Player Name & Pronouns: Ben (He/him) Age: 34 Optional Discord name and number: kwazykid#9441 Character Name: Coraris "Cori" Umberleaf Race: Elf - Eladrin (MToF) Class/subclass: Shadow Magic Sorcerer (2) Hexblade Warlock (1) - (interested in multiclassing if DM allows) Feat: Warcaster (PHB) Background: Haunted One (CoS) Personality: I don’t talk about the thing that torments me. I’d rather not burden others with my curse. I refuse to become a victim, and I will not allow others to be victimized. Ideals: I’ll stop the spirits that haunt me or die trying. Bonds: There’s evil in me, I can feel it. It must never be set free. Flaws: I talk to spirits that no one else can see. Backstory: Cori is an Eladrin Elf who spent his childhood near a pathway between the Feywild and the Material Plane. It felt normal to be able to easily cross from one realm to the other and back again. But learning the difference between the planes, the different forces that governed each, was sometimes a challenge for him. His parents, Cezaran and Lilikoi, had told him from a young age that he has magic in him, shadow magic that is drawn from the fey forests. At the age of 60, Cori began learning to control the magic within him. When he was nearing adulthood, there was to be a ceremony to honor him. The Eladrin of his tribe were gathering to celebrate when something happened. There was an attack by dark forces from Shadowfell, the tribe was being invaded by something that Cori had never seen before. Family and tribe members were being struck down around him. His mother told him to run so he made a break for the pathway between the realms. The pathway was usually a calm walk through a tunnel of leaves and branches, but on this crossing the ground was separating, the trees were shaking and there were cracks in reality itself through which he could see darkness shimmering with glitter, his first look at the space between the planes. Cori’s next memory was awakening in the material plane, the pathway destroyed and all that was left was an archway of branches, twisted out of any natural shape into an undulating pattern as if there were remnants of runes. "I was wondering when you would wake up" a voice echoed through his head. "It seems I am stuck here with you for the time being." It was the voice of Kyranis, a fallen Archfey from the Shadowfell. With its silver tongue it began to tell Cori how they both were in the pathway between planes when it collapsed and if a pact had not been made, they both would have perished. Somehow the pact had unintentionally trapped Kyranis inside Cori’s mind. Now that both of them are trapped on the material plane, Kyranis’ goal is to find a way out of Cori’s mind, and return to corporeal form. With the pact, comes powers that are granted to Cori, magic that is meant to both aid in the freeing of Kyranis, and to set a plan into motion to bring darkness to this plane of existence. Cori is torn, desiring the power, but not wanting to use it to bring harm to any of the good inhabitants of either the material plane or the feywild. He struggles to keep his free spirit and jovial attitude towards life, but he must hide the pain to keep those around him from experiencing the horrors that he has seen. While Cori’s outward attitude may mask the troubled soul he carries, his appearance sometimes betrays him. Much of his life he exhibited Summer characteristics with deep greens and browns accenting his features, he now has a rich Autumn aura. The tips of his hair, his fingers, and the leaflike coverings he wears seem to have tips of blue or white as he struggles not to let Winter take him over. Why are you excited to play this character: I love playing a character that has secrets but wants to protect those he calls friends and family from the horrors that he has faced. But having the story slowly come out over time. I am drawn to the fantastical nature of the fey and want to incorporate that into the way I play, even if we do not travel to the Feywild. Describe your availability on Sundays, and any scheduling issues I should be aware of: I am free nearly every Sunday evening. I have some requirements for my job that I am expected to be present for on Sunday Afternoons and most likely would not interfere with the start time of 5pm PST that you have listed. The dates of those conflicts are as follows: November 14th until around 6pm central November 21st until around 6pm central February 6th until around 6pm central February 14th until around 6pm central April 10th until around 6pm central April 17th until around 6pm central Anything else you think I should know about you: I like playing support. I am a very laid back person and let a lot roll off of me. I like puns and sometimes make bad, groan worthy jokes. Comments/questions you have for me: With the backstory I have created, I wanted to make it more difficult for me to min/max. In a perfect world I would go with 2 levels of warlock and sorcerer from then on, but I would much rather play a character with flaws that isn't optimized. I feel that it makes for a much more fulfilling story. With that, I wanted to ask if the DM would like to control which class I would level up each time a milestone is reached. I don't want to put more work on the DM but I want to have the class determined by the plot of the story, e.g. my patron persuades me to continue to follow his path so the DM determines my next level would be in Warlock. Or I reject an advance from my patron so the DM decides I level in sorcerer. All of that being said, if this is a build that does not fit into your world as a multiclass character, then I am perfectly happy to take out the sorcerer element altogether and just go with a straight Warlock. I think it would be really cool to work in a patron that is working with the “dark forces” in your story. But I don’t want to take up too much spotlight. I’m here for fun as a group. Player Name & Pronouns: Susie (She/her) Age: 34 Optional Discord name and number: N/A Character Name: Bridie Watercrest Race: Tiefling Class/subclass: Cleric Trickery Domain (3) Feat: Shadow Touched (TCoE) Background: Anthropologist (ToA) Personality: I'm driven by a wanderlust that has led me away from home Whenever I come to a new place I am interested in any local stories and gossip. Ideals: Independence. I am a free spirit, no one tells me what to do Bonds: Everything I do is in search of true love. Flaws: I have trouble keeping my true feelings hidden. My sharp tongue lands me in trouble. Backstory: Bridie Watercrest is a purple tiefling who grew up in a carnival. Her father, a human, is an accomplished pastry chef. And her mother, a tiefling, is an entertainer for the carnival. Bridie's life has always been filled with travel, seeing new places and meeting new people of many different races. But all of it has been through the lens of carnival goers. Bridie's father, Arthur Watercrest, has taught her how to bake, but she found it easier to sell the goods at the stand, calling out to anyone that passed by as any good salesperson would. Bridie has triplet younger siblings, 2 brothers and a sister. Strudel, Streusel, and Madeleine. Her mother, Loralai, is an entertainer and performs nearly every night at the carnival. Bridie also has a pet fruit bat named Bellini that goes everywhere with her. She has a thirst for adventure and is always excited to explore the new places they visit. She also is interested in anthropology, learning as much as she can about the different races she encounters. This thirst is one of the reasons that she decided to leave the carnival. Her siblings are old enough to help out at the pastry stand, and while carnival life is exciting, she has no personal space. Her siblings are always around so she is never alone and able to be an individual, plus there is so much more of the world to explore! Bridie is a hopeless romantic, and has a wonderful example of how love should look from her parents. Included in her wanderlust is the search for true love. Her dedication to this ideal was noticed by a goddess in one of the temples she visited in an area that the carnival had stopped along its route. Recognizing this steadfast creed in Bridie, the goddess promised to protect her as long as she continued her quest for adventure, knowledge, and love. Why are you excited to play this character: I’m looking forward to playing a character who is finding her way in the world. I enjoy playing characters who are caring and creative. I want to help heal people but don’t want to be thought of as the party bandaid. I enjoy roleplay, puzzles and npc interaction. I also enjoy good combat that is within the story, but not combat just for combat's sake. Comments/questions you have for me: My pet bat is purely for aesthetic and roleplay. It will not be used in combat or for gaining any kind of advantage.
