About the Adventure Experience the whimsy and wonder of the Feywild in this new adventure from Wizards of the Coast! The
Witchlight Carnival is coming to town; a merry fairground extravaganza
that hops across the Material Plane, gracing the World of the Forgotten
Realms only once every 8 years for a 3-month tour of rides, games and
enchanting performances. Your party is made up of a group of
people who have dim memories of having been to this Carnival, long ago.
It was truly a spectacular place, but behind the colorful tents and
quirky costumed carnies, you remember there being something ... off...
about the whole experience. Now that the Carnival is coming back, you have decided to go pay it a visit, once again. Character Creation This adventure begins with all Characters at Level 1, and should go on until Level 8 (or lower). Use either 4d6 Drop Lowest or Point-Buy to determine your Ability Scores. Content
from all Official Wizards of the Coast Books is allowed, Unearthed
Arcana and Homebrew have to be approved by me first, but I tend to allow
anything that isn't too "out there" so don't worry. Lost Things and Old Jobs There
are two ways for your Character to have been to the Witchlight
Carnival; either they once worked there as a Witcchlight Hand
(represented with the appropriate Background, introduced with this book)
and left the carnival grounds, unable to get back to work in time, or
they snuck in when they were younger, without a ticket, and lost
something of great value once there. These Lost Things need not
be material objects; the Fey Folk can come to possess all sorts of
abstract things, such as one's ability to Rhyme on Purpose, or even the
knowledge of their own name. No matter how you came to be there,
once the Carnival was gone, your memories of that place grew fainter and
fainter... until the weeks leading up to its return. Now you are drawn there, either to recover your Lost Thing, or to try and pick up the pieces of your old life at the Carnival. Close Encounters of the Fey Kind The premise of this adventure puts a few limits on your Character's knowledge and experience with the Feywild. If
your Character is from a Fey Race, or has the Feylost Background
(introduced with this book) they have only spent a minimal amount of
time in the Plane of Faerie. If your Character is a Warlock with
the Archfey Patron, they may be eligible to learn some additional
secrets before the game starts. Guile and Whimsy PSA
: The overall tone of this adventure is less violent than other D&D
adventures, so do not worry too much about making a Character that is
incredibly good at killing things! That being said, don't underestimate the Fey because of their fabulous aesthetics and cheerful attitudes... About the GM I
have been GM-ing with 5th Edition D&D for 5 years, and I hope to
run this game in way where it's as fun to play as it was to read, if not
more so. I strive to create an inclusive, friendly atmosphere
around the virtual table, one where people feel comfortable roleplaying,
asking questions, trying out zany schemes that may or may not result in
horrible consequences, you name it. I use the rules, the dice
and the content of the adventure book as more of a guideline for how to
run the game rather than something to follow to the letter. I find this
allows for more immersive gaming, and it also helps accommodate my
general approach to GM'ing; the game is an exercise in collaborative
storytelling more than a contest between the Players and the GM, and the
GM is there to provide the world and manage the players' interactions
with it. Whenever I play through an adventure as a GM, I always
tend to create custom content such as side-quests, NPC's and so on
tailored to your PC's, their backstories and their goals to further
flesh out the adventure and make it unique to the Characters you create. Game Info The Game will be run using Roll20 and Discord exclusively. When you get added, I'll give you all the necessary links. Payments
