First Session Tomorrow = Meet & Greet and Character Creation

Greetings! Tomorrow is Gorefest Dungeon's first official session, but until today—less than eighteen hours from game time—we've not had enough interest to play. Now, we have some good interest, but mostly from players newer to GURPS and players without the GURPS Basic Set or GURPS Magic , let alone any Dungeon Fantasy supplements. Instead of an actual delve down into Gorefest Dungeon tomorrow, we'll need to spend time making characters and learning the basics of GURPS. The amount of time required for character generation in GURPS is a turn-off to some. It's not a small task. However, with an experienced GM acting like an orchestra conductor, it can be pretty quick and painless. I'd say it will take a full hour to make everyone's characters at once, then over the next hour we'll talk a bit more about GURPS and how the system functions as well as running through some example combats. Of course, during that time, we'll also get to know a bit about each other. So, I'd say the first two hours of our first session will include chatting, creating characters, and discussing GURPS. Come prepared for a bit of work, but it's my hope we still have a good time. In whatever time we have left, we'll run through a very short, simple, "indroducarty" dungeon. I'm going to hang out in the campaign room pretty well all day. Stop by and say hello if you'd like!
Looking forward to talking with everyone tonight! Our veteran player, with whom I've played GURPS DF for more than a year now, PM'ed me on the SJ Games forums and said he wouldn't be able to make it tonight. No biggie as tonight is mainly going to be a primer for sessions to come. See you all in about 5 hours or so!
