Hi! I'm a relatively experienced DM, having been playing for 4 years and I have completed two campaigns, the pre-made Waterdeep: Dragon Heist and a year long homebrew of my own making. I am also in the process of DMing another homebrew of mine. I want to play more D&D in general, so I'm looking to start DMing another game, and I have wanted to DM Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus for a while now. Description: A tale of two cities: Elturel and Baldur's Gate Elturel is a model city. A beacon of goodness and hope. The renowned knights of Elturel, the Hellriders, are a model that any knight order would hope to follow. Constantly fighting against hordes of undead and other evil creatures, Elturel seeks to protect their city and larger nation. On the other hand, we have Baldur's Gate; a cesspool of crime and murder. Around every corner is a lie, a cutpurse, political corruption, and much, much more. One cannot walk through the streets of Baldur's Gate without a weapon if you wish to leave with all your possessions, or even your life. Yet, tragedy has struck the area. Without any warning, the entire city of Elturel has up and vanished, leaving a crater where the city once stood. While many of the city's inhabitants have disappeared along with the city, those that were not in Elturel at the time have lost their home and are seeking refuge within Baldur's Gate. The game starts in the city of Baldur's Gate which is currently experiencing a crisis. Their current Grand Duke went missing with Elturel, having been sent on a diplomatic mission, and the city is experiencing a refugee crisis. There are even rumors that Baldur's Gate is next in line to disappear. Can anybody get to the bottom of this mystery and bring order back to these lands? Logistical Information: I am primarily thinking about doing these sessions on Thursdays, most likely starting around 6 pm and going until about 10 pm (EST), though the date and time can possibly be changed based on what works best for players. No guarantee, but I have some flexibility. Along with this, I am most likely good with either weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Once again, players will have input on what exactly we do. We will be using Discord for voice chat for the sessions and talk in-between sessions. I will put the server together. I can do character sheets both entirely on roll20 or D&DBeyond and using the Beyond20 extension, whatever people are more comfortable with. I have experience both using both and DMing with both. I am open to allowing homebrew, I would just have to give the okay on anything you wish to use. What I Am Looking For: I am looking for a max of five players, which is what I find to work best, both for balancing combat and allowing people to shine individually when doing RP. I have found that I have the most fun DMing when there is a lot of RP, so I'm looking for players who are very interested in RP. Of course, because this is a pre-made module, there is a good amount of combat, but I do not want it to steal the show entirely. I will try and work with each player to connect their character to the world, and am entirely open to players connecting their backstories with each other (i.e., one person is a detective and the other is a criminal and they are constantly butting heads). People of any identity are welcome! I am wholeheartedly inclusive and do not allow for any forms of bigotry or discrimination within my group. We will have a session 0, the exact date will be determined when I have found all the players. One of the topics discussed in the session 0 is the Dark Secret that the group has with each other. Were they all a part of a conspiracy? Did the group attempt a murder, theft, or coup? This is a neat character building thing added with the module and I think it'll add a layer to everyone's character and help with RP. If you're interested in joining this campaign, either leave a comment on this post and I will DM you or you can just DM directly. First come first serve.
