Hello

Hello, everyone I'm the new player, my name is Cody or GMC whatever you prefer I'm still debating on the type of character to play, could someone give me a bit of a rundown of the recent goings on in the campaign and who the characters are?
Ok, let me explain. No, to much has happened, let me sum up: A strange comet flew by, and most of the top villains and heroes on Earth disappeared while it went by.  The best hero team left in the NYC area is the Brooklyn Brigade, who were until recently heavily corp-subsidized. When the Eradicator (basically evil Superman clone) arrived there was no one in his power tier to stop him. He was arrogant and let the Brigade plan. A few pieces of Kryptonite later, and he was done but Lexcorp tricked the team by posing as the Stronghold/Strykers Island team sent to collect him.  Since the event was televised, much ado about the Brigade happens. Given overall power levels, we start looking at low level crimes, only to cross the Saeda crime family (which includes street-level supers and psikers) and the Bratva/Russian mob. We have successfully offended both. We've had to hire private eyes to track them, because we're known. Meanwhile, vampires happen, and it seems that the Brigade is now stuck between Camarilla and Sabbat factions for NYC. We have a deal of sorts with the Camarilla. Sabbat on the other hand are being pains in the neck. At least 2 members of the Brigade are now out long term due to legal actions because full power repulsors are mildly excessive on Mob Dons who aren't actually committing a crime  at the time. Or wearing armor.  The rest of the Brigade consists of Kismet, emo psyker detective and general weirdness magnet (my character) who is the team medic and communications specialist via a Mind Link power, Paladin, who's claim to fame is the ability to autofire punch just about anything into goo, and Lady Paper, who, as you can tell by her name, is able to warp reality with a thought - I mean, control paper and make it do things it normally can't or shouldn't. There have been a handful of other part-timers. We have a super-secret base that nobody except ourselves, villains and lawyers can find. In short, it's a public base and a running gag. So, the Brooklyn Brigade recently became its own company in an attempt to prevent Lex Luthor from buying them out via their corporate sponsors. We've pissed off most of the organized crime in NYC, provided Lexcorp with Kryptonite and a Kryptonian, ran into underground monsters that wanna take over the surface, and we're struggling with missing persons cases and an ongoing set of investigations into those angry organized crime groups. Not to bias your character design, but we lost our tech guy with the repulsor suit (Crusader) and one other player, I believe it was the big Russian tank (Bear). I could be misremembering though. And in case I am misremembering, please, anyone else, jump in from here.
So is this set in an amalgam universe? cause from everything I read it sounds like it
Pretty much. The GM borrows from just about every category and genre. It's interesting that major superheroes and villains were vanished, and yet other powerhouses like the Antediluvians of Vampire are apparently just fine. Dr. Doom is still running Latvia, although it could just be Doombots running on one of Doom's own contingency plans.  We've met Lex Luthor and Mercy Graves, as well as Mary Jane Watson. And yet even the Great Lakes Avengers are gone, as are other 'joke' teams. But the Mystery Men are still active. As is the Brooklyn Brigade. A brief query about the Sanctom Sanctorum and Dr. Strange went on a tangent, with Start Tower, the Baxter Building and the Avengers Mansion all more or less intact - but only their normal non-superhero staff are present. The reason crime hasn't gone nuts is that pretty much all the supervillains are also gone. "Meanwhile, at the Legion of Dooooooom!" (cuts to a janitor pushing a broom along....)
"Thank you, thank you" making a sweeping bow toward the adoring crowd. "It is true. I steal shamelessly!"
