New Layer, Object Locking, Object Link

Reply "YES" if you agree we need: 1) New Layer: Between the Map Layer and Token Layer, for the GM to drop Effects, extra objects on top of the map, and animated gifs. 2) Object Locking: An option to prevent an object from being moved or resized once locked. 3) Object Linking: Link to objects together in position, size, and layer. The current group function doesn't effectively do this. I know some of this may be in the works, but these important functions are necessary for the continued evolution of the roll20 system. Thank you, Ken
I mean... - yes obviously. But you can probably put your votes here for the first one: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1241955/foreground-map-layer and here for the second one: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/3499369/an-option-to-lock-or-freeze-any-token-tile-or-map-piece For the third there are a number of closed suggestions. You may want to flesh out exactly what you're looking for there with an individual suggestion - possibly including any of the ideas from some of these examples to see if you can get more votes than they got.

We absolutely need a foreground layer for fog and rain effects. The Token Locking and Token Linking I have solved in a script. I am releasing it to the Roll20 instant install, so hopefully that goes through. Look for Token Controller in a few days.
Thank you Sean G. and Scotty! The links are really helpful. It seems the same suggestions come up again and again, so I figured they already "know what we mean". I am hoping to simply push these as important fixes. Rather than a dozen different threads with similar ideas, I am suggesting a single thread with a basic description of the general idea. That was my hope. That first one (regarding layers) has been outstanding for 7 years. However, it does a really good job of describing the issue, and why it is taking so long to be implemented. I'll make sure to comment there too. The API you linked to (for locking maps) sounds great. I need to implement those. Thank you so much! Object linking already exists in many other software systems. The best examples I can think of are Microsoft Word and Photoshop. Those successfully have tools that allow two or more objects to be attached to each other and then they are able to be manipulated as if one object. The current grouping tool seems to have problems when you try to move the objects. In fact, I've had some players tell me that the grouped token vanishes completely on their side. An example is a horse and rider. I can put the rider over the horse and group them. But, when my players or I try to move them there is a chance the horse will fly across the screen in the opposite direction of the rider. Maybe someone has a solution for that already. If you know of one please share! Thank you both! Ken
