Like one user in the thread, using incognito mode seems to mitigate the issue, though this is hardly optimal. So if anyone has a more permanent fix, I'm all ears. I tried deleting a lot of journal entries and some maps due to the official response in the thread. This did not help and also seems counterintuitive: why would incognito mode mitigate the issue if the issue is too many journal entries and maps? Disclaimer: it might not be worth the hassle to help me or address the issue as I will be moving to a competitor once we have finished our current game. Experiencing game-crippling issues only to find out they've been around for a year is certainly one of the primary reasons behind this decision. Another is the fact that the client is still occassionaly laggy under various circumstances on even fairly decent laptops, unlike the competition.
