The Amazing Adventures of Gimble Nimblehands : The Korthos Saga Dearest reader… when last we left our intrepid hero, Gimble Nimblehands had singlehandedly* cleared one wing Heyton’s Rest and had authorised the return to the pub so that some of the poor followers who had been injured could be allowed time to rest and recuperate. Without much time to waste though, the ever modest and dashing hero was again leading a group into the tomb to find out what the filthy sahuagin scum were up to! With her modified Gimble2000 firearm, Astra was proving to be a real asset and (almost) capable of matching the mighty Gimble for ferocity and damage to their foes! Uriel the drow time wizard brought another keen mind (not quite as brilliant as Gimble’s mind of course) to bear on the threat. Rounding out the “dark” trio was the mysterious Mivis who seemed equally disgusted and intrigued by the idea of a cult. Sylander, the cleric seemingly unsure of whether he belonged with the dark or with his healing powers devoted to keeping people alive to witness the heroism of Gimble. A mighty warrior in heavy armour and a shock of red hair, Jereboam seemed confident of victory without having experienced the tombs yet. Finally, the Dragonborn bard, Elotarus, was a cheery sight - no doubt keen to witness the mighty deeds of Gimble and possibly to join the list of those wanting to chronicle his exploits… (note dear reader that the coward Bimble had fled the island for the safety of Hope once he realised he could not compare to his amazing brother…) Stalking quietly through the tomb, the group soon encountered more foul cultists and engaged with them. Evil doers fell before the mighty wrath of Gimble and some retreated into another wing and cast a fog cloud to obscure the entrance. A brief standoff followed. Mivis conjured up an illusion to try and draw the enemy out but barely before they had finished casting, the heroes had rushed forward and found themselves in a tight spot until Gimble emerged heroically through the smoke with his “Ghargh” cannon blasting away. Poor Mivis joined just in time to take a filthy sahuagin arcane bolt to the chest and fell to the floor instantly dead. Gimble noted a look of almost grim satisfaction on the drow’s face, no doubt the result of being in combat alongside the mighty gnome hero. Fuelled by the loss of one of the party, the rest of the cultists in the north east wing were soon dealt with. Pausing to catch their breath and mourn poor Mivis, our heroes were almost surprised by the appearance of a mild mannered elf named Avaris who had arrived just in the nick of time for an assault on the south east wing. Learning their lessons from the previous encounters, the party listened to the directions of the heroic Gimble and made a more direct assault. Led by Gimble (shielded slightly by Avaris who had turned into a bear) the room was soon overwhelmed and the final cultists. With three “keys” in hand, the group readied themselves for an assault on what surely must be the source of the cult activity! Alas, the stress of the tomb proved too much and saw the departure of Sylander and Avaris, although they promised to send help when they could! Opening up the mysterious barrier, our heroes rained destruction upon their foes but unfortunately the cultists were able to complete their ritual and raise a malevolent warrior to attack the party. Throwing himself through the clawing tentacles of Hadar, Gimble was soon in the thick of the enemy. With Jereboam occupied several enemies, Uriel attempted to bring their magic missiles to bear, and Elotarus showed he was more than just a pretty wordsmith as he darted in and out among the enemy forces, all while Astra unleashed her bullets at the sahaugin priest. Soon it was all over and despite being quite bloodied, Gimble was able to defeat the cultists* and lead his team back out of the tomb safely. As the party recuperated in the Wavecrest Inn, the mayor once again approached the mighty hero Gimble and outlined a suspected sahaugin plot to assault various areas of the town. Their main targets were likely to be the docks and the magic crystal in the town hall that kept the town warm. Gimble led the party to the town hall and set up the defensive positions. They would defend the crystal or die trying! Wave upon wave of vicious sahaugin filth threw themselves at the doughty defenders and were rebuffed again and again. As their foes waned, there came a cry from the town that there were enemies on their way to the docks and our heroes wearily headed to meet the new threat head on… As they set up positions peering into the dark, Gimble was rewarded for his ongoing heroism! Clearly inspiring loyalty, it seems that Sylander and Avaris had managed to send reinforcements after all. A mighty half orc named Ulag hefted his longsword and shield and took up position alongside Jereboam but to his delight, Gimble saw that the other figure was none other than his “brother”, the one trollkin wrecking ball Lord Ghargh! And with him, the fearless Sir Fluffy Bob! Surely no filthy fish people could stand against such a potent trio! Especially as Gimble was finally recognised for his ongoing heroism with a knighthood... SIR GIMBLE! Again, the sahaugin threw wave after wave at the docks and wave after wave was turned away, the docks littered with the shark men bodies. But as Gimble wearily wiped the sweat from his brow and deployed an impressive alchemical healing “explosion” to his allies, a mighty sahaugin lord burst out of the water and towards the isolated figure of Ulag along with several of his fishy minions. Astra reacted quickly to launch a molotov cocktail and envelop the enemy but it didn’t deter the lord from striking down Ulag despite the time twisting efforts of Uriel and before Lord Ghargh could reach him to aid. Turning it’s attention to Lord Ghargh, the lord managed to render the mighty trollkin unconscious with a set of vicious strikes! As he fell, Lord Ghargh managed to throw Sir Fluffy Bob to safety… as Gimble saw this, he dashed to his “brother”, paying no mind to the lord sneering down at him and managed to heal Lord Ghargh! As Jereboam threw himself into the sahaugin, Lord Ghargh rose and unleashed his own onslaught managing to drive the foe back while Gimble slew another of the minions and dived into the flames of Astra’s molotov to heal Ulag. Emerging from the fire, the tides were finally turning and with Astra and Uriel raining destruction down upon the sahaugin forces, the day was soon won. The mighty lord falling under the onslaught from the whole party. Korthos was saved… for now…
