Handout formatting issues

I've had this consistantly so I'm worried it is me that is doing something wrong. So I copy/paste text into the Description & Notes section of a handout.  I then highlight some of the text I want to format to say Heading2.  I click the Style button select Heading 2 and then the edit set the first paragraph to Heading 2 style, not the text I had highlighted. Is this a known bug? Is there a way around this issue, as it a real pain when I'm editing a large number of handouts.

I recommend doing all your formatting & editing in an external system and pasting fully formatted text into your handouts. I use Markdown for this purpose, but Google Docs or MS Word should work too.

The text editor can be quirky. If you are looking for ultimate stylability, check out Stephen S's Markdown Script .
