R20 becoming very unstable/laggy on Firefox

I've been encountering significant issues on Firefox in the last few weeks on R20 that just months ago ran smoothly on the same areas/maps, including the following: - Heavy game lag on maps when moving objects or tokens (it usually misses the first move with Q, resulting in things going where they shouldn't.) - Text entry lag in chat (especially when holding backspace to delete) - Home/End buttons do not work in in game chat but do work in other text entry places like journal (This was reported months back by several people, still no word on this... It makes typing for roleplay a nightmare) - Lag when shifting current view via right click and drag This is all when running Firefox 90.0.2 (64-bit). I've tried Chrome and it fixes some of these (text entry issues) but Chrome has always lagged a bit in some areas and was unusuable on some lighting heavy maps. I'm running Windows 7, but it worked flawlessly up until a few weeks ago. The Home/End button issue happens for people of all Windows OS' that I know. I have not changed PC at all, nor any PC software, nor my internet provider or connection, I get 170MB as standard so it's definitely not internet connection issues. This is really starting to affect my games as it makes complex scenarios and asset heavy maps very difficult to run or risks making game-spoiling mistakes as a GM when moving things around. Is there anything can be updated to make Firefox work like it used to even just months ago where it all ran smoothly? Whatever's changed with either FF or R20, it's made it hellish now. Cheers.

Hi Fuzzy, Can't answer to the other issues, but text lag such as you describe on Firefox is an often reported issue that is usually fixed by turning off autofill and autocomplete.

Hi Keith, I can maybe give that a shot for the text lag, but that would also mean losing all my saved logins, not altogether an ideal long term thing if so. Thanks for the workaround though if it's causing issues during gametime. Would be great to have R20 solve these issues, been ongoing constantly since updates.
Under Preferences > Privacy and Security you can uncheck "Autofill adresses" and "Autofill credit cards" and leave "Autofill logins and passwords" checked. If the autofill settings are what are causing the text lag, that change should improve things without interfering with your saved logins. The graphics stuff might be another issue.

It's been a problem for 4-5 years, since Quantum or before. Home/End is a recent issue, that they have not made a public statement about. The other issues might be improved by following Best Practices: smaller maps, simpler lighting, fewer characters, without a preponderance of spells and so forth. It's a constant battle when your app is dependent on evolving browser code.

Map wise, unfortunately it's kind of difficult for me. I relish in making lavish maps (animations, lighting, object detail etc) with it being a key point to my games and until a few weeks ago it all ran fine. I'll maybe try cleaning out cookies, turn off auto-save during games for the text, refresh the page every so often etc. Thanks for the replies though, I can test out for this text thing!

I've seen a resurgence lately in reports like this. It may be that Firefox or Roll20 have had a code update, but by all reports, changing the settings still works.
One thing to check, make sure hardware acceleration option is turned on in your browser.  It could improve performance noticeably.
