We're looking to add another player after one of ours can't make it anymore. We have 3 players and me, the DM. Our next game is 1/23, then about every two weeks after that. Game Style: We're pretty laid back. The tone of the campaign is semi-serious with humor (Critical Role-ish). We all do voices, although I'm not super good at it. The campaign is very much story driven, maybe 55/45 RP/combat. Each character's backstory features heavily in the party's arc, and there are significant events and some mysteries unfolding in the world, but it's entirely sand-boxy. The PC's choose where the story goes. RP between PC's is common. We've had some light PvP conflicts that didn't get out of hand and were pretty fun. We're all reasonable adults and appreciate that this is just a game. My DM style: I generally stick with RAW except for a few exceptions. I'm happy if someone corrects me about a rule. I try to make the setting thematic, the NPCs interesting, and the combat challenging. I don't save player's from failure, if you have a good plan and successful roles you'll be in good shape. Otherwise, I just try to laugh with you rather than at you. Campaign info: Four about 100 years pilgrims and refugees have made their way into the isolated valley of Ondilin. Independent from the kingdoms to the south and east, hardy towns have pitched against the harsh elements and found a living. One town in particular, grew quickly. Valley View, sitting at a confluence of the mountain passes, is rowdy, tough - and recently, troubled. As fall turns to winter, the last and biggest of the cattle runs is
making its way to the mountain passes, and the town's harvest festival
is about to begin. But mysterious fights are breaking out between unknown factions, a popular saloon and casino was ransacked, and whispers spread that Valley View is about to erupt. I'll give you more details based on your backstory. Setting details: I allow all official 5e books except for Eberron and Wildemount (the bloodhunter class is fair game though). The setting is low-magic, but the PCs are an exception. Organized teaching of the arcane is unheard of, and some practitioners are labeled witches. Even spiritual magic is held in suspicion by many. But feel free to play any kind of spell caster you'd like. The valley has a western vibe to it (without guns). But your character could certainly come from elsewhere. Some races are more rare than others, and there are xenophobic tensions between the major kingdoms, but no one balks at seeing any 5e race walking around. Choose whatever race/class/background sounds fun to you, and I'll work your character into the story. There's some minor crafting in play. Back-up game: We play a very casual game of Dungeon of the Mad Mage as back up when someone can't make the regular campaign game. The party are level 7. They have a rogue, a monk (with some homebrew), and a ranger. If you're interested, post here with a description about your play style and one of the favorite characters you've ever played.
