Hey guys I was wondering if anyone would be down to run this quest on the 24th of November? Let me know and I will update this post. The Flayed Man 2+ After  Rofir  returned from his visit to Strade's Gallows with the flayed remains of a dead man, his wife Millivent recognized this as the skin of her beloved husband. The man and their three children were kidnapped by goblin marauders less than a week ago, and while it appears her husband met a grisly end at the hands of bullywugs, she has implored adventurers to go out and rescue her missing children. Moved by her plight,  Sir Quincy Penfold  is offering a reward of 750 gold pieces to the group that can track down the goblins, infiltrate their lair, and bring out the missing family. Hey mate, slot is available, but I’ve recently had my travel plans delayed by two weeks, which would mean this slot wouldn’t start until 3am my time.  I’ve just updated my calendar accordingly.  Latest I could start this would be 11pm GMT (+4) or 7pm GMT.  If that won’t work for you, the slot you want would be available on December 8th or 9th.
That works for me, should I repost the topic with the new time zones ore just leave them here list this: ATTN Time has been changed accordingly: AEDST 4 AM (on the 25th)/PST 10 AM / CST 12 PM/ GMT 6 PM

Ooooh... Reggie remembers finding that! Poor old Rofir seemed very keen to get to the bottom of it but I've not seen him around in a while :( I guess I should probably help with the rescue mission (if one is even possible). Now... what was that about 750GP reward? Name Character Name Level/Race/Class/Subclass  Party role PP/SS Mount Payment Soap Reginald T. Hey sorry guys but I gotta drop this. It’s on Thanksgiving Week and my family won’t like me talking loudly so early in the morning.
In game date set for 8 - 12 Uktar
I would like to bring Qa'arn, my squishy orc warlock.  Im at work though so I'll have to fill in the details when i get home.  I know he has a couple cool cantrips and can coagulate blood to stop bleeding (although Chris nixed that translating into the ability to coagulate blood inside of nonbleeding creatures.   Booooo). :) No mount, but that seems ok for this venture?
No mount is cool I think.
Ya for sure I know most of us don't seem to have mounts in this party

Drift's Account of the Mission: (sorry if it is too long or full of typos, but I think he got most of it) I knew this was the right move! The elders were wrong to worry. Just being here has already strengthened my bond; I swear when I focus I can feel the tooth hum against my skin! Imagine the progress I could make if I could get some proper training under my belt! One quick visit to the rumor board later and I had a job in hand, and the only thing missing was a party of fellow adventurers. Luck will have it that there are plenty of adventuring types in Hope and before long I stood amidst a group of six others. Having spent months traveling to hope, I have seen many a human and a handful of other races, but nothing compared to the current make-up of our group. First, and the most experienced of the group, was Reginald T. Tealeaf. At one point he even joked about his name being a sort of joke on the word thief. . . or was the joke teabag? I forget, but he was a wonderful little man and with a keen pair of eyes. Next was Thrella, who I will describe as elf-like in every way but seemed to be a bit darker, in both appearance and personality. Regardless her heavily armored form would be welcome company, this I was sure of! Then, staring out of the front gate as if we didn’t exist, was an orc, but don’t be fooled. This orc, named Qa’arn, is a student of the arcane and worship a god of death. Spooky! Once again, glad he was on our side. I’m not ready to face down any god let alone one of death! In stark contrast to the previous two party members we have Cinnamon, the pixie, and once again looks would deceive you. She was a bodyguard! If people will pay someone of her statue to protect them from harm, then she has to be the best dang bodyguard on this entire plane of existence! With the combined front of Thrella and Cinnamon I doubted anything could stop us!. Next was Sigi and Pebbles, a man-and-beast duo of devastating ability! Sigi called himself a Stonehide Trollkin and that was made evident by, well the ummm stones growing out if his hide I guess! Pebble, the trollhound, shared this distinct quality and   was easily twice as vicious! The pair of them could probably even give members of our tribe a run for their money. Finally , perhaps the most unusual of our party, Meth the Walking Crystal!?! Seeming made out of gemstone, Meth proved to be one of, if not the most intelligent of the whole group. In fact due to his make-up he lacked the need to sleep or eat and made his opinion very clear on how weak all carbon-based lifeforms are that require sleep. After all appropriate introductions were made, we began our trek to search for the missing children. I spent my time traveling with the party as a scout and I rode ahead to look for shortcuts or would be ambushes. Luckily no ill intentions were had for us that day and our path towards our destination was free of harm. Reaching the end of daylight we decided to made camp alongside of the road. We all took turns at watch and luckily our night went undisturbed. Our morning on the other hand, was full of action. Apparently overnight teeny tiny beetles were attracted to our food and water and now there were so many of them that if we didn’t do something fast, all of our supply would become depleted. However, with quick thinking, teamwork, and a bit of fairy on beetle intimidation, we managed to save our supply and also by luck discovered goblin tracks! I was ecstatic, everything was working out for us, but as the groups discussion turned to where the goblin tracks lead, I could help but notice the change in tone. Apparently these tracks went right through a mausoleum that was the home to some pretty nasty gargoyle like creatures. Upon arriving, Reggie noticed a statue of a dwarf. After investigating it further, Reggie discovered a secret compartment and pocketed an iron key. Around that same time across the road, someone discovered a gravestone with Sigi’s name written on it. A bit strange seeing as Sigi did not plan on dying any time soon. Seeing enough we tried to sneak across the front yard w hen all of a sudden, two greenish gargoyles sprang from the roof and dived upon us. After seeing how useless the majority of our attacks were on these new foes we made the decision to continue on our way to our real objective, but unfortunately Meth’s newly purchased mule was the cost of our escape.  Following the tracks to the mouth of a cave, we overheard a hooded figure talking to a goblin about slaves and more importantly dragon artifacts! Now we didn’t hear much more of that conversation but as he turned to leave I swear he looked right at the bush we were concealed in, but then he uttered a word and teleported away. During that moment I discovered that my hand had traveled up subconsciously to grasp ahold of my necklace. Why would this man be seeking draconic artifacts? I do not know, but the thought of such items being used by kidnappers and slavers could not be tolerated to become a reality. With determination in our eyes we marched into the narrow confines of the cave and nearly to our deaths as the light from our lanterns lead to the unleashing of several fire bombs. It was at this time when I felt the tooth dangling from around my belt begin to buzz. Clutching it with one hand and placing the other on a wounded Thrella, I was surprised by the sudden shock that ran through my body and into the wounded fighter who suddenly looked to be fairing a bit better. Everything seemed to be making a turn for the better until the next round of bombs and bolts rained down on my companions. Here I will make a quick note that Cinnamon’s services as a bodyguard are well praised. She stepped in and took the blow for both Reggie and Thrella over the course of ten seconds and then shrugged it off as if it never happened shortly after. With the combined efforts of Reggie, Sigi, Pebbles, and Meth we were able to clear out the goblins from the first room. Noticing how spent we appeared, we decided to make camp outside of the cave and rest a b it to recover from our previous battle. In the morning we decided that we should have a plan in place this time to allow smoother travel through the dark cave. Being one of the only two of our party with darkvision, Qa’arn volunteered to scout ahead. A few moments passed without hearing back from our scout when all of a sudden I, and I am pretty sure Reggie, heard a loud sound coming from further along in the cave. Quickly pressing on we found more goblins and two of these large wolf-like creatures. While combat in the corridors proved to be difficult and frustrating to say the least, once we breached the room, we made quick work of the goblins present. Fearing that we may need to rethink our strategy, we decided to return to Hope and maybe return when we can come up with a plan of action. The matter of the missing children is really upsetting, but my mind keeps wandering back to the hooded figure and his desire for draconic artifacts. I don’t even know his name, but I do know that I want nothing more than to prevent him from using the magnificent power of Dragonkind to further his obviously underhanded agenda.  Regardless of the outcome of the mission, I can feel my connection to the talisman growing. Where else could that energy have come from than from within it. I can feel connection with it growing, and while not yet at full strength, the soul awakes to my fury!
Love it!

Thrella’s Journal 17 th Marpenoth I am coming to enjoy outings on the surface. All of the knives are directly in front of you, it makes things very simple. It was just such an adventure from which I have returned. We were employed to recover the family of Millivent, a woman from Strahd’s Gallows from where I have recently visited. I was accompanied by Cinnamon (an admirable and valiant pixie) a Crystal Wizard called Meth and several other males with varying degrees of use listed here for posterity as: Sigi, Qa’rn, Drift and Reginald. Our initial journey was somewhat tedious. Sigi managed to get us lost and after our first night of travel, we were beset by a plague of beetles. The dishevelled looking Qa’arn prayed to his death god which seemed to deter the creatures. Once upon a time, Lolth would have granted me a swarm of guardian spiders to deal with such pests, alas no more. In order to arrive at the Goblin’s hideout, we had to cross through a mausoleum set within a deep geological impression. As we approached the crypt, Reginald managed to recover a key from a dwarf statue and Sigi found an omen of death in the form of his prophetic grave. Some illusion no doubt. No sooner had we made these discoveries than we were beset by two Greenstone Gargoyles. I managed to bring one to its knees, naturally, but the creature refused to die. It was here I learned that Meth, like a certain snivelling brother of mine, could manipulate time. I was nearly cut in two by one of the creatures only to have myself avoid the fatal blow entirely. If the Crystal Kin can share his secrets with me I may get my revenge yet. After the necessary sacrifice of Meth’s donkey, we were able to escape our adversaries and soon found our way to the Goblin’s den. Upon overhearing a murmured discussion between a hooded figure and one of the Goblins we confronted an initial group of adversaries in the entry hall. They are well defended and made advancing through the corridors challenging through the use of blackpowder flintlocks and firebombs. I slew two of the filthy beasts with my crossbow but was nearly killed through a combination of gunfire and flame. The Ranger Drift brought me to my feet, proving that not all Males are completely useless. We chose to rest outside the dungeon to recover from the day's battles. We passed the night successfully and plumbed the depths once more. Unfortunately, the sinister Wizard Qa’arn was caught in one of the Goblin’s traps which initiated yet another melee in these cramped corridors. Through attrition, I was able to force the Goblins and their pet Wargs back into the chamber from which they had emerged. Too late, I slew one Warg only to be brought low by another coward hiding in the corner. My companions were successful however, no doubt Cinnamon led them upon my falling unconscious. Upon clearing the room we opted to return to Hope. Having found the nest we will return rested, ready to pry the filthy wretches from their stinking hole.
Reggie's notes Bleedin’ hell… this hero malarky is rough work! But apart from building up a reputation for these people to trust (and hire) in the future, I guess it’s the “right” thing to do? (I just wish it wasn’t so fuckin’ hazardous to me health! Momma Tealeaf would not approve…) I dunno what’s happened to ol’ Rofir but it seems he did return to town and drop off those remains we found out on the way to Strade’s Gallows. Looks like some poor dude whose missus reckons was out with their three kids! So, there we stood ready to head out and rescue the poor little buggers… a more unlikely group I don’t think I’ve ever seen!   Cinnamon , the pixie, has a bit of a reputation - apparently she’s braver than that bloody lummox Tordak!, Sigi (and his giant dog Pebbles) recently returned from a tomb and they look friendly enough, Drift is a newcomer to town but he seems very confident! Thrella is another new face to me. She also seems confident but I could of sworn she was giving me the ol’ stink eye… talking of stink eyes, Meth seems to view us all with disdain (which is a bit rich for a walking pile of rocks if you ask me..). And then there’s Qa’arn …that dude is just weird…seems to be glaring off into the distance half the time! But… they all showed up to rescue these kids (I’m sure the 750gp reward didn’t factor in at all…) Our first day was pretty uneventful unless you count awkward as all hell conversation around the fire… but some of these folks are pretty green The next day was when things got interesting. We woke up to find beetles swarming all over our gear. As we saved our supplies from them, Qa’arn managed to get some sort of blessing from his god and we found some goblin tracks! Following them, they led almost directly to the ol’ mausoleum that I’ve heard so much about. Creepy fucking place but the others seemed pretty casual about it. We found a dwarf statue and a warning not to disturb it’s bones. There was a little secret compartment with a key inside, so I grabbed that, you never know when it might come in handy… while I was doing my thing though, it seems some sort of gargoyle thing swooped down and attacked!! Some of the keen beans jumped into the fight, unperturbed by the fact their weapons weren’t seeming to do much damage… I’ve heard these things fucked up the last group to visit this place so I made a bolt for it. As I nearly reached safety, I turned and fired off a slingshot and begged them to run! Dunno if it was my shout or the second fucker turning up but they seemed to get the hint and we just about made it clear of the place… Meth ’s new mule wasn’t so lucky however… The tracks led us to a bush and sneaking forward, we could see a couple of goblins talking to some sort of hooded dude. He was after some sort of dragon artefacts by the sound of things but then seemed to finish his business and “poof” he vanished! The goblins had said they were expecting another patrol back shortly so we figured we’d try and sneak in before their numbers increased too much. The cave was pitch black so a few of us sparked up torches or lanterns and crept forward. At about the same time I spotted a little room to the right, something flew out and exploded! There was fire everywhere! As I flung myself into the wall, a loud bang sounded and I damn near passed out from the pain! Luckily the others were quickly on the scene. Cinnamon saving my arse as another ball of flame exploded nearby while Thrella and Drift returned their own fire with arrows and bolts. Sigi also sent Pebbles charging into the room (what a good boi!) and Meth seemed to put one of them to sleep. Qa’arn fired off some sort of ice blast and eventually we had secured the place… but we’d taken a hell of a beating! We decided to sneak back out and try to rest up before trying another sortie in the morning. After a decent sleep, we snuck back in. Mindful of the fact the goblins saw our lights last time, Qa’arn decided to sneak forward in the dark. Although he didn’t seem to say if he’d come back… just as I was wondering if we’d ever see him again, I heard a crash as he (apparently) fell down some stairs. Leaping into action, we rushed to help him (although he didn’t seem too happy to see our light) before we we attacked from a tunnel to the west. Everybody tried to cram their way into the tunnel at the same time and we were a mess of limbs and pushing. Eventually, Thrella managed to fight their way into the room at the end of the tunnel and we piled in after them. A dead warg lay there and another was lurking along with about 5 or 6 goblins… with room to manoeuvre finally, we killed the second warg and a bunch of the goblins before the final two surrendered. We figured we’d take them back to Hope and try and get more intel on the setup here and who the hell that hooded man was… Side note, the team were pretty good all things considered! And I even managed to get me hands on one of those goblin bombs and a funky looking handgonne thing. I’ll have to see if Astra can teach me how to use it (if she ever returns from wherever she went…)

Oh Great Anu, Oh great leader Anu-Akma, I am but your faithful and humble servant.  Today I found a party to venture out with.  I know you are pleased with them too, as you graced me with rations through two members, Meth and Reginald.   I will repay them in kind in your honour oh king.  Meth fascinates me, Anu.  He is made of crystals and I believe he may be a God, but of what, I do not know.  He does not fear death, but does not seem to understand it either. He is possibly a child-God.   He does not need sleep and calls sleeping “death”.  I find comfort in these little “deaths” as I, blessed servant of your Underworld, neither succumb to, nor fear, true death.  Living in fear is a prison and true freedom comes in accepting all stages of being. I trust in your judgement oh faithful master Anu.   We awoke in the night, attacked by beetles.  I thank you, my master, for heeding my request and smiting these creatures. The smoke from our fire you flared up warded off the hungry beasts. I thank you for saving our supplies and showing us the Goblin tracks we seek.   We ventured to one of your homes, a mausoleum that seems to be well known by the citizens of this area.  I found comfort here, surrounded by those you have taken down their next path.  However, I need to watch this Reginald character more.  He was becoming a little too interested in a sacred resting bed. I was ready to deal with him appropriately if he tried to desecrate it, but he found a key and decided to leave it at that.  We tried to leave this house of yours without disturbance, but half of my party is unaware of how not to wake transitioned souls.  Guardians of the graves swooped down upon us. I did not have time to tell them we meant no harm, but I did not kill them.  I froze it and walked away.  Whether the others followed me or not was not my concern.  I am here to fulfill my mission to you above all others, oh Great Decider of Fate.  Take the mule as a willing sacrifice for all your help in this mission.  We found the underground goblin lair we seeked.  There were issues navigating corridors as a team, the bright lanterns others needed were no help.  We must work on stealth and tactics.  Those that rushed ahead almost met you, but you decided this was not their time.  Cinnamon, a tiny pixie of great courage and strength, offered her life for another named Thrella.  For beings who seem to fear death, in the face of meeting you, they do not act in fear.  I was able to cool the fires within, but we found nothing of interest. After resting the night outside of the goblin lair, we tried it again.  I convinced my comrades to let me use my vastly superior vision over their blindingly conspicuous lanterns, but you did not agree with my hubris. For this I ruefully apologize. I deserved to set off the trap for so blazingly running ahead without forewarning the others. Thank you for not taking us all today for my mistake.  I will work with them better next time. Right before the corridor chaos ensued, I noticed a small room in the sub-basement full of inebriated goblins, too impaired to hear your punishment.  I have a plan to subdue them next time.  I feel you showed them to me as a sign of sacrifice.  It was impossible to see what was going on down the hallway.  Instead of adding to the chaos, I prayed to you, great Preserver of Flesh.  You smiled upon us this day.  In return for letting us live another day, I halted the death of Thrella.   As you wish, I will collect souls that need to be judged, but today, these souls deserve the honour of life.
The Flayed Man: Goblins and their Guns   as told by Meth   After leaving the futility that was the quest for the Green Glow to the South of Hope, I joined forces with a more sane looking adventuring party determined to rescue a family who’d been waylaid and abducted by goblins.  While the adventure didn’t promise any archaeological marvels, I have long found that the greatest treasures can be found in the most unexpected places. I set off amid a sea of unfamiliar faces, with the exception of Sigi Savolla, a reassuringly silicon based lifeform who I knew to be reliable.  We were an eclectic gathering which featured Cinnamon a pixie of great martial prowess, Thrella a doughty drow warrioress, Reginald Tealeaf a wise halfling full of advice, Qu’arn a Half Orc and fellow master of the arcane, and Drift, an Air Genasi, a fascinating creature of flesh and air. Our early travel was successfully conducted, though again we had to endure the nightly ‘sleep’ so craved by fleshly creatures.  I tried to explain the danger of such behaviour but failed to gain converts to my view. It was little surprise that we found ourselves threatened by a vast horde of bugs.  Fortunately we worked together and found several intelligent ways to both extricate ourselves from the situation and preserve our equipment. The following day saw us near our destination though to do so we had to pass through a mist covered valley containing a deadly Mausoleum.  We sought to stealthily pass through the latter but dallied overlong when Reginald discovered several interesting statues and an ancient bronze key buried at their feat. We were about to press on when we were attacked by a pair of silicon based creatures of great lethality though low intellect.  We tried fighting them off but our injuries piled up too rapidly and we were forced to retreat.  My mule was sacrificed to their hunger as we made our escape.  The loss was inconvenient, though when I weigh my expenditure against the lives saved I conclude it was an optimal decision. Soon after we arrived at the goblin cave and observed what appeared to be a mighty wizard conversing with a goblin.  The wizard seemed to teleport away, a truly powerful magic that I too hope to master one day.   We entered the cave and soon discovered our tactics were not equal to the challenges posed by a long narrow corridor. Our numbers worked against us as we found ourselves beset by goblins on two sides.  Ultimately we prevailed, thanks in large part to Thrella and Cinnamon, though Qu’arn’s moaning no doubt discouraged the goblins as well. We decided to retreat and attempt to recover our strength before adventuring further. The next day we pushed in again, to experience largely the same result as we were bottled up in corridors once more.  This time the goblins had strange firearms and also a large species of Canis Lupus and the fight was quite nasty.  Ultimately we prevailed, thanks in part to my magic and the bravery of Sigi Savolla and his strange hound.  We didn’t find any sign of the kidnapped family but did take some captives of our own.  It is time now to return to Hope in order to interrogate our prisoners as well as devise some better tactics for fighting in corridors.  I’m confident we will achieve greater success when we return!.
