Actual planned date is 22nd not 20th September!!! The newly established settlement of Korthos on the southern coast of the Harrowmere has sent an urgent call for heroes willing to help root out the nefarious Devourer Cult and its sahuagin overlords.  In recent weeks, a strange winter has fallen over the normally warm village. Could this be tied to the rise of the Devourer Cult? Or is there something more dangerous lurking in this unassuming hamlet? Continuation Party of brave adventurers that responded to the call for help from the chief of Korthos village is on the track of Devourer Cult. They discovered that the crypt of the family ruling over the village is being robbed from the bodies of the predecessors to then bring them to Sahuagin. Does it have anything to do with the Cult? The guard of the crypt? Or maybe even the white dragon? What is acctually happening in there? Whole situation is very unclear and strict investigation has to be done to say anything. All the party can do right now is to push forward with high hopes in their abilities and faith in the cooperation of the villagers which is required to crack the case of the Cult and the sudden winter that struck the Harrowmere. Recommended for adventures level 2-4 Please include your characters Passive Perception and bonus to Survival and if they are proficient in Survival or not! DM Note :  I've designed a dozen unique magic items and at least one unique artificer spell for this one. They won't all be gained in a single session, of course, but this initial quest is the gateway to a series with further rewards. Cult in Korthos part V:  The Edgelords versus the Cultists as told by Jereboam   I’m a simple soldier, so I’m sorry if the story I tell isn’t as pretty or fancy as the way some others might tell it. After retiring from soldiering I struck out on my own. Better to be the idiot in charge, rather than the idiot following the idiot in charge, I figured.  I ended up in Korthos where the word was they were having some problems with cultists.  I asked around and was directed to a tavern where a group of like minded individuals were also going to make a foray vs the evil under town. I don’t mind saying that when I walked in I thought I’d come to the wrong place.  I know taverns are supposed to be dark but it looked like there were actual pools of darkness sitting at the table.  As I approached it felt like every blessed one of them had some personal tragic tale, or battle scars from some pit of doom or maybe just thought they were too dark and edgy for this world.  The lords of darkness, as I thought of them numbered four; Astra Willowvale, Sylander, Uriel and Mivis.  Fortunately they were also accompanied by a more normal looking dragonborn called Elotaurus and a gnome called Bimble who was every bit like the self-important, deluded army captains I’d dealt with so much in my previous career.  They’d all been battling the cult for some time so we got straight down to business returning to some tunnels under the town.   Now I’m not the brightest feller and for a fact I can’t see in the dark, which was unfortunate because the Lords of Darkness all could so there was scant torchlight to be had, and half the time I was literally in the dark. We surprised some cultists and then ran into a second bunch who kept confounding us with poison clouds and shattering explosions.  I was right in the thick of it and my health was up and down more often than a pair of ladies’ drawers in an officer’s brothel.   Sylander was right alongside me for a bit of the fighting and he had my back on more than one occasions, throwing a helpful healing spell my way whenever I started to fade. While we overthrew the first bunch of cultists, the battle didn’t go well for poor Mivis, who was erased from existence by a bolt of wicked power thrown by a cult priestess.  RIP Mivis, he was simply too dark and pretty for this world, or so his nasal voice whispered as he faded to ash.  Fortunately he was replaced by some sort of druid who promptly transformed into a bear and absolutely wrecked the next bunch of cultists we encountered.  That’s about all I have to tell.  There was other stuff going on like collecting some glowing objects that are meant to be important but it was all a bit over my head.  I just did what I was told to and stood in front of things so they couldn’t hit other people.   I was well looked after, but.  They gave me a really big mace and also a magic sword so all in all I’m pretty happy with where I’ve ended up and I’ll definitely stick around to see this through to its conclusion.
23rd Marpenoth - Uriel's Journal These Sahuagin continue to prove troublesome and whilst we were joined by reinforcements from Hope, the creature’s magic proved too much for some. Initially, we came across several cultist’s who had escaped us the day before. Astra and I managed to ambush a group but not before that damn spellcaster hand a chance to flood the room with another stinking cloud. Several of our new recruits including Mivis and Jereboam charged through the cloud in pursuit. Sadly, upon reaching the other side they were confronted by a group of cultists and another Sahuagin priestess conducting a reanimation ritual. Joined by the spellcaster from before, our opponents posed a deadly threat. Poor Mivis was turned to slurry by the Priestess and Jereboam was paralysed by the spellcaster. Trapped behind the stinking cloud there was nothing I could do for Mivis, but upon charging through I was able to stop a timeline where Jereboam was forcefully composted by a deranged cultist. After a drawn-out battle, we prevailed. I was lucky to recover the caster’s spellbook and we also found a second temple icon. Clearly, these seals are intended to prevent entry to the cult’s inner sanctum. After a chance to rest we fought our way into a third ritual chamber, killing another shark priest and yet more undead. We were joined by a druid, another reinforcement from Hope, I have to say when he waded into the fray in his bear form I was truly grateful. We finally have what we need to access the cult’s inner ritual chamber, lets hope we have everything we need to survive it…
Cult in Korthos part V:  The Edgelords versus the Cultists as told by Mivis Priest:    ( Finishes casting speak with dead) "What happened here?" Mivis: "I thought I had the black lung, but it was just a noxious vapour conjured by a cultist" "What happened next?" Mivis: "I cast an illusion, but everyone just ignored it and ran through the cloud anyway" "What happened after that?" Mivis: "I thought that it was dumb no one used my illusion to distract the cultists and get them to waste their spells like I intended, but I didn't want the other Goths to steal the show, so I ran through the smoke onto the runway to strut my stuff alongside them, giving the blue steel look as I emerged." "And then what?" Mivis: "There was a really loud noise and my ears and nose started to bleed and my head rang, even though I hadn't snorted anything yet" "And how did it end?" Mivis: "There was a really bright light and then pain, alot of pain, and then the show was over."
