[LFP] [PAID] [5E] DM for Waterdeep Dragon Heist Saturdays 2-5pm EDT

Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. I am a DM looking for five players for Waterdeep: Dragon Heist , Saturdays from 2-5pm EDT (6-9pmUTC) beginning on September 4th. Check out the LFG listing here About Me: I am Otters and Oubliettes.  I have over ten years of DM experience overall, and I spent five of my last eight years on a long-form D&D 3.5 campaign, plus various one-shots, adventures, and modules sprinkled throughout and after. Most of my time has been spent in D&D 3.5, but I also have plenty of experience with D&D 5e and Pathfinder, and I've dabbled in a half-dozen other TTRPG systems. I have worked with both newcomers and veterans, and have helped a good many new players figure out and become comfortable with the rules. I emphasize the group-storytelling aspect of tabletop: I want to be here to help the party tell their story, and look good while they do it.  My style generally leans more towards encouraging RP and dialogue.  My descriptions and language will fall in the PG/PG-13 range -- there won't be any gruesome details of heinous acts in my box text, intentionally hurtful or inflammatory dialogue, explicit sexual content, or anything of those sorts. The Campaign: This will be a campaign that generally follows the main story beats of the Waterdeep: Dragon Heist adventure module, which I have run before. There will be expansions, additions, and improvisations to exactly how it goes, to better suit group interests.  Many of these changes will be inspired by (or borrowed whole cloth from) the Alexandrian Dragon Heist Remix.  Dragon Heist is intended for levels 1-5, but Alexandrian additions and my own preferences will likely see it ending with the PCs at level 8 or 10. So what is Waterdeep: Dragon Heist?  From the official roll20 blurb for the book: WELCOME TO WATERDEEP! A fantastic treasure trove is yours for the taking in this adventure for the world's greatest roleplaying game. Famed explorer Volothamp Geddarm needs you to complete a simple quest. Thus begins a mad romp through the wards of Waterdeep as you uncover a villainous plot involving some of the city’s most influential figures. A grand urban caper awaits you. Pit your skill and bravado against villains the likes of which you’ve never faced before, and let the dragon hunt begin! Dragon Heist is a book about a group of lower-level PCs carving a niche of Waterdeep for themselves and hunting a macguffin that leads to Big Treasure.  It begins by immersing the players in life in Waterdeep for adventurers, before ramping up into more serious matters.  As it is a city campaign that takes place entirely within Waterdeep, expect an urban setting -- shops for just about everything, most combat encounters will be indoors, various laws to obey (or break), guilds and factions both friend and foe. The Alexandrian Remix brings the Heist part of the title to greater focus.  Expect investigations, following clues, interacting with a web of competing villain factions.  Schedule: We will meet once per week, Saturday from 2-5PM EDT (6-9UTC). Sessions will be three hours long, with a five-minute-or-so break in the middle of each. I expect this will last for 6 months to a year. We will begin with a free “session zero” to get acquainted with one another, discuss character and story ideas, and otherwise prepare for the campaign.  Tentative first session time is set for September 4th, but our official start will depend on interest and availability. Rules and Expectations: We will be using Discord for voice communication. Video will NOT be expected of the players. Be decent. This campaign will be LGBTQ+ friendly. There will be zero tolerance for sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and other forms of bigotry. Players of any level of experience are welcome. Whether you've been playing since AD&D or this is your first foray into tabletop, you are welcome to join this campaign. Just be ready and able to invest yourself and try. I will accommodate for newer or less-experienced players, to help get them caught up. No homebrew content will be allowed for character creation. All official WotC content will be allowed. This includes Unearthed Arcana content, with the caveat: all UA content must be checked with the DM ahead of time. Engage. Tell me, or the group, what you as a player and as a character want out of this campaign and world. Help us all, as a group, to tell a meaningful story.  I'll be checking in with each of you mostly-weekly to make sure we're all happy, and getting what we want and need. Regular attendance will be expected. I respect that sometimes life happens, especially in the current ongoing global pandemic situation.  Sometimes sessions will be missed. This is okay. However, this is a paid group activity wherein your presence or absence will affect the dynamic, so I ask that you do your best to attend every session, and let us know as far in advance of any absence as you can. If you have paid for a session that you miss, your payment can either be applied to the next session you attend or refunded to you, your choice. Application: If you are interested, please fill out the following via roll20 private message (or as a reply in this thread).  If I don't get back to you within a day or so of your application, please assume that the site is being wonky about PMs and try again.
