ok   Sirus: Are there any traces of magic on the battleaxe, btw? Or is it mundane   Dungeon Master (GM): no idea how that got changed to scout   Marshall : how much weight in coins is there in the chest   ROLO: would u like me to cast identify as a ritual   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Maybe clean up this axe, its probably worth something, anyone read Dwarfish?"   ROLO: whos scout   Sirus: Thankfully I don't think the GM is gonna give us a weight penalty for coin   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, are you counting the coins?   Marshall : yes   Dungeon Master (GM): 800 silvers, 150 gold   ROLO: nice   Sirus: wew Nobody here knows Dwarfish.   ROLO: is there anything under the steps   Marshall : split that seven ways 115 silver and 21.4 gold each   Sirus: Rounds down to 21. Thanks for doing the math for me lol   Dungeon Master (GM): give me a search roll for the steps
ROLO: 14 | 14 INVESTIGATION  (6) Rolo   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, to Rolo the stairs are solid stone, no hidden door or compartment to be found under them   ROLO: ty should i do preception   Dungeon Master (GM): no that was fine   ROLO: k ty   Marshall : does the northern door open upon an attempt   Dungeon Master (GM): yes Marshall   Marshall the Human Paladin Says: "hey ive found the backyard"   Roqar: Anyone read Dwarfish?   ROLO: no   Sirus: nope Nobody.   Juan : any garden with mexican lettice there marshall?   Dungeon Master (GM): yea Dwarven runes on axe   Sirus: Have to take it to one of the dwarves I think   ROLO: but i have comprehend languages   Sirus: You do? Then maybe that would be worth a try.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, if noone knows Dwarven offhand then Rolo can cast that   ROLO: ritual   Sirus: I checked lol, nobody does   Dungeon Master (GM): wow ok   ROLO: i do but ritual cast   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, and Rolo sees it is just one word, the word, "HEW"   ROLO: ty   Dungeon Master (GM): you want to check on magical auras on the chest items Rolo?   ROLO: yes   Juan : i can wellas   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, only the axe glows with a magical aura ok   Sirus: Yep. We got magic axe, for sure. Run Identify on the axe?   ROLO: yes   Dungeon Master (GM): yea he can do that just prior to settling down for the night   ROLO: ty   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Just need to clean it up I think"   Sirus: Right. The tower's all done, so we could head back to the village and rest for the night with Reidoth.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, looks like you can go have a chat with the dragon cultist if you wish, or right back to Reidoth and sleep for the night   Sirus: Reidoth. I have my doubts we're gonna get much useful anything out of the dragon cultist.   Mr Chiller: yeah lets rest for the night   Roqar: Especially if they find out we killed the dragon :P   ROLO: lemonds tiny hut   Sirus: Not necessary. We have actual building to sleep in lol   ROLO: we dont have to tell them yet   Sirus: besides Reidoth's cool.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so Rolo cast identify and sees that it is a +1 axe! who wants the axe?   Sirus: sweet. Let's see...who's missing a good magic weapon.... ...Avery, lol But I don't think she can wield it anyways No proficiency   Mr Chiller: i might be able to   Roqar: its not simple so Roqar cant   Sirus: d10+1   Juan : can I weild a axe   Sirus: Marcy theoretically could take it.   Juan : marcy also   Sirus: Ok, tell you what.   ROLO: hew? meaning   Sirus: Hew is a word as in Chop Slice+dice   Juan : chop   Sirus: sever flesh Let's flip a coin   ROLO: nice   Sirus: 1, it goes to Juan. 2 it goes to marcy   Juan : you can have it marcy i already have a magic weapon   Sirus: Marcy isn't a big fan of using weapons anyways   Roqar: Julian fries
Dungeon Master (GM): Oh, i should mention that Rolo sensed that the battle axe will deal maximum damage against a plant creature or wood.   Sirus: ....Alright, if you're sure   ROLO: i let them know   Juan : yeah amigo   Mr Chiller: yoink, i could use a magic weapon   Sirus: the battleaxe will do much more potential damage than the sword or mace, Juan Oh. Yeah. Let's flip for it then 1, Marshall can has 2, I take rolling d2( 2 ) = 2   Sirus: oof I guess it goes to Marcy then Actually, doesn't Marshall have a magic weapon already, or... Yes you do   Mr Chiller: oh damn i do haha   Sirus: So Marcy takes the +1 Battleaxe.   Mr Chiller: sorry my bad   ROLO: we are getting stronger   Sirus: Yeah. Now Marcy could theoretically go toe-to-toe with the wisps. :P   Dungeon Master (GM): making macros for the axe   Roqar: So next day, Neverwinter or check in on Cultists?   Sirus: Neverwinter I am thinking.   ROLO: cultists   Sirus: ....Why are we going for the cultists, again?   Juan : neverwinter   ROLO: they should be delt with and may have more info or magic items   Sirus: Their dragon is dead So it's gonna be a while before they coalesce around something else   ROLO: maybe they can summon another   Sirus: ....Ok let's do a proper vote on this   ROLO: np   Sirus: Neverwinter, or slap some cultists   Roqar: Neverwinter   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, I put it in marcuria's sub-menu   Sirus: I vote the same. I don't see why they're a problem, if Reidoth isn't bothered. Thanks. Not gonna go pound them just for loot's sake.   Mr Chiller: neverwinter   ROLO: cultist then neverwinter   Sirus: 3 for neverwinter, 1 for cultist   ROLO: but i will go with the majority   Roqar: In Character They are no problem   Sirus: ...Yeah I think we're gonna just head out in the morning. Make sure slots are refilled btw   ROLO: i hope your right   Sirus: Even if i'm wrong, in-character my characters have no reason to go after them.   Roqar: Same here Anything besides Eye of Gruumsh to sell?   Dungeon Master (GM): this is the Driftwood Inn in Neverwinter city   ROLO: out of game i am neutral evil and very power hungry brb   Roqar: Roqar goes to her Guildmother to fence the gem   Sirus: The goblets can sell The goblets from the chest   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Roqar: and the goblets anyone except Mars can come with :P   ROLO: how much gp and sp to add to my sheet? ty   Sirus: I just noticed, Marcy apparently has 3 100 GP diamonds on her?   Roqar: so far just 115 sp 21 gp   ROLO: ty   Dungeon Master (GM): the guildmother offers Roqar 200 for the eye of Grummsh   Sirus: let's gooooo I forget, are diamonds used for anything?   ROLO: spell componets   Mr Chiller: how much for this unique set o' goblets here   Roqar: 21 | 7 PERSUASION  (1) Roqar   Dungeon Master (GM): they could be ground up for spell components for one or for trade   Sirus: Probably best to hold onto them then.   ROLO: yes   Marshall : copy that   ROLO: np   Roqar: Can I get 300 gold for it? it was a lot of trouble and danger?   Sirus: I detect critical success on haggling   ROLO: lol
Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d20( 9 ) = 9   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, i did a roll to see if she would beat that persuasion and no so she is willing to give you the 300   Sirus: 42.85 gold for each of us. Nice.   Roqar: Did I take the Goblets also? WAIT!!   Dungeon Master (GM): you selling the goblets to her as well Roqar?   Roqar: Sure see how much I can get   Dungeon Master (GM): she offers you 60 for each one   ROLO: i would like to copy lighting bolt to my spell book with my downtime   Roqar: 3 | 9 PERSUASION  (1) Roqar   Dungeon Master (GM): I thought you already had it in the book but ok, you can copy it if not   Sirus: So that's...540 GP total?   Dungeon Master (GM): rolling d20( 18 ) = 18   Sirus: oof, no haggling on the goblets   Dungeon Master (GM): She sticks to the 60 gp offer for each one   ROLO: no i didnt have it   Roqar: I'll take it   Sirus: That ends up being 77 GP, 1 SP and 4 CP for everyone when said and done   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so 60 * 4   Sirus: If my math is right.   Dungeon Master (GM): I should point out that a coffer was also in the chest you found ..... holding three 100 gp diamonds in it   Sirus: lol ok, those we are gonna sell. We already have 3. Time to start building up the big monies, honestly So the 3 diamonds and selling the coffer itself   Dungeon Master (GM): The dragon acquired it in the timeframe of the module events so he would have it in the chest now as well.   Sirus: May as well sell that as well   Roqar: 15 | 21 PERSUASION  (1) Roqar   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d20( 1 ) = 1   Sirus: GM, how much can we get for the 3 100 GP diamonds and the coffer therefore   Dungeon Master (GM): she will pay you the 100 for each diamond roqar   Sirus: How about the coffer itself   Roqar: 8 | 7 PERSUASION  (1) Roqar   Dungeon Master (GM): well, no value was given for it, but make an offer   Sirus: ....10 GP?   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d20( 16 ) = 16   Dungeon Master (GM): she'll take the coffer as well for 10 gp   Sirus: That makes the earnings 850 GP.   ROLO: cool   Sirus: 121 GP for each, as well as 4 silver and 2 copper.   Juan : sweet   ROLO: ty   Dungeon Master (GM): anything more while in Neverwinter? where do you go next? Back to the Barrow?   Sirus: Actually Maybe a little bit of shopping is in order?   Dungeon Master (GM): if you need to, have at it   Sirus: Right. Lemme just update our monies first.   Dungeon Master (GM): Rolo you have enough spell components?   Sirus: Can we get some of our smaller currencies traded up into higher value coins? I feel stupid with Avery having like 590 silver in her pocket   Dungeon Master (GM): yes   Sirus: It's 10 SP for an EP right?   ROLO: how much should i have   Sirus: I'll get to it.   Dungeon Master (GM): Monetary Conversion: 10 Copper Pieces = 1 Silver Piece 20 Silver Pieces = 1 Gold Piece 2 Electrum Pieces = 1 Gold Piece 1 Platinum Piece = 5 Gold Pieces   Dungeon Master (GM): Thus 200 c.p. = 20 s.p. = 2 e.p. = 1 g.p. = 1/5 p.p.   Sirus: Yes, so 10 silver is 1 electrum Thought so And then 2 electrum for 1 GP Juan has like 300 GP about now   ROLO: ty   Roqar: A formal gown just in case something comes up :P   Sirus: Yeah right. Roqar gonna be itching for a wedding dress by the end of this campaign.   Dungeon Master (GM): ha ha!   Roqar: haha only if its prince charming   Sirus: There's a couple of strong contenders i'm sure
Ok Rolo, updated your monies 337 GP, 51 EP, 176 SP, 236 CP   Roqar: Better to be prepared it can sit on a mannequin at her house hehe   Sirus: Roqar has almost 600 GP yeesh, yikes, lawl   Roqar: yep   Sirus: Might even be ready to get some platinum soon Okay yeah, gonna want to trade up some lesser currency   ROLO: ty   Dungeon Master (GM): getting rich enough to buy all of Phandalin   Roqar: going to adjust it during downtime home remodeling   Sirus: Avery: 300 CP into 30 SP. 400 SP into 40 EP. 100 EP into 50 GP.   ROLO: how much to copy the lightning spell is it 50 gp per lev of spell?   Dungeon Master (GM): I can't remember exactly   Sirus: 2 hours, 50 gp Per level   Dungeon Master (GM): For each level of the spell, the process takes 2 hours and costs 50 gp. The cost represents material components you expend as you experiment with the spell to master it, as well as the fine inks you need to record it. Once you have spent this time and money, you can prepare the spell just like your other spells   Sirus: What level is Lightning Bolt?   ROLO: 3rd   Roqar: 3rd   Sirus: So that's 6 hours and 150 GP.   ROLO: ty   Sirus: That would cut your finances pretty good. Ask Roqar for a loan xD   ROLO: i will subtract the gp   Roqar: with interest   Sirus: Ok so, currency changing is done. I think I might want to see what's available at the shops before we go While Rolo's copying his funny spells   Dungeon Master (GM): what do Avery and Marcuria need to buy?   Sirus: Well, I am curious to see what there is for weapons/armor. Possibly interested in any special arrows, or armor and the like   Roqar: Formal gown shopping expecting to come back to get it   ROLO: Abjuration 3 Components:  V, S, M SPELL SAVE DC : 14 SPELL SLOT LEVEL 31 OF 2 REMAINING   Dungeon Master (GM): ok Roqar ok, whatever you need to buy from the equipment / arms /armor list just add to sheet and subtract the cost   Sirus: Right...let me go look at 5etools then   Dungeon Master (GM): while that is being done discuss where to go next and vote on it   ROLO: isubtracted gp for the lighting bolt spell do u want me to give the scroll to dia when im done with it i could copy it for her as well   Sirus: Elizabeth would have to choose honestly Ok, so DM, what about +1 arrows perhaps   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, Rolo   Sirus: 5e tools doesn't actually suggest a price so that's on you   Dungeon Master (GM): no +1 arrows to buy in town   Sirus: Alright then. I'll try to keep it to mundane stuff then Studded Leather Armor?   Dungeon Master (GM): well going with the 50 gp per level thing I guess it would be basic cost + 50 gp for a +1 arrow, 100 gp per level for larger items   Sirus: Actually...hang on Avery's AC is wrong atm It shouldn't be 17.   Dungeon Master (GM): fix it up   Sirus: That said I think we can boost Avery's AC to 16 with Studded Leather Armor If that's gettable   Dungeon Master (GM): if you have the cash you can buy it in neverwinter   Sirus: Yeah it's 35 GP 45 excuse me And she will probably sell the regular leather she's been using up until now as well So that would be...5 GP? Meaning the real cost is 40   Dungeon Master (GM): alright   Sirus: Done. AC is now 16.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   ROLO: cool could i use a sheild   Sirus: Would it be possible for common magical items to be there in Neverwinter?   Dungeon Master (GM): not right now no   Sirus: or minor stuff rather, ok.   Marshall : back to the dragon barrow, or do we have another quest   ROLO: or a ring of protection cost?   Sirus: I gotta finish me shopping first. lol   ROLO: np   Marshall : sorry   Sirus: As for Marcy.... Eh, Marcy's fine really.
Potions next.   Roqar: Still could investigate "Eris" and "Home" from Orcs map   Sirus: Can we get antidotes?   ROLO: white dragon lair?   Sirus: Or potion of poison resist   Dungeon Master (GM): really should try to get the barrow out of the way so there's less back tracking!   ROLO: k   Sirus: Yeah well you should've had us wait until level 6. : X Because them wisps be agony   ROLO: we are close   Sirus: Frustratingly close. Anyways, GM, how about buying antidote potion or poison resist potion?   Dungeon Master (GM): i'm sure it was designed so that you could do the barrow before you fought the dragons anyways. No, nothing magical   ROLO: brb   Dungeon Master (GM): you can try making them yourself   Sirus: Not even healing potions huh? So Neverwinter just doesn't have a potion shop at all?   Dungeon Master (GM): or hire one of the magic-users in town to make them for you   Juan : that sounds good   Dungeon Master (GM): next up you'll want me to roll to see if a witcher is in town with a wagon of potion and cures alls! ;p   Sirus: ....I guess it's Sister Gareale or nothing.   Roqar: Yep   Marshall : shes in phandalin right   Sirus: yes "hire one of the magic-users in town" Wouldn't you need alchemy tools and proficiency to make potions?   ROLO: back   Sirus: To do it yourself?   Dungeon Master (GM): they would have it and neverwinter would be pricey   Sirus: Unfortunately, none of us really have proficiency with those tools at all, so it's not really a good idea to try and make it ourselves   Dungeon Master (GM): with them being the actual rulers of the town now, unlikely the lady buried at the barrow's family   Sirus: Most of us are thieves tools lawl   ROLO: where we headed next?   Sirus: Hang on, i'm just thinking   ROLO: np   Roqar: Will o Wisps   ROLO: ty   Sirus: Would Sister Garaele be able to make a couple of antidote potions for curing poison and such? Because at this rate, if so, maybe just do that the next time we make it back to Phandalin. Good idea to maybe grab some stuff as a Just-In-Case   Dungeon Master (GM): I can make a roll on it to see she she will do so   Sirus: It feels like something she ought to be able to make happen Actually... Juan has a rather high medicine stat So if anyone here was gonna turn into a potionmaker it'd have to be him +5   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, so now we are heading to?   Sirus: ....I guess we need to take care of the wisps. What time of day is it going to be when we get back to the barrow?   Dungeon Master (GM): 24 miles a day you cover 26 mile trip   Sirus: So the following day then It is 12 now Btw   Dungeon Master (GM): yes so we can stop here, right were we started and continue next week!   Sirus: Righto. See you.   Roqar: What time next week?   Sirus: The usual I would hope?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, folks thanks for playing today and see you all next week in August!   Roqar: Ok CYA   ROLO: ty later
