My name is Jerrod, I go by many names; Lore Keeper, Dungeon Master, Mara, or simply the last NPC you met today. Please feel free to contact me in regards to any questions you may have. Marathustra#5377 I have been running TTRPG's and Dungeons and Dragons for 20+ years. Instead of asking players to bring snacks, drinks, and party favors; I now ask that players pay a small fee to play. By asking for less than $5 per hour of play I am able to run games online which consume most of my waking hours, which means it is my job to entertain and create a fun setting for you to game. I have a degree in Philosophy, Religion, and Myth. I lean heavily into problematic choices and the illusion of good and evil. Player choice matters in my games, everything is presented in ways that player choices unfold the story from the setting. We play in a grim dark setting, where I encourage players to have two characters created, not because I intend to kill you, but because the setting is meant to be dangerous. Choices and dice rolls... should have consequences; by challenging game play, victories are epic. My goal is to present an interesting setting where players can choose what they want to do moment to moment, playing the role of their character in a problematic world. Sessions will tend to include combat, some will largely be combat. Nearly every moment of game time should have us all playing the roles we are in. Exploration is variable which can be the focus of sessions, just as often as it doesn't play a part in sessions. A little on my style and the games I run. I really like to 'start' with modules. And let things move forward from there at the design of the party. What this means, is that there is always a need to customize things, but I lean into this. Player choices change the campaign. In the beginning this means, the campaign is often simply large plot points from the module. The party plans, movements and goals change how the module will work. The party decisions with minor NPC's determines plenty of plot points. In the end, what it comes down to is that I use the modules for a lattice and we fill in the finer details of the adventure as the full group writing a story together, rather than me writing an elaborate book for publication. Dice Never Lie current campaigns: This game will require payment to the Dice Never Lie at a rate of $20 per session paid via Cryptocurrency, Paypal, or Venmo; this payment should be completed prior to the game session. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements. Much of my professional career has included working for tips. If you find value in my games, please feel free to Tip a higher amount. At $20 for 3-5 hours, my sessions are a great deal in entertainment and fun for $4-7 per hour. Sages and Slayers https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/8862125/tomb-of-annihilation-sages-and-slayers On Sundays, we run 3-7pm EDT. Starting fresh in Chult, these adventurers will be searching after the lost temple of the nine gods in the city of Omu. In their search, they hope to end a Death Curse which has fallen on the world of Toril slowly consuming anyone who has died and been resurrected in the past. Twin Star Marauders https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/details/11409455/into-the-borderlands-twin-star-marauders On Mondays, we will run 6-10pm EDT. Fright Night https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/279140/curse-of-strahd-fright-night On Thursdays, we run 6-10pm EDT. Currently level 2. This is a campaign, where the environment itself is a dangerous enemy. The Rime of Auril, an aurora, is a permanent night that has plunged the Ten Towns of Icewind Dale into years of horrific night. Payment for Each Session Why Pay to Play you may ask? High Quality Gaming. Knowing that players have a vested interest in their character and the campaign makes a world of difference. While we play a war game, there is a lot more to dnd that is not the hack and slash. This is an intriguing war game that requires everyone to put forth effort. With vested players, groups are far more likely to stick together, the longer we game together, the more tight knit our groups become, and quickly we find ourselves friends vested in making the time to meet and have fun gaming each week. These qualities keep both players, and DM's from ghosting campaigns. Small payments, amounting to $4-7 per hour, allow me to live a rather austere life dedicated to my players gaming experience. I don't make a lot of money, but if I can turn this into a viable work solution, I can continue to run games. If I cannot, I will have to return to the working world where I was really only running in person games. The simple fact, is that a quality experience takes 2-4 hours per in session hour of play. I put in a lot of time to ask what amounts to very little as a weekly entertainment, hobby, and adventure. Social Contract All of the campaigns and adventuring groups are designed around open-minded welcoming groups. I encourage Role Play which includes acting in character, making decisions from within the mind set of the character, narrating character actions, and speaking in character. I usually am speaking in different voices. Voices are not the have all end all of role play. I make a fool of myself on a regular basis... Just part of the FUN!!! I prefer to discuss what you are looking for, ways to present your ideal story, and ways to avoid soft and hard boundaries in a sort of Session 0 with every player. I try to be interactive in designing around player desires, phobias, fears, and in general avoiding things someone might not want to experience in game. This is specially meaningful in games that are often designed around creating tension through the environment. Please take the time to fill out this information form I, and I alone, use to take notes on players so I can cater to your game style. https://forms.gle/nMqMaxEpfChYW8Ze9
