This is just an interest check. I just want to see if the concept flies. Please comment in any way you see fit below. System? Probably D&D 5e, but maybe Pathfinder I or II. Curse
of the Black Land Long, long ago there was a land flourishing
with more life and beauty than anywhere in the world. The vast river Aur
brought fertility to the valley named for its black soil. This place was named
Kemet; the Black Land. The People of the Black Land grew in
number as their Gods blessed empire spread throughout and ruled with wisdom,
peace and plenty. For innumerable generations the Gods were praised and
bestowed with gifts of glory in kind for receiving bountiful harvests, love,
knowledge and the lives the people had. Their temples and monuments were meant
to last forever. Nothing lasts forever. The line of pharaohs, descended from
Ra, passed the obligations of the throne from generation to generation. Passed
down was the need to safeguard the will, worship and sacred places of the Gods’
along with providing wellbeing to the people of Kemet. What came from the rule of the last
pharaoh has been lost but the rumors and legends seem to be true. The son of
Amenhotep III, Akhenaten, rose to power over all his older brothers by fate as
it was decreed so. During his reign he wrote into law the worship of the one
true deity, Aten, and the wrath of the Gods’ laid low the pharaoh and his
country. After his death he rose up, a
creature not living and not dead, cursed in a mummy’s trappings seeking
vengeance from well over a thousand years ago as the truth of those events
faded into ancient history leaving the people without a true ruler and without
hope. The Curse of Akhenaten The calamity which struck confuses
even today’s scholars who can only trace the whispers of truth from myth and
legends. None know now how to rid the land of all the curses which doom those
born in Kemet, and those dragged to it from other realms. The small dimension is walled off forever
by deserve and an invisible wall of fire. The bitter winds bring disease and
suffering to any who live within. The natives aren’t the only one endangered by
this curse for a strange magic has many a time whisked away the wanderers from other
worlds. Wandering on paths in other lands or even other worlds forested and plenty
left behind to a vast desert has been commonplace through Kemet’s centuries. Will you take up the Call? Not that you will have much of a choice
as you are taken from the home you knew to the land of Kemet. The place you
left behind never offered you as much danger for so little reward.
In Kemet you will find your destiny,
uncover a prophecy and rid this small world of a terrible curse… or you shall
become another of the lost souls trapped here until the end of time.
