PLEASE NOTE: THIS EPISODIC NARRATIVE-STYLE GAME IS FREE to PLAY. Game is 9 PM-Mid Sundays, UTC-5 (EST US Timezone) We will occasionally have room for "Guest Star" NPCs, (other survivors, Polish Freedom Fighters, military stragglers, a local with a problem needing to be solved before the group moves on). We have a growing cast of NPCs generated as potential PCs, as most of our players are also T2K4 Referees. If someone wants to Jump in, and try out Twilight 2000 4th Edition, Please send a Private message to Shroud, maybe we can work something out, with a few days notice. We are closing recruiting for ongoing player characters, with 6. If you wish to join in later episodes as a guest star, or recurring guest star, please message me via PM. * * * * * This is going to be an Ambitious project. I am not going to sugar-coat it. Some characters will not survive to the end of the Campaign. It might be difficult to find players, given the source material. My Experience: I remember the first time that I played Twilight 2000 back in The Navy. I had been playing Traveller, and AD&D for years and was looking for new challenges and new games. I had tried Aftermath (A bit too crunchy, but a hard core gritty game, for sure) and Gamma World (A bit silly, and campy, but super fun, and creative.) Then a guy came to the Ship, and he was a GM of Twilight 2000 Boxed set. My first Character was an Australian SAS intel Officer. I bought the hat, and said G'day, and Shrimp on the barbie, in a bad Oz accent. And loved it. Then I started to run it, myself. Since then I have ran the older editions of Twilight 2000 for years, 1e, 2e, 2.2e, as Tabletop, mostly with active duty or military players, When I was in the Navy, right up until GDW Folded. I never got into the new wave (2013) version, as I preferred the Classic 2000 1st, and 2nd Editions' Setting. This will definitely be the 4th Edition T2K4 Rules set, just to be clear. Looking for interested players, who are frustrated, or actual, or potential actors, who need some improv practice, or just anyone who ever wanted to go to the wall in RP , in a War Setting. You want to play an epic death scene, I am not guaranteeing it, I hope the characters survive, but heads up, this is your chance. The game will be run In EST Time Zone, Start 9PM on Sunday nights, 3 hours per session, weekly. Looking for 5 players. This will be Mature (18+) role-playing Heavy in Style . Grimdark Tone, The Theme is Gritty Survival. Potentially Portraying PTSD / Mental illness will be a Requirement , in as much as player prior experience allows, as the stresses of the setting accumulate, and the omnipresent loss of gear, friends and comrades/battle buddies wears the characters down in the face of a seemingly insurmountable struggle to survive in a world where civilization is torn to bits. With the idea that you have to keep it together while in game, remembering that you are playing a character. If you are a method actor, great. Please do not treat THE PLAYERS Badly.. Players will be playing a role. I am not here to trigger anyone , least of all myself. I will ask you as a potential player to portray indecision, foolhardy bravery, self-sacrifice, fireside comradery, loss of friends, utter despair, fear, panic, determination, laughter, cool efficient bloodletting, alcohol consumption to drown your sorrows, the resulting dry heaves, and murderous rage, if, and when the story, and your chosen or adopted role requires it. MENTAL ILLNESS PORTRAYALS The game itself requires characters that are challenged physically and mentally, with the potential for: Nervous trembling, Anxious Reactions, Adjustment Reactions, Sullenness, Nightmares, Sleep Deprivation, Phobias, Alcoholism, Paranoia, Combat Psychosis, Violent Rampages, and potential Catatonia. If you are not onboard with this, Please do not apply. I want this game to be like a Really intense, Gritty TV Show, but done with Improv Roleplaying. I will probably cobble together a uniform or some sort of props. At least some in-character hats. If you as a player, need coaching for playing, I can hook you up. I served Nine years in the Navy, did a one-year deployment, and am now rated as Disabled, by the Veteran's Administration. POTENTIAL OCCASSIONAL RELIGIOUS THEME One of the Pre-Generated Characters is a devout female, who, despite the loss of everything, is a faithful Roman Catholic Church believer. Catholicism will feature heavily in some, but not all scenarios, as 87% of Poles profess to be Catholic. One Scenario, in particular, is thematic, centered around a Judeo-Christian Religion Icon. I myself am Buddhist. I am not pushing Religion here, but I have a degree in Religion, so I am going to play it for the setting. I WILL USE MILITARY JARGON LEFT AND RIGHT. I will give non-veteran players a lexicon to work with. You do not have to be a veteran, or active duty military to play this game. Certainly it will help if you have a knowledge of military matters. I will push for fast-paced combat, little time for decisions. Tactics will be a bit abstracted, since that is the game system. Characters defend a whole 10 meter wide house, not move from Corridor to corridor. I will be fair I will try to describe the situation clearly, but when your initiative is on the spot, it's your turn, do something. If you have ever sat around waiting for the Wizard player to read the player's handbook while they ponder various choices of spells to use in an encounter, THIS IS NOT GONNA BE THAT. Combat in this game is deadly , and it is a war, so brief combat encounters/contacts will happen, but probably not a lot of huge mass battles. I want the pace to be fast, do what action we need, recover the dead and wounded, disengage, and move on. I hate sessions that are three hours of game time that would be three minutes simulated. Over 10 Suitable Pre-Generated PCs are available. If you have the 4th edition rules from the Kickstarter or the Free League Site pre-order and want to generate a character, get it to me. If not, potential players will have to select from the list, which I will make in a few days, first come first choice. I will not hold up the game Episode 1 to generate characters. This is why I am putting this up 2 weeks in advance. * * * No one else
will come to your rescue. The final words came over the command net, in the clear, from division HQ as enemy vehicles overran the Command Post In Kalisz, with the smoking wrecks of the valiant M1-A1 tanks of the 1-70 Armored that had held out as long as possible, dying in place where they ran out of fuel, sacrificing themselves to buy time so that others may live: “Good luck. You’re on your own now.” - Twilight 2000
