Content Creator Question: Translating Module into VTT Format

Hello, I hope I'm asking this in the right place. I spent a while combing through the forums trying to find an answer to this, but no luck so far. I am a small publisher of OSR content, and right now, I am designing a megadungeon that is coming along very nicely. Once the product is in print/pdf format later this year, my goal is to create a Roll20-compatible version that users can purchase in the Marketplace and load into their campaigns, just like WotC does with their products: with dynamic lighting, tokens, furniture, etc. all finished for the buyer so the module is ready-to-play. Here is my question: how the heck do I do that? Would I hire Roll20 staff to do it? Are there freelancers out there of the computer programming variety who do this for a living? While I'm familiar with Roll20 as a GM setting up my games in it, so I know how to do dynamic lighting and all that, I wouldn't have the faintest clue how to turn all that prep work into some kind of data file (?) that would be put into the Roll20 marketplace. Anyways, this is a ways off, but I'm always looking ahead. Thanks for any help that anyone can give me on this. All Best, Rob

Are there freelancers out there of the computer programming variety who do this for a living? Yes there are. You could ask for recommendations. I've done it, though it's not work I'm looking to take on again any time soon. Here on the forums might be one place to ask. Or you could try the Roll20 Reddit, or its associated Discord. Ask for references and make sure you get someone who has actually done the work before. There's a lot of specialized knowledge for a large product. Or you could do it yourself. Despite what I said before, it's not that hard. You basically make a complete game and that is used for the basis of a marketplace offering. By doing it yourself, you can save money, and get things exactly as you want them. You would start by applying to become a Marketplace Creator. There's a whole section of the Help Center designed to get you oriented. Once your application is accepted, you can join the Marketplace Discord and speak frankly with other creators and the Marketplace Manager. It's a great resource.
Hi Keith, Thank you so much for the direction and advice! I really appreciate it. ( Adds new tasks to massive to-do list... ) All Best, Rob

It's not super hard to make a marketplace product like this... you just set it up exactly as you want to sell it in Roll20 and then submit that game as the product. :) So if you know how to do dynamic lighting etc, and have already set it up to your satisfaction, as long as you own the rights to use all your art / you're not just using any old marketplace creator's tokens, you should just go and get approval to be a marketplace seller! It doesn't get turned into a data file, you just set everything up as handouts and if you want to provide a bunch of items like furniture make a page that holds all the tokens, or sell an image pack if you think it has separate value. :) Programming is not needed, just the patience to assemble it so it's userfriendly. Programming only comes in if you're using the character sheet making or API. Good luck creating your module!

Hi Tiffany, Awesome sauce! Thank you for the help. I have set up products like mine on my own time, for sure. I just did not know you could do that. Very helpful, thank you! All Best, Rob
