Hello! My name is Garrett, but feel free to call me G or G.T.   I am a DM with a few years of running home games under my belt, and I'm hungry to start a new adventure.   Timeslot This will be a weekday afternoon campaign.   I am interested in sessions of 2-3 hours, with reasonable breaks built-in. I am fine with weekly or biweekly sessions.   I am based in EST, and have some flexibility for what day and hours we play, based on the group's needs. I was thinking something like Tuesdays, 12 - 3.   The Table: Particularly, I'm interested in cultivating a small party of pleasant people equally invested in an enrichening roleplay experience.   The games I've run before have always been fun, but I am always learning and want to foster atmosphere where everyone feels safe to grow, learn, and play.   I've been dissatisfied with the game options I've found on these forms. So, I'm interested in creating the kind of campaign I've always looked for.   Settings/Modules The world we create will be collaborative and original - I am very interested in characters with constructive purposes and attachments to the world. So, my ears and mind are open for ideas.   I own four WotC Modules (Saltmarsh, SKT, Candlekeep, Fizban's) which I intend to rip heavily from, but always tailoring the elements to what most excites the players and the story.   I also have read at least 100+ one-shots and the like from DMG; I always find this process inspirational, but more than a rigid dungeon run what I want most is to tell a story about our characters.   Expectations of DM Style This game will be, at least initially, 100% Theater of Mind.   My reasonings mostly concern preparation and pacing.   In my sessions, I want to provide as much value in the experience as I can. Fuddling in virtual tabletops deters from that process.  I am not  as adept with these programs as I would like to be. I also have no interest in the more video game orientation of these tools.    Instead, I divert more energy into what I want to run and trust my players' imaginations to help. I love visuals, and music and anything which adds production value, and so I am forever evolving how to bring more to my games.   In terms of pacing, I find ToM best in enabling smooth and fast storytelling.   There will be combat. However, I want to avoid extended initiative orders and gridlock. I want players to feel powerful, but I view combat and character resources as the currency they use to trade within the story.   The best parts of DnD, to me, are those that transcend or attempt something video games can't: the human side of choice-making. My philosophy in encounter-building is gamifying a story that I am helping my players tell.   Roleplay is, admittedly, an area I am working on myself as a player. I am not a professional entertainer, and I don't expect you to be. I will be kind and do my best, and I expect the same favor returned.   Payment I am charging $10 a session for players.   Why pay?   Well, mostly the fee is meant to give my brain a chip to irrationally rationalize the massive amounts of mental energy and activity I sink into my games.    The payment is not meant to be an obstacle, or even reflective of the time and effort I will deliver; it is meant in a form as a contract, to mutually assure investment on all sides of the party. I.E. : I will work even harder to earn your dollar, and the fee lets me know you are serious as a player and respect what's going on.   Timeline I would like to host a session 0 within the next two weeks. Exact time will be determined by the interests of players.   I am interested in starting something to last. I like campaigns with capped lengths, too. Setting the scope will be done in session 0.   What I'm Looking For: Interested players please apply with a simple introduction to yourself and what excites you about playing. I will PM and continue the conversation from there.   This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $10 per session to be filled with a description of your method, amount, and frequency of payment . Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.
