Token Movement and Waypoints

I know this has been discussed, I did a search and found some old closed threads. Just wondering if there is any work being done on upgrading the way token movement is done.  Specifically waypoints and also the token's starting point. The reason I bring this up is because I was just looking at a new Kickstarter VTT, Beyond Tabletop.  They are trying for something even simplier than Roll20, just a whiteboard type screen for drawing your maps by hand and moving tokens. Anyways, the way they did token movement was nice an simple.once you start moving your token the starting square is highlighted and it shows how much movement you have done in game turns.  If they just add being able to hit the spacebar at any point to signify a waypoint and then continue moving the token it would be awesome.  Nice and simple and exactly what I think a lot of us would love to have! Since I'm not a supporter yet I have no idea whats being worked on.  Would love to see a list of things.

This should be implemented in a way that no grid is needed. So the highlighting would have to be about the starting point (eg drawing a "ghost" token) not the starting square or there could just be two different ways to handle it. One way to handle it when there is a grid and another when there isn't.
This is something I'd like as well and is on the list of things to look into ... so many features and so little time :)

Oh, this would be perfect! +1
+1!
I've seen this implemented in other VTTs, and agree it would a very useful feature.
Would be perfect +1
+1 I just have my players free hand or polyline draw it on the game map right now, but it would be way easier to just do as you are suggesting with the space bar click to mark a way point.   But what would you suggest to clear the players waypoint marks, so that the map is not just filled with everyones movements?
I really like how this works in Maptools and i hope the devs add this feature to our beloved Roll20!

As soon as they release their token it clears.  Although it would be cool to have on mouse over or on select then the last movement trail is shown for that token.  That would be ultimate I think!  No clutter and you can see where the token came from and the path.
I'd also like for it to measure while I move.

So as you drag your token it leaves a trail of lightened squares in a straight line from the start to your token.  If you press the space bar while dragging your token it welds a way point down to the map and now the lightened square path goes from here to your token.  While you are dragging your token it totals up the distance for you in the first square that you started at?  When you drop your token it then clears the movement trail.  If you mouse over your token it shows the movement trail so you can see where you came from.  If you press ctrl Z it of course puts you back to where you were. Sound like a half deccent description?  I'll make a mockup of it in Photoshop and post it here leter tonight.
