Full group looking for a GM for a story focused game.

Hey guys! Over the last twenty four hours I've received some really awesome responses from people looking for the same thing that I am--a PnP game that is focused on the overall story of the game. All we need at this stage is a GM who is willing to craft a rich world to let us loose in. =) Before I start in on the specifics of what we're looking for, I'd like to first caution any applicants that the four players in this group are all in different time zones, so there isn't a tremendous amount of flexibility on when the timing for such a game could be. We have a player in England, Brazil, and the last two players are on the opposite coasts of the US/Canada. The time we've all tentatively agreed to so far is 22:00 UTC. The player furthest from this time zone is an eight hour difference, so the game would be starting at 14:00 (2:00pm) for them. With all of this said, if you are really interested in playing with us, I encourage you to contact me anyways and we can see if we can work something out. No harm in trying right? Okay, with that business out of the way, let's focus on more specifics of what we're looking for. All of us are experienced players and most, if not all, of us have been GMs at one point in time or another. Some of us have over a decade of experience each. We have all come together with a mutual desire to have a mature, adult game. That means that we all have agreed that we can talk through issues of any type that may crop up in or out of character. This seems like a simple thing, but I've noticed many groups lack this kind of agreement and thus things can devolve into arguments and petty nonsense. In other words, we don't need our GM to be a baby sitter, we need them to be the narrator of our adventure and the crafter of the world. All of us are experienced with D&D and Pathfinder (at least to a degree in my case). Beyond that our experiences vary widely. All of us are open to whatever system a competent GM would operate best under for the purpose of creating an interesting story. This gives you a lot of license. Obviously we tend to be more experienced in a fantasy setting, but I think we could all operate well in an Edge of the Empire game, a White Wolf game, or some other system that is based somewhat on narrative. I personally have had great experiences with games set in the Warcraft universe (if anyone is interested in running a game like this I have all of the RPG books as pdfs that I'd be willing to share). I'm just tossing out ideas; you tell us what you'd like to run with a group that are focused on the story. Here are some of the things that we are most interested in seeing from such a game: first of all, we want a long term group that starts from the very beginning (level one) and goes all the way to level 20 (or 30 if you count Mythic or what have you). This is more a goal than an absolute must; obviously if the story has a neat ending somewhere prior to this, then yeah, story comes first. The idea is that we want an epic adventure that starts from humble beginnings. We also have a lot of interest in something along the lines of Kingmaker--doesn't have to be Kingmaker itself, but something along the lines of kingdom building, army combat, and a grander world. At the moment this is what comes to mind, though I'm sure I'll think of something more later and/or the others will post some things they specifically would like to see. If you want to get a feel for our level of commitment or some other things we're looking for, this was my original post looking for group members: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1027594/seasone... Warning: long posts there, mostly from me. =) tl;dr: Looking for a veteran GM who wants to create a large world with players who are extremely focused on story even to the detriment of their own characters. Heroic type experience preferred and system is up for debate. Many different time zones are involved in this game, so timing will likely be the biggest restriction. I welcome any questions or comments, either in this forum or to me personally. The other players will keep an eye on here too I'm sure, so we can all answer questions. I look forward to hearing from interested people. =)
Day?
Oh jeez, I forgot to include the day, haha. Saturdays.
Hi Outlaw, I am a GM/DM who is looking for players with this type of playing preference/style. I've DM'd a wide assortment of games from as far back as '80 and I truly enjoy long campaigns. My choice would be D&D Next for the gaming system (There is a free PDF put out by WotC that has the basic rules and character creation) and either Forgotten Realms or my home world of Synn as the gaming world. I do require in depth character backgrounds which I do not see as a problem after reading the above text and I enjoy RP'ing a lot as well as combat. I consider the PCs to be the heroes/anti-heores of the story so you will all have the flaw "Why does the crap always happen to us." =D As far as the Kingmaker style, I have in place game mechanics to allow the PCs to "grow" however they wish above and beyond the standard "Leveling up". These mechanics, however, are not set in stone and are very flexible. In short, my mission is to provide players with an immersive gaming experience that is more of an alternate life than just some scribblings on paper. My playtimes are limited, I see your start time would be 5pm(1700) my time. Mondays and Saturdays would be my availability. We can always discuss other start time options. Feel free to contact here or at carlmaxbobojr@yahoo.com, Facebook is Karl Von Bobosky. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Carl Bobo
I forgot to post a reply here to acknowledge I received your post! Thanks for the post Carl. You already know we've been conversing via PM, but I forget people might assume I lost interest or something if I don't post a response here, haha.
Hey Calaway, thank you for your post. Carl did post first, though he hasn't really been in communication with me much since then. Maybe I'm just being hypersensitive to time because the internet has spoiled me with instantaneous gratification. ;-P Either way, I'm still looking for candidates who are a good fit for our group. I'll contact you shortly. I'll post in this forum when we're done looking for candidates. Until then, if anyone else is interested, please feel free to leave a message here in the forum or PM me. Thanks. =)
Alright folks, a decision has been made and I appreciate the messages people have sent me. If ever we have another opening, either for GM or player, I'll make a new post. Thanks everyone!
