Questions for GM

How long of down time are we being given?
I say two weeks here. That way people can spend 10 days to level up if they need.
@Stan: Your party can take as long as it needs/wants. Just make a joint decision with the other members of the group.
Two weeks sound good
two weeks agreed
Hey Rob would you allow a blacksmith to create a buckler? +1 AC and it doesn't take a hand slot?
Like an arm strapped thingie?
@Byron: No, I'm not interested in tampering much with the basic rules.

Hey Rob, Merry Overeating day! Got a question, if there is no more combat at the Tree, could we downtime stuff? We have to search the Tree, go to Gethrame's to return the staff, and then take Hunter back to be Raised. Thanks!
@Byron : That depends... does Ron wish to have Hunter raised? Or is Ron making a new character?
I'd rather have Hunter raised if possible.
Okay, we'll handle that later today then.
Hey since it is black Friday weekend, can we get 3 for 1 XP training?
Howdie Mister GM. Can we pay to have our gear upgraded? IE I have platemail and I want it to be +1. then eventually +2 and so on. The Dragon Item stuff out of MHH pg 95 can we just buy it in a big city, or is it considered a magic item? Can we Identify a spell when we counterspell it? Xanathar mentions using a reaction to identify but counterspell also uses a reaction... Will you allow the Claiming a Draconic Essence out of Fisbands? IE when you kill a dragon you can get special alibies afterward. Thanks!
Hello Byron, Answers: 1. No upgrading. You have to buy a new magic item. It must be made magical when forged. 2. It would be considered a magic item for sure. The item's cost, though, would be x10 its usual price (as described in that section). 3. My view on counterspelling: while it seems like in theory it would make more sense to require an Arcana (or Religion) check to identify the incoming spell, and there are various ways to do that, I kind of feel that, in practice, it's just easier to let you know what I'm casting at you without a roll being needed. Besides, if you think about it, my bad guy casters will always know what you are casting at them because you have to declare it to me first, right? "Rob, I am casting fireball at the evil wizard." "Byron, he is going to counterspell that." "Crap!" So, it would seem only fair that, if my bad guys always auto-identify your spells, you should be able to auto-identify mine. "Byron, my evil wizard is casting a cone of cold at you." "Rob, I'm gonna use a higher level slot to counterspell that." "Gosh darn it, Byron!" What do you guys think? 4. I will not comment on that. If this were somehow possible, your character would have no idea about it. He would have to research such a topic and see what he finds out about it. (He would also need an in-game reason to even go looking for this possibility in the first place.) All Best, Rob
That is fair for counterspelling, the game rules are kinda backward. Well i will one day research about the Red, maybe then Robert... Maybe then... Thanks!
No problem.
Hey, can we coat magical weapons with silver or adamantine? Here are the rules references: Some  Monsters  that have immunity or  Resistance  to nonmagical  Weapons  are susceptible to silver weapons, so cautious  Adventurers  invest extra coin to plate their weapons with silver. You can silver a single weapon or ten pieces of  Ammunition  for 100 gp. This cost represents not only the price of the silver, but the time and  Expertise  needed to add silver to the weapon without making it less effective. The adamantine version of a melee weapon or of ten pieces of  Ammunition  costs 500 gp more than the normal version, whether the weapon or  Ammunition  is made of the metal or coated with it.
@Byron : Sure. The coating goes around the already-created weapon, so I don't see why not.
Excellent Smithers.
Any news on the New Player front?
We should have Veda joining us this week. She fell down some steps and hurt herself, which is why she missed last game. She might have a friend joining us, as well. We shall see.
