S049_The_Devils_Hideaway

October 13, 2018 Saturday Lilli’s one request in exchange for the information was that Iggy, a vampire friend of hers who hunts at the Devil’s Hideaway, not be harmed. Iggy does not kill but he does not object to taking a small drink from the girls that take him home with them. Lilli describes him as being harmless. October 14, 2018 Sunday 6 PM (Sunset was at 5:21) Inspector Noir has been hanging out at the Devil’s Hideaway trying to incorporate himself in the Goth culture that congregates here. He has been watching the corpse of David Blair (and four other zombies) work as stage hands for the Hell’s Belles. Among the things he notices about the zombies is that David seems to have more (human-level) intelligence and a higher degree of self will than the other ‘roadies’. Volt (Bodie Smith) has also been patronizing the Hideaway. He is a stereotypical guy enjoying the skimpy outfits the Belles wear and the quality of the music they play, if not style they perform. The Brooklyn Brigade arrives and pays their $25 door fee and two drink minimum (they get tickets to exchange for drinks). The four Belles are rocking out, on occasion a projection of a woman flits around the stage. This is the Hauntress who can become visible if she chooses to. Paladin recognizes the quality of the performance even though the music itself is not to his liking. Rather than sitting there until closing time he takes opportunity of one of their breaks (5 minutes every hour) to speak with Sanguine. At the edge of the stage he asks Sanguine her opinion of several famous Austrian composures until she invites him back to the green room for a chat. He comes but he brings the entire Brigade with him. Inspector Noir notes the non-band members heading backstage. He finds a table near the green room and conjures a ‘stethoscope’ so he can eavesdrop on what is being said. The Brigade enter the room where Sanguine and the Belles are waiting. There are also 5 zombies there, David Blair and four others. Paladin senses danger stalking behind him, Kismet senses the presence of a spirit, the Hauntress, standing behind Paladin within arms reach. Paladin tells Sanguine that he wants her to deliver a message to her boyfriend. That he is upsetting lots of people and needs to knock his behavior off. She denies having a boyfriend but says she will deliver the message to her proverbial boyfriend. If the Brigade can get something for her she will tell them everything she knows, or can find out, about the Austrian. Eventually she tires of going around in circles and tells Paladin she wants a bowl made of an unidentified blackish-red wood with intricate carved runes covering it. She claims it is a ancient vampiric artifact that has only social value. Being outside of acceptable vampire society there is no way she will ever have a chance to be the Princess of New York City and having the bowl is the first step to making that possible. The bowl is located at the Met Cloisters (99 Margaret Corbin Dr, New York, NY 10040). With the message delivered Paladin heads back to the Citadel (that most people call the Bunker) with Kismet. Lady Paper opts to stay at the Hideaway. Paladin give her his drink tickets. At the Bunker Paladin tries to find information on the bowl but comes up with nothing. His research is interrupted when there is a buzzer at the front door. Answering it he finds Inspector Noir there. The Inspector in his cryptic fashion manages to tell Paladin that he is working a case that involves Hell’s Belles and the Devil’s Hideaway. He tells Paladin that he was hired to find, and hopefully rescue, David Blair from the Belles. Further he says that he was known to be dating Carrionette (Charlotte Duquesnes) before dying from an (accidental) drug overdose. Paladin guesses that his client is David’s sister. Noir confirms that it is true. Inspector Noir picks up the research that Paladin started. He discovers the bowl is an artifact that was donated to the Met Cloister by an English family, the Helsings. The bowl is not on display because it’s ownership is being contested by the government of Romania. They claim the Jorum of Kinsmenship (the bowl’s proper name) is of significant historical and cultural importance to the people of Romania. Kismet is also researching the bowl and finds some different information based on buried social media sites, tabloids, and other outside main stream sources. She discovers that Brother Blood and his Cult of Blood are also trying to get the Jorum. Paladin decides right then and there that they will not be helping Sanguine obtain the vampire artifact, not that he was inclined to do so in the first place. After the rest of the Brigade leaves the Devil’s Hideaway Lady Paper consumes her two drink tickets, and then Paladin’s. A group of barflies start buying her more drinks which she also imbibes. After she starts to feel the booze a group of four guys surround her. They pour alcohol on her (paper) business suit and peel it off of her. The goons get very handsy with her. Before things get out of hand another bar patron, Volt, comes to her aid. Lady Paper puts up a paper dome which protects her as Volt releases a blinding flash of light. The goons who were groping her are blinded. Volt grabs Lady Paper and flies her out of there, taking her back to the Citadel (Bunker(?)). When Volt and Lady Paper reach the super secret (publicly widely known) base Paladin gives him the application for membership, despite his misgivings as Volt seems to be having a conversation with himself. Inspector Noir has already completed his. Kismet is continuing to mine her non-conventional sources for more information on the Jorum of Kinsmenship Paladin gets a message from HAL. ‘The Worlds Wide Welfare Association has placed an alert. The pirate crew known as The Galactic Marauders acquired access to a Star Portal and was reported in this section of the galaxy. Be on High Alert.’ There is also a personal post script. ‘When our search goes through your sector we intend to visit you Shifter. We would like to share dinner, drinks, and whatever with you during a night of shore love…leave. Signed Kei and Yuri, The Lovely Angels - 3WA Troubleshooter Team’
