You need to switch Layers in order for Roll20 to accept changing size of Text

If you write Text in Roll20 and later want to resize it, you can select the Text and change its size. So far so good! AFTER choosing the new Size the text is displayed way too huge and gets only displayed if you click outside it BUT there is still a frame around the text and you can not drag it around until you switch layers. Steps to reproduce: 1. Write some Text 2. Click outside and choose select tool 3. select Text with select tool 4. resize Text 5. click outside Text somewhere on the map. Expected: Text is resized and displayed correctly! What really happens: Frame around text is displayed and the text has the wrong size. In order to the change to take effect you need to switch Layers!

Looks like the same thing I reported here: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/10452649/text-editing-is-being-wonky/ You should probably fill out a Help Center Request . I did, and after a week and a half they told me they passed it along to devs and closed the ticket.
Seems that way, yes. But sadly, your Post was closed due to inactivity... :( This Bug is old... at least a few years by now... and sadly, no one has ever cared about it... I REALLY hope with all those "Improvements" made recently that they will find and squish that bug...

Hi TheMarkus1204, I followed your steps one by one and the text changed size correctly for me. Some questions: 1) What browser are you using? 2) In step 3, you are referring to selecting the text object with the select tool, not using the text tool to select it in edit mode, correct? 3) You are resizing the tool with the font size selector, not dragging a corner? (only possible when multiple objects are selected AFAIK, and in this case, the text will not resize after you let go, because it is defined by point size, not bounding box size).
Hello keith, 1) I am using Chrome, but it happens in every other Browser as well 2) I write some text and if I click somewhere else while Text Tool still selected, I get another Input-Bar for text the point I clicked. And even while editing text (text Tool still selected), If I resize the text it is displayed too large for the selected size, so I need to click somewhere else in order for it to display correctly. And then there is still this strange border around the text which only goes away when switching layers. 3) While writing / editing text there is this bar where I can select Size, Color etc for the text I am writing / editing. It does NOT matter where the text is positioned on the map as it happens anytime. And as said in earlier comments: this bug is present for as long as I use Roll20 (a few years by now!) and with this newly border around the text only going away when switching layers it got worse!

Wrote some Text and Resized it. Text is still marked (Steps 1 - 4). Clicking outside: Border / frame is visible! AND text is displayed larger than it really is. After switching Layers Border is gone and text is displayed correctly!
Is there any fix or workaround available for this? Although I am using Text for Maps not hat much, it is still annoying to encounter if I do...
Submitted a Help Center Request to finally fix this.

There is an easy step to get around this issue that works for me. I left click the text tool's icon after making a change. This consistently successfully processes the changes without needing to swap layers. Best of all it doesn't seem to screw up anything when you click it, besides the text slightly repositioning due to the size change.
They submitted a Bug Ticket for this, so it should be fixed soon :)
